I've been able to "fill in" to care for my Mom but I'm exhausted. Can't count on them to come through. Thank goodness my Mom is of sound mind but unfortunately in a wheelchair with limited mobility. She doesn't require lifting-she can transfer to chair and bed. But she can't prepare her meals or shower and needs this assistance.
