If feeling adventurous then one could also hike down to the beach itself but this would add a few more hours. Being quite popular at least the parking lot was large so no worries about finding a spot. A large map and guidance boards provided a good overview of the hiking options, warnings and some history. Typical park bathrooms (functional and mostly clean) were available. If you're lucky you may even come across a wallaby or two. The conditions at the lookout was overcast in fall but still a worthwhile vantage point to see this landmark and the surrounding park. At the top the modern walkways made it easy to traverse, setup photos from many vantage points without the crowds or just relax on some of the rock benches that day.

Named for its unique crescent-shaped shoreline, the bay's curve resembles the rim of a wineglass when viewed from above. Its name, however, comes from a darker past. In the 19th century, the bay was used for whaling, and the waters would turn red, completing the "wineglass" imagery. Thankfully, today, it is just a beautiful beach. Getting to Wineglass Bay is an adventure in itself. The hike begins at the national park's entrance and offers a challenging uphill hike. We did the almost 8 mile hike up to wineglass lookout, over to Hazards Beach, then back to the parking lot. It was a great hike through mountains, to beaches, and through the bush. So many places to lookout and see the water. Loved the hike along Hazards Beach to see the shells and blue water. The trails are well groomed and well marked. The steps up to the first and second lookout are a gradual steep climb so you aren't immediately climbing. It allows you to enjoy the scenery more.

It has the best views, pristine beaches, and rugged landscapes. Hikes and walks are everywhere. Pick one. The crown jewel of the park is Wineglass Bay, a crescent-shaped beach with dazzling white sands and turquoise waters. We hiked up to the lookout and it doesn't seem real. It's worth every step. The wildlife is equally exciting. Everything is making tons of noises. Wallabies are hopping about and diverse birdlife can be spotted throughout the park. It's not uncommon to find a curious wallaby grazing near the trails. Freycinet is also a haven for seashells the beaches are covered in them. For lunch, make sure you go picnicking by Honeymoon Bay. It's one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. The water looks dyed. I couldn't believe it.

The staff were great; the guides were informative and obviously committed to the animals and all the staff were friendly. We were there for the devil and quoll feedings - and had time with the wombats of course! The park adjoins a lagoon and wetlands and is much bigger than you'd expect. The features included a large walk-through aviary and an historic walk to the remains of Bicheno's early coal mine. We stayed for lunch at the cafe and were glad we did - simple but fresh and well made. This park was one of the highlights of our stay in Bicheno.

The highlight is undoubtedly the clear and bright teal water. I couldn't believe the color of the water. This spot is the ultimate lunch spot. We packed simple sandwiches and ate amongst the begging seagulls. We sat on some of the smooth rocks and soaked in the serene atmosphere. The weather was perfect--crisp and sunny.

But trust me on this: if you have limited time but an unlimited thirst for adventure, choose Mt Amos. There are quite a few hikes you can take within Freycinet National Park, and I'm certainly not an expert as I only did a handful, but Mt Amos stood so far and above the other hikes that it's worth a Yelp review of its own. Not for the faint hearted, there were many times that I couldn't believe I wasn't strapped into a harness because the grade was so steep and slippery. But the challenge getting to the top make the views all the sweeter. And sweet they are: you have a 360 panoramic of the entire bay - it's completely mind blowing. Top tips: plan for much longer than 3-hours. We felt rushed and did it in 4. Wear shoes that have solid grip on the bottom. And don't do your nails beforehand - they're about to get destroyed. Enjoy every second, you'll be thinking about the view from the top for the rest of your life.

It is hard to get there, but paradise awaits. Looking down on Great Oyster Bay and out at the Hazards Peaks, you will be treated to superb food, fun activities (we ate oysters standing in wader boots at a table literally in the sea), an amazingly caring staff, and stellar rooms with floor to ceiling windows looking at a jaw dropping view. Room, activities, food, alcohol are all included in the shamefully expensive price. Highly recommended.

Their high staff to guest ratio ensures that all your needs can be taken care of. The view is spectacular and you just can't get sick of it! The food and wine here is amazing, and we worked with their head chef for him to prepare us a special dinner with items we wanted. There are plenty of include excursions that you can sign up for and activities that you can do at leisure. I definitely recommend going to the oyster farm and sampling oysters in the bay, even if you don't like oysters! I think in the group of 5 that was on my outing, I was the only one who really really really loved oysters! Just the experience itself is unique enough to try out! But just like Darryn T.'s review, the one downside is the tiny tiny gym. I mean, it was so small that I really couldn't do a side lunge without standing at some weird angle. Definitely awkward if there's someone else in their that you don't know.
