We were very pleasantly surprised to find authentic South Indian food in Melbourne, more so because we had just returned from a trip to the South India and has eaten and gotten used to the authentic taste, not diluted one. We ordered Medhu Vada and Idli and loved Medu Vada so much that we ordered another plate. Idli, which they said they had cooked that evening (we were there around 8pm), tasted fresh. The sambhar (lentil soup served with most dishes) was just absolutely delicious. We also ordered and loved Mysore Masala Dosa for my wife. The Mysore Masala was definitely worth the wait! Generous portions, really good chutney's, delicious food and to top it off, a well priced menu. My wife also ordered Chettinadu Goat Curry, Non Veg soup and loved it.
we didn't really have any service problems on a Saturday evening for a party of 8. In fact they were kind enough to let us know, it's going to take a while (Understandable for newly opened restaurant, but they should get more chef in kitchen to meet the demand).
And if you compare this with Old Madras Banyan Tree which we thought was the closest comparison to South Indian food, This one wins by miles! Would highly recommend to seasoned Indian food lovers and those who are curious and wanna try. read more
