We made sure to check the website before driving mode to this market. That is totally reasonable so we made the truck over. When we arrived however, I thought we were in the wrong place. It has an industrial feel, not a farmers market feel, and there were no markets going on outside. As a matter of fact, the only market was indoor with about a dozen or so stalls. We were disappointed, but I wanted to check it out so my husband remained in the vehicle with our dog. I looked at every market stall inside and I was in and out in about 5 minutes. Having produce doesn't make something a farmers market. It just felt like walking around local grocery store. About a third of the vendors were fruits and vegetables and the rest were knick-knacks and t-shirts and miscellaneous items. Also, it was incredibly empty. I mean I understand why. I did find a new cider to try but knowing what I know now, I would most likely not make the drive again. I realize I'm not from the area, but this was no different than any local grocery stores to me.

We also have enjoyed the beans and olives stuffed with lemon rinds that we bought here. We almost always stop by when we are next door at Jesse Israel's.

It really is little things like this that keep me happy. This Farmers' Market is located in the UT…read moreGardens on Neyland drive and is literally just a stone throw from where I work. It operates every Wednesday (closed in the winter months) from 4PM- 7 PM. I've walked across the street a handful of times to indulge in the pleasure of getting local products from the hardworking farmers/craftsmen in the area. It is not as big as the Market Square Farmers' market but it has a good representation of produce, food, plants, crafts and a handful of other random things. The Tootsie food truck actually also shows up here sometimes, although they are not consistently there. Quite a few of the vendors are actually not represented at the market downtown so it is nice to get some variety. What inspired this review was the heavenly sandwich I got yesterday. I had been stuck at work all day, didn't bring lunch and I had no idea when I was going to be able to go home. I realized it was 5 PM on a Wednesday and decided to grab a late lunch/early dinner. The Tootsie truck was not there but this wonderful Vietnamese stand had warm food. I had actually not noticed their stand before yesterday. I got a vegetarian banh mi sandwich that totally knocked my socks off. I don't actually remember a sandwich that was that good and only cost $5.00. I went back to work and tried to get everybody I could find to go buy one. They also had egg rolls (which were a little on the oily side), fish tacos and pork banh mi sandwiches. That meal was definitely a lifesaver and it was delicious. I really like the convenience of this Farmers' market and I encourage anyone close to campus to consider visiting. It is in a well shaded area and provides an opportunity to walk around and appreciate the beauty that is the UT gardens. It is also a wonderful opportunity to buy and support local!

A friend from Amish Country was with us and instead of driving by, we stopped in to investigate because the sign read "Amish Market." Let me tell you, DO NOT judge a book by it's cover. The business was apparently damaged by a flood, so don't let the exterior turn you off. Come on in and take a step back in time. Fresh vegetables, fresh fruit, cheeses, candies, nuts and dried fruit candies, canned fruits, salsas, pickled everything, Amish soaps and lotions and I could go on and on. My friend from Amish country was ecstatic when she found her grandmother Troyer's soaps and lotions ... omg!!! It's a mom & pop style operation and your support, I'm certain would be appreciated. It's like a farmer's market under one roof. What are you waiting for? I'll return for sure!!

About five dollars for a tiny container of maybe 2 ounces of gummy bears.
