Lamb sausage poutine (Poutine " la viennoise ")
    Daniel C.

We were at this location on a Friday evening and you knew it was good because both locals and tourists packed this place. Our party of 4 decided to get takeout as we wanted to catch a show that night and didn't want to wait. We ordered 3 poutines. Space: not a huge space but they use it effectively. There's one outdoor seating if the weather is good. Probably wouldn't come with a large group. Parking: Lots of street parking available in the area but can be hard to find a spot just because it's such a popular area. We did find a parking space about 5 min away. Service: There only seemed to be 3 guys working. One running the tables, one doing fries/plating/packing and one on the grill. Those 3 guys were working their butts off! Even with 2 take out orders ahead of us, a full house, and a line out the door, they got all 3 poutines done in 20 min for us! Kudos to those 3 dudes! Food: For those who don't know poutines (unacceptable if you're a Canadian), poutines are fries, cheese curds and gravy. The fries were fresh and delicious. We saw a bunch of people come and order just fries and sauce for takeout - that is a very good sign. The cheese curds were great - very squeaky and tasty. Finally, gravy was flavorful without being super salty which is another very good sign. You need to hit all 3 of these items to make a great poutine which I think they did! 1) canarduck poutine - this poutine comes with pulled duck. Lots of pulled duck and it was very juicy. This easily beats any pulled pork poutine. If you like duck, you'll like how much duck meat you get. 2) la tunisienne - comes with lamb sausage and grilled onions. The lamb is quite good, had a bit of a kick and very herby. Only complaint is I felt the herbs and spice may have overpowered the lamb flavor. The onions didn't add much - they might have been better sautéed. 3) la menace nucléaire " (Bœuf bbq coréen) - this has beef bulgogi, kimchi, green onions and sesame seeds. The beef was done well - not dry, kimchi was good. Overall I thought this was a good dish but the beef didn't taste like bulgogi - seemed more like a more tangy and more ginger-y beef. It has note of bulgogi but leans more on the sweet and sour pork flavors. Still a really good contrast and balance of flavors. Price - a regular is somewhere between 12-14$ so it's on the somewhat more pricey end of things but overall really good still. If your looking for a good poutine and willing to spend a little for better quality - frites alors! has got you covered.

Delicious frites, I got the ones with the smoked meat. The service was good. Nice ambiance.

Seriously DELICIOUS and perfect poutine...Sadly, the worst burger I've ever had in my entire life.

Excellent poutine...but... We ordered the bacon and sausage poutine, and a cheeseburger. The poutine was fantastic. The fries were fresh and crisp, the sauce super rich and flavorful. Huge portion. The burger was literally the worst I have ever had. I asked the waiter to have it cooked rare, and he informed me that due to local law, it had to be cooked to a certain temp. Ok, I understand, please cook it as rare as you're legally allowed to. So, I was presented with a rubbery, super well done hockey puck on a ciabatta roll. The roll was great, the fries were delicious, and the remoulade sauce was perfect ..but that burger was the worst. I took the burger home, thinking I could salvage it...it needed moisture...but even after adding more mayo, some relish, and a few shakes of Worcestershire sauce ...my efforts were in vain. It was a sad, chewy grey mass of tasteless, rubbery flesh. To be honest, I think it was deep fried and therefore cooked to shit. I ended up eating the bun, and said a prayer for the poor cow who gave it's life for such a tragedy as I lowered it into the trash. So, go for the poutine...it's fantastic. Don't get the burgers. You've been warned. Lol

    Regular. Small. Add bacon.

Now THIS is poutine. Small regular poutine. Add bacon. Leave Quebec happy. High quality curds, gravy, and crispy fries. Open 11:30 till 9.

Decent poutine; I took mine to go which I think, made the fries a bit soggy. Next time I will sit down and eat in. I tried: - la Cochonne: Lardons maison et oignons grilles - the best part of this was the homemade pork pieces, which reminded me of braised pork belly. I wish they had more pieces of pork! - le Canarduck: Effiloché de canard et sauce ribs maison - the shredded duck on top was VERY tender, but there were no other ingredients; perhaps they could of added more veggies! Their fries looked delicious; many people walked in for takeout of just that, so I would try that next time. The workers look happy and were very courteous, and it was an open kitchen.

Frites alors grilled cheese is amazing... so many things with the cheese!!

I love it here, I ate here Saturday and came back Sunday. The poutine is very good. The interior is pleasant. The service is speedy. My children liked the breaded chicken but wouldn't eat the burger... their loss. I may go back tonight.

    The classic poutine 'Vladimir'
    David S.

The poutine place to be. After choosing from a extensive list of options you will get the best poutine you've ever had. Whether you choose the classic 'vladimir' or the more complex 'canarduck' or 'la tacos' you will have a great meal. There is no wifi, but you won't need it because your focus will be on the food in front of you. Note: you cannot pay with credit card. Debet and cash are the way to go.

Our family of 5 Australians on holidays ate at this restaurant. It's a really interesting place because you wouldn't even know there's a restaurant there. It's very small and cosy. We sat at the bar and loved watching the meals being prepared. The food was sensational. The portions are large in my opinion. The service was prompt and the staff were very friendly. Lovely variety of the traditional Quebec Poutines. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal here and would recommend it to anyone.

    Poutine (the meats and alore)

New Yorkers visiting Quebec... The poutine here was scrumptious. A must! We ordered the meats and the alore along with beer. Service was great. They spoke English well enough to explain the food to us.

    This guys knnow their poutines.

These guys know how to make their poutine. We came late at night 11pm after a few snack in the city. We tried La Cochonne as recommended by the server in a to go box. We ate it in the car on the way back to hotel. We opened the box and we we found big chucks of bacon and grilled and sauted onions on top of the fires along with the gravy and chees curds. Not too greasy or salty very light and we ended up with less guilt even with the bacons on top. Very suttle amd tasty. Very recommended if you are in Quebec witha little drive or bus trip but worth it.

Good fries, but the gravy was pretty bland. Was expecting better. However the service was good and friendly.

The passing trays looked amazing but we couldn't find seating to save our lives so we struck out to look for another location nearby. You start with a base: quinoa, rice, bulgur, fries (poutine), or lettuce. You choose a number of chicken tenders in one or two flavors, then choose from a variety of toppings. The staff here *understandably* is not great in English, which can of course change depending on where you go and when you come. This was one of our first stops before my high school/college French instruction "clicked on" again, so ordering was mildly stressful for our family. It would have been nice if there were some pre-designed bowl recipes to select from (like Cava, for example). For those of you willing to play the language barrier game, the sky is the limit in terms of how you can personalize your bowl. Like every Quebecois dining establishment, this fast food chain is head and shoulders above any American equivalent. Even their poutine (which can be messed up, I assure you) was among the top poutines I've eaten. This is a great place to grab a quick meal, as light or heavy as you require.

St. Hubert is a huge part of Quebec's contemporary lifestyle. It all started with one restaurant on St. Hubert Street in Montreal back in 1951, and now there are 117 locations. The so called bun that came with the dinner was like the bottom of a tasteless dry hamburger bun. I was expecting a dinner roll. The caesar salad lettuce was cut into way too small leaves and the parmesan cheese tasted old/dry. The ice tea was a lot of ice in a small glass. Tasted like a powder mix. The food was below average and it was like going to Denny's to eat. I would not eat here or any other St Hubert restaurant.
