And, so it was. I scored a lovely greeting on my arrival for lunch. I quickly settled on a lunch combo. Two meat, - butter chicken and goat - rice, raita and salad. I also ordered a butter naan. This is a cleverly composed lunch combo. The food is great. The size is spot on. Tastes bang on too. Pretty much a perfect lunch of this type. Service was lovely throughout as well. The shop front is a dollop of bright primary school colours tucked amongst the car dealerships and pawn shops of the less dense, North Melbourne end of Elizabeth St. In contrast, the inside is your typical sparse and oh-so-slightly cramped budget décor, but the customers tend to take care of the atmosphere with amiable chat and snippets of laughter. Food is served in traditional copper and other metallic serving pots on tables with easily cleanable tablecloths. The curries are made without a hint of stinginess, with full flavoured ingredients that are never overcooked. The highlights are some of your curry staples; the Vindaloo (lamb or chicken), Prawn Massala and Shahi Paneer (cheese is a creamy tomato sauce). The most expensive dish is a mere $12, and the naan bread is extra soft. Classic Curry Company is an almost obligatory experience for every Melbourne University student, but you could say the same for everybody else as well. We were seated right away and you couldn't help but notice the nice colourful decor and the authentic Indian music playing. Their menu is wide and varied and has a good selection of Vegan options if that's you. The Samosas were really good. The pastry was nice, crisp and moreish and the filling was perfect with just the right amount of tang. For main, the Butter Chicken was also cooked perfectly (though there was a slight hint of a processed taste to the chicken, which I didn't really love), and the sauce was magnificent. The garlic naan and rice were also perfect. They had been very accommodating in any request we had to have meals modified, which was very good and helpful. Would I recommend coming here? Yes, I would. Very much. The food was lovely, the staff were friendly and accomodating, the pricing is reasonable, and along the lines of many other restaurants. Parking at times can be a little hard, but right now it's easy enough, but don't let anything deter you from trying it here because you'll be glad you did.

However the serves were all that huge, which was a little disappointing. Still, the meal was pretty cool, and the service was quite nice as well. Don't expect anything all that flash, and certainly don't expect the authentic Indian feel either. However, the type of Indian restaurant I like is one that does a good curry, and one that does goat, and this certainly delivers on that. The problem is that since it is in Hawthorn, and that there is another one next door, I'm not likely to be running back here too quickly.
