Well....have your Google translate handy when you enter this restaurant because the menu is written…read morein French and the servers speak very little English. That being said, the food is very good here. The flavor in the duck I had was unique - it tasted like it was marinated in some type of sauce for a while before it was cooked. Every piece of that meat was bursting with flavor. You also have to try their upside down apple pie - it was a really good treat to top of a meal. This place gets packed quickly so you may want come early or get reservations.

I really recommend the "croquettes de crevettes" (shrimp croquettes) as a starter. In English " to die for", in French "une tuerie". Though, beware, the portion is VERY generous; especially for a jet-lagged stomach. For the main dish, in Summer I would recommend the "Tartare de boeuf" (I am a meat aficionado) which is basically raw minced beef that you "prepare" yourself with egg yolk and spices. In winter their "Stoemp" is my favourite (sausages + mashed potatoes cum mashed vegetables). You shall come out of this place filled and wishing your stomach was not still in the middle of the Atlantic. I skipped desert as a result, hence I cannot offer any suggestions. Vegetarian dishes are also on the menu BTW.

I love African food & their restaurants but sometimes you crave a restaurant experience while there's a lack there of. Not a Kanodou! You enter a nice interior with dimmed lights that put you at ease & convey intimacy. The restaurant owner Mustafa was the perfect host: he answered every question with a kindness and a smile. He recommended terrific meals to us. The service overall deserves a 10/10, the best I've gotten in an African restaurant thus far. Now comes what you're most interested in: the food & the drinks! I'm not exaggerating when I say heavenly! The juice mocktail was one of the best I've tasted thus far and don't let me start on the Lamb mafe: first time and it was my best choice. The lamb melted in my mouth, this together with a well balanced peanut sauce. Yes! African food in a cozy, quality, intimate & rich setting: the perfect combination!

At least some of the people running it are from Senegal, and the whole fish I ordered was at least as good as my local Senegalese restaurant in the U.S. The vegetable potage I ordered was excellent and not too greasy. Kanadou also had a decent selection of drinks.
