OK so my teaser for this place was 'if there is only one place you should go in Paris it is this place". I guess I owe you some explanations. First this place is about cheese (Fromages). Yes it is a cliche to associate France and cheese and like a lot of cliche, it is true. You cannot understand France without understanding cheese and while you may enjoy your time in France without cheese you will never enjoy cheese as much as you could if you had it in France. And especially in Paris. And especially in Fromages et Ramage. Because what is important is not only the cheese, it is also what come with the cheese. Good cheese must come with good bread, good wine and good conversation (Ramage). Christian and Jean-Da, the amazingly good looking duet who run the place will not only find you the exact kind of cheese you are looking for (even if you never heard of it before and were not even aware that you were looking for a cheese in particular) but they will also give you the time of your trip. The boutique is filled with the lattest book they read, with the lattest Art that is all the rage in the neighborhood and with the lattest music they or their friends composed. Christian is a former musician who loves politics and Jean-Da is a former TV journalist who loves music. Needless to say the conversations between the two of them are passionate and endless. Don't hesitate to remind them from time to time that while you are also anxious to discover whether or not Murat is the best french artist ever, you would also like to taste this cheese that looks like a creamy dream and smells like heaven or at least like le Maquis in Corsica, how does it go with this little producer organic wine that they allowed you to taste on their charming little patio and how its taste in your mouth will make you climb the slopes and the stairs of the neighbouring Butte Montmartre with a smile, a song and the impression that it is exactly what you were looking for in Paris. read more
