Find another business. My nightmare experience with Dan (still don't know his last name) was horrible. He changed agreed upon dates to take out the seats, to insisting that I only pay him cash or he wouldn't install my benches, it was awful. I had to take people with me to his home to get the benches installed as witness to what he was saying. And to make sure he did was he was going to do. I'm not sure how this guy is still in business.
I live an hour from Dan I drove to Peyton to get an estimate. I liked his work. He told me to come back on Thursday and he'd take out the benches and I needed to bring a check for $1,300. When I drove an hour to Peyton at the agreed to time and date, he told me he didn't feel well and couldn't take the benches out today, but I could come over and drop the check off. I was furious--I was already in Peyton. He reluctantly agreed to take out the benches and when I arrived he wanted a check for $1,500, not $1,300. This should have been my first sign that this guy didn't tell the truth. After he took out my benches he left a pile of screws and springs on the floor of my RV. I put everything in a bag. Very unprofessional.
He promised the benches in 4 weeks. Week 5 came and he wouldn't give me an install date. I had to press for an install date. The night before the agreed to install date, he texted me to tell me it was going to snow and he didn't want to be out in the cold. He didn't want to be "sloshing around'. This guy works out of his garage. He also told me he had a sick child. Blah, blah blah. He was stalling for time, He wasn't done. A couple of days later I finally got a day and general time of day. Still couldn't pin down a time. He had to once again call me and have me drop everything to come to his home.
He called to give me the time and to remind me that I needed to bring cash. This was the first I had heard of this. I was in Peyton. I became very upset. Banks were closing. This man had my benches and my $1500 and refused to take a check. We were now in a screaming match. He swore up and down that he told me I had to bring cash. He did not, I had my sister there to verify it. So, I borrowed money from relatives in Peyton and went over to get the benches. It took his a couple of hours to install the benches. I came back with cash. He seemed unable to count out the money, and proceeded to tell me he had made a mistake on the invoice and it was $20 short. In a normal circumstance I would have handed the $20 to the man, but he treated me like dog crap throughout the experience. The whole transaction felt like a drug deal. I couldn't wait to get out of this man's presence.
I have NEVER had a supplier of any type of service that has treated me like this. I should have read the reviews on Angie's List. This guy is about as unprofessional and rude as they come. It's like he has a part-time hobby doing upholstery work. He could care less.
It was HORRIFIC! read more
