I do not recommend this facility to anyone. We adopted a puppy end of June from the facility - they…read morewere very nice during the adoption. We were advised we could bring her back if things didn't work out. No time period was placed on the return. In Jan we called saying things were not working out - they said bring her back. We took her over there - then they became rude. Said they don't take back after 3 mos - nothing has ever been said about must return by 3 months. No suggestions on what to do. We have a dog that is not working out and I guess I must now call the pound and have her put down -- sad. She's a good dog, just not working out with us. By the way they have room to take her. We agreed to do a drop off fee- still refused. Unless your 100% --- do not adopt from this facility.

Sorry, but they have terrible attitudes. Recently after picking up a dog running across the hiway,…read moreand taking it to them, they REFUSED to take her. The door was locked, and a sign stating no surrenders before 1 p.m. They didn't care it wasn't my dog, that I was only trying to be a good human. One worker told me "this happens every day" Really? Isn't that the definition of insanity? How about we CHANGE POLICY then? After a lucky call, her owner was located. She had been missing two weeks. Earlier this week, there was a news story about dogs being dumped in Brown county. I wondered if any of those had been refused at the shelter door as well. I realize it's a donation private shelter, and they do what they can, but maybe it's time Brownwood has a city shelter that is open full time as we have so many irresponsible people here. It would be great to see legislation passed that unless you were a licensed breeder, your dogs must be spayed or neutered. Same for cats. This problem is preventable, but no one wants to change, seems common here.

Update: After spending $100 dollars on a DNA test because Debbie refused to send me pictures of my…read morepuppies parents we've found out he is a pure bred Pomeranian. This could've all been avoided if she just communicated, and was transparent. However, I still suspect She's a puppy broker. Hence why she never sends pictures of the sire and dam or allows you to visit their environment. Now she's selling mini schnauzers. It seems her breeds change often and she sells many types. RED FLAG. Getting the papers for this dog was a hassle. We drove 3 hours from LA to pick him and she did not have papers ready, I should've turned back around and went home as that was unprofessional. You do not make someone drive that far without everything being ready and prepared. For weeks I went back and forth with Debbie about the papers. As we did not receive them within the timeframe she promised. She was in the midst of moving to Texas. I paid to have the papers so I expected them whether she were busy moving or not. This is not how I do business. Fast forward we received paperwork, not even sure what it is. But we have to pay for our papers through CKC. Not what we were expecting to pay the fee. Everything should've been included. This is what happens when he was never registered and she scrambled for 2 months to get the paperwork. Never had to do this with my other dog. I believe she never had them, had no intentions on sending them and pretty much did re-filing and made us pay for it. She also mentioned well you're not breeding him so why do you need papers! Well because you said he comes with them and that's why we paid the hefty price tag! Fraud! Initial meeting - We met in a parking lot to exchange dog/payment. We were also not allowed to view the kennel. Where she kept the dogs, didn't get to meet the parents. I thought this was standard when purchasing a dog from a breeder! This is why we do it, to make sure a puppy mill isn't being ran and the pups are in great living conditions. Her excuse was germs and strangers. Huge mistake. Please request to see the kennel. So many bad unethical breeders these days. Do your RESEARCH and demand to see where the puppies live. Having a dog is a huge commitment. God forbid, these dogs have health issues down the line. You are now attached and will pay a pretty penny. This is not our first time owning a Pom, he looks completely different from our older dog, even bigger than her she is 7 pounds, and many ppl have asked me is he mixed. I'm sure he is, but Debbie will keep claiming he is pure bred. I love him regardless but I'm going to do a DNA test just to be sure. I'm tired of breeders ripping people off.

We have been using this pet sitting service for about five years. A woman named Leona runs it, and…read moreshe is a vet technician. The rates are very reasonable and our pets are always happy and healthy when we return (except one time, see below). The pet sitter brings treats for our pets and leaves whatever is left over, so when we're only gone a couple of days, we'll have a big bag of chicken jerky for the dogs and a bag of organic cat treats. Seriously, the pet sitter absolutely spoils our animals, and I don't feel guilty leaving for vacations now. The cats and dogs are groomed and played with, and then I get home and they're like, "Where's the pet sitter?" I recommend Peace of Mind Pet Sitting to all of my friends, and everybody raves about how great the service is. If you want to leave your animals at home while you are on vacation, I just can't say enough good things about this service. She also takes care of any medical care, so if our dog needs to take pills while we are gone, we can depend on her to administer them. Now, the ONE TIME we returned and our animals were not all healthy and happy: Our old-man dog used to climb our trees and then jump out of them, and we knew eventually he would hurt himself. Well, of course that happened while we were on vacation. He jumped out of the tree, caught himself on the fence, and broke his leg. The pet sitter immediately took the dog to the vet and paid for the x-ray and pain meds herself. She felt so guilty (because she didn't know our dog did this ALL THE TIME). She was very upfront about the accident and very apologetic, and even offered to pay the medical bills since it happened on her watch. As she is a vet tech, we instead just took her recommendations for a good vet surgeon who would fix our dog for a good price and do good work. She saved us about $3,000 on the surgery with her recommendation. Now, our dog is still doing awesome and still loves the pet sitter. He doesn't climb trees, though!
