EAT! Brussels is a food festival where you are able to discover different restaurants in Brussels…read more The event features a vast variety of different kinds of food, from Asian and African to traditional Belgian fare and other European foods as well. All are served in smaller portions, starting at 6eur. In terms of quality, you are able to try high quality (meaning: not fried) food that the vendor normally serves in their restaurant. Each vendor normally offers at least a few different dishes. Drinks are also available and can be purchased using tokens (Belgian festivals sure love their tokens for drinks). Honestly, I can't remember all the different vendors/restaurants I tried while here as I would share with my boyfriend so we had quite a mix of foods. What I can tell you is that it is all delicious! You can also purchase goods to take home with you from the Artisans' Village, which features different goodies from all over. Last time I went, I came home with a maple spread (to go with the pancakes I love to make)! Location is in Bois de la Cambre, which is one of my favorite parks in Brussels--it almost makes you forget your are in the city! The venue is set outdoors, which is great when the weather is nice (was the case when they first introduced the event in 2012), but not ideal when the weather doesn't cooperate (happened in 2013, I didn't end up braving the bad weather when we planned to go). EAT! Brussels is held usually in mid-September. Seeing as the event has only been around for 2 years, I really hope they keep it going and have it again in 2014 (and that the weather is nice!). Tip: make sure to bring plenty of cash as I don't believe you can use cards to pay and I have no idea where the nearest ATM is located. Depending on how much you plan to eat and drink, I would recommend bringing 40-50 eur just to be safe. Hope to see you all there in September 2014 (assuming they continue the event)!!

Lasagña was t bad either. You have to try Belgium waffles while in Belgium, obviously. Servers were friendly but forgot about a few of our dishes. We waited forever until everyone got their food. We sat outside during a rainy day but the restaurant itself seemed classic with a wooden rustic vibe.

I ordered the Rabbit Stew…read morein Kriek Beer (€26), which was more like two large pieces of meat cooked in stew but not actually a stew (with some fries too). The rabbit meat was surprisingly tender and the stew/sauce added some nice flavor. For those who haven't had rabbit before, it takes kind of like chicken to be honest, just with smaller bones. I think the price was okay considering the quality and type of dish. The fresh grapefruit juice (€5.80) was very good too. The staff are very friendly, helpful, and attentive. I was seated right away and the service speed was pretty quick. They have a decently sized indoor space as well as outdoor patio seating. The environment has a traditional Belgian restaurant/pub kind of vibe. Overall, Le Bistro has high quality traditional Belgian food in a pleasant setting and I would definitely recommend it if you are in the area near Porte de Hal / Marollen.
