This review is specifically for workshops and not arrangements/events or weddings…read more Recently attended (and gifted my mother) the Floral Fundamentals 101 Workshop and left feeling pretty bummed. While Sarah is warm and clearly knowledgeable, the class was advertised as a "demonstration on transforming a grocery store wrapped bouquet into a beautiful centerpiece." I had assumed given the description, that the instructor would have purchased an actual grocery store bouquet for demonstration and then demonstrated ways to spruce it up at home with design, different flowers, techniques, etc.. While the flowers provided were beautiful, unique and most importantly, grown locally, each flower provided for this workshop is not likely to be available in most grocery stores and therefore, would need to be substituted, something the instructor didn't offer without prompting, it seemed. So, the entire class was just "we're using this line flower or this greenery but when you go to the grocery store, try this flower, that flower or option #3, instead." For me, the format of the class just didn't make any sense in terms of actually helping folks transform accessible, locally purchased grocery store flowers. Additionally, the price ($75 per person) was extremely steep considering there were no bevvies and/or apps included. I have been lucky enough to take courses with several other local florists with many of them providing a least one cocktail or glass of wine, a charcuterie cup (or something similar) and the same amount of blooms for the same price or less. I did learn a bit about how to extend the life of the flowers and had some myths busted surrounding flower food, cooling the flowers, etc., I am just so bummed that the class didn't actually offer what we signed up for at a very unaffordable price.

She was extremely professional, kind, straightforward and delivered an amazing set of florals. She told us what we were getting and exactly how much it would cost, something we really appreciated. She cares about customer service, knows flowers and is creative. I mean, look at that bouquet! We sent her some photos of flowers we liked, our attire and described the colors we were going for and our general vibe. She came up with a gorgeous design. I was very clear about my expectations and even requested visuals ahead of time to ensure we were aligned. Unfortunately, what was delivered looked nothing like what was shown or discussed. When I saw the flowers on the day of the event, I literally felt like crying -- they were that far from what I had envisioned. After expressing my disappointment, I was told they believed they "delivered on what I paid for." Hearing that after such a significant investment was incredibly disheartening and, frankly, insulting. Good business is about more than simply providing a product; it's about communication, care, and honoring what was promised. Sadly, my experience with Courtney and this florist reflected none of that. My fiancé and I wanted a small wedding, particularly with COVID still looming, but flowers are a big part of my background and, for us, a small wedding did not mean minimal flowers. Our wedding venue, a train car at Game Train USA, was already beautifully appointed with a Victorian, garden theme, but being a bit non-traditional as a wedding venue we knew we would need creative help turning it into the perfect location for our ceremony and brunch. I took to Google and Yelp in search of a florist that was known for their creativity. When I came across reviews for Nancy, I had a feeling she would be "the one" for us. We met Nancy at Game Train for the first time and after spending just an hour with her touring the venue and discussing our ideas we knew we'd found our creative visionary. Not only were we impressed with Nancy's ideas, she was absolutely lovely throughout the entire process. Nancy asked that I send her my inspirational photos, which she incorporated into her vision, so when she created a proposal for us, it was very much in line with what we wanted. Seeing the flowers for the first time on my wedding day was enough to start a flood of happy tears. Gorgeous seems like such an inadequate adjective. My bouquet was stunning; beautifully made with the most amazing garden roses, specially sourced by Nancy. She also created two lush, floral archways, large urns of greens and florals, and florals for the chandeliers and serving tables. After our wedding was over and the celebrations finished, Nancy came back and collected everything from the venue so that we did not have to worry with anything except leaving for our honeymoon. We didn't just have a florist for our wedding. We had a partner who was invested as much as we were, and who never let us down. If you're looking for the same, look no further. Mom's dutch, so wanted to send her tulips, but wanted them to feel exotic and fresh. They sent gorgeous french tulips. They were tall & vibrant in a large, simple pitcher I know she'll reuse. Mom was thrilled. I arranged for them to be delivered a couple days before Mother's day so she could enjoy them all weekend. Mom usually calls me right away when she receives something, but this time she took a photo and emailed me, but didn't get around to sending it till the next day. So they were in fact delivered on time but I thought they hadn't been and didn't want to call her & ruin the surprise if they were just running behind. Brighter Day confirmed they'd been delivered when I phoned and were super nice about me calling to check on them, and even called a couple days later to make sure everything was ok and she received the flowers. They then called my mom a couple days later to make sure she enjoyed the flowers. I've never heard of such a thing. I've never had a follow up call from a florist in my life. I went to the Grand Opening over the weekend and the store was FILLED with great plant varieties, pots, soil, and other goodies. The prices are also great!! When the store first opened, I made sure to visit as well. What a huge transformation from when they first opened their doors. This is a smaller store so be patient as you navigate around. Plants are a game of patience anyway so this shouldn't be a problem when you're visiting. Support your local, black owned, business and buy plants here!

I arrived and was so warmly greeted by the owners and even the plants! They brought out a couple options and then asked what the occasion and colors were and if there was a budget . After a few minutes they brought out the most beautiful arrangement I had ever seen. I brought them home and gifted them and for days everyone kept complimenting the smell and how they bloomed. I absolutely adored the flowers she provided at the wedding, and she was also just really sweet about my describing various flowers, such as the craspedia or billy button, which I believe I called "a cute yellow pom pom thing." A LOT of my vendors wanted me to create pinterest boards so they could exactly duplicate my precise wishes--which is cool if you have a precise vision, but really hard when you don't. Shannon took my varied pinterest board and minimal guidance and created these gorgeous arrangements that look amazing in our photos, were great on our tables, and even listened on the day-of when the pinwheels and elements they had put on the arbor didn't fit what I thought we had discussed and quickly re-arranged things to place flowers there instead, minutes before the ceremony was meant to begin. Shannon even allowed me to deliver some photo charms for my mother in law's bouquet and one for my own to personalize the flowers. I just can't thank them enough for all the hard work, back-and-forth and guidance on who all and where all we would need flowers while still staying within our budget.
