When my life falls into a state of disarray, I've realized that one of the first things I let slip are the state of my brows. So, naturally, as I have finally settled into the city, maintaining these bush-babies was at the very tip top of my list of priorities.
Because I'm particular as hell about my bush-babies, finding a salon that threads was no joke, nor was it an easy task. It wasn't even a matter of finding a top notch place--it was simply a matter of finding a place that threaded. Period. Therefore, you can probably imagine my excitement when I finally came upon one--Friseursalon Hatice.
Now, I should probably mention that I'm a fairly agreeable person. Easy-going, easy to please, the whole shebang. But when it comes to my brows, I'm fairly particular and nit-picky. I like them even (sisters, not twins), full (not over-plucked), well groomed, and tidy. I mean--I would imagine that those are some fairly standard and reasonable requests, are they not?
So, about Friseursalon Hatice. It's a little hole in the wall, and for those of you that know me, you know how I like my hole-in-the-walls. I was pretty much ready to fall in love with the little joint. The staff was welcoming--however, they did mention that I should probably make an appointment next time (I simply walked in). But let's get down to the nitty-gritty--the brows. Let's just say that there's probably a reason why the supply of salons that thread in Berlin is lacking--because those that can't thread, don't offer the service, and those that offer the service, probably shouldn't thread. It was catastrophic. I know I'm being dramatic, but we're talking about my precious bush-babies here.
Needless to say, I was extremely unhappy with the outcome. My bushy caterpillars were reduced to an uneven and patchy mess. It's nothing that time and a bit of brow makeup can't and won't heal, but if you're looking for brows-on-fleek, I'd take a pass on Friseursalon Hatice. You can't win them all. read more
