You'll find a general store, carpentry and pattern making shop, a blacksmith shop, bakery, boarding houses, a blast furnace, a church....and more. Inside these buildings are a volunteer staff demonstrating the skills of the trades. What made my experience amazing is the ability to converse with the staff, dressed in appropriate time period clothes, as they explained the historic craft demonstrations and history of the village. The village is non-profit and is able to stay opened by donations and volunteers. Other various events such as weddings and fairs help keep the village opened. My visit was during the 4th Annual BBQ and Brew. On site we're numerous food truck serving up BBQ. For those who aren't into BBQ, there were food trucks serving up sweet treats and sausage & peppers. Alcoholic beverages (beer) were behind a gated area where everyone is carded before admittence. Once inside, tickets at $6 a piece are purchased for redemtion of a drink of whatever you want. In addition to the BBQ and Brews, various vendors were on site selling their unique crafts and a live band was providing the tunes. It was a fun time experiencing and learning about the village. Brie had the best time sniffing around the fields. Just a heads‑up: the tractor ride can be a little bumpy, so make sure your pup is comfortable. Right now, the sunflower field is in full beauty, and coming soon: apple, pumpkin, and gourd picking. The farm is open year‑round with fresh produce, a charming farm market, and seasonal home goods. Dogs are preferred outdoors, but if it is quiet, they may let your pup pop inside. Everyone who works here is incredibly friendly -- you can tell they truly love what they do. And right on the property is a Tomasello Winery tasting room, featuring a huge portfolio of New Jersey‑made wines. We did a 5‑wine tasting (which includes a souvenir glass!) and explored everything from grape wines to fruit wines, cider, and even cream‑infused varieties with over 50 different products. Plenty of towels, basket downstairs of shampoo/towels for post-beach shower even after check out, small library , fun and funky art on walls, laid-back and young, fun staff; dog Roscoe who hangs out, 100 nooks and crannies, both indoors and out, to hang out. Yogurts, various pastries and coffee/juice included. Towels for beach and big quilts if you want them. Just a great wraparound service place at the beach. The air conditioner is ice cold for those who need it, and they have a cool system where you put a little cap into the vent and you can block the air as well. Easy! Cons- The bed was not awful, but one of the less comfortable beds I've slept on in a lodging I've paid for. Also, no bathtubs. But I didn't ask. Oh, and if you go on Sunday, be aware that in this believin' town, the beaches are closed til post-worship 12:30 pm. Next time, I'd book earlier, skip the ocean view, and get the room with shared bath- that would be a real steal at the Ocean Vista! Will be back...
