We were seated--though it was a problem without reservations--by a very able and competent server. Then, after ordering drinks we were told that an online reservation had been made as we were seated, and we would have to leave!!! I asked to see a manager--and he was fairly clueless and unable or unwilling to help in any way. Never--and we travel a lot--have I been asked to leave a table after ordering. Especially maddening was a vacant downstairs with 40-50 tables and only, maybe 20% occupancy upstairs. How long does it take to eat a friggin' taco? To top it all off, I asked the cook downstairs, "¿Es la comida auténtica en sus sabores?" To which he answered, "Nei." On holiday and wanted to try this restaurant as it was recommended by a friend. We showed up 1.5 hours before they opened and spoke with the staff. We informed them we didn't have a reservation and inquired if they could fit us in. The employee's said yes and to come back at 4 PM. We were there as they opened the door, first in line, and they turned us away saying they were full and had no opening. We explained that we inquired earlier and were told to come back at opening and they would fit us in and we're still denied. I'd have loved to try this, but I feel compelled to leave a review as this was very deceitful. If they would have said no, we would have went elsewhere, but we waited 1.5 hours for them to open expecting them to honor their word. read more

Ensure you make a reservation before you go. We waited an hour for out food. Food takes a long time to get to the table but the servers were very friendly. The portions are small and the prices are high. The taste was very good for all of the meat. The potatoes were perfectly seasoned and cooked with garlic. Since covid the potion size has reduced. I was on my way to another Mexican restaurant when I stumbled across this hidden gem, and I am glad I did. I ordered the chips and guac appetizer and the house made guac was A-1. The chicken fajita plate was amazing, except the rice could have used a tiny bit more seasoning. They give you three great sauces to try with your meal. We went here after a recommendation from a colleague - plus reading a little on yelp. It was a good meal and we left with a happy and content smile on our faces. I would recommend though to order some extra spices to the salsa since it the food is not spicy at all. Being a swede I know we scandinavians doesn't spice up the food very much, but this is a bit too scandinavian for me. So, please ask for some extra spices to complement the otherwise very tasty food. We ordered the mixed platter for min. 2 people - a great way of trying many sorts of food without having to put all eggs in one basket - highly recommended. We had two kinds of quesadilla, corn, two different sorts of meat, and some mixed salsas and bowls of fun. Who woulda' thunk one would come to Norway for Mexican! Well anything is possible and Frida's is certainly worth a visit; however, if one has dined in a Mexican restaurant in the southern states, keep an open mind. The food is great, don't get me wrong, but it is more like a challenge off of Top Chef where the chefs have to deconstruct a traditional Mexican dish and make it more contemporary. Great greeting at the front and got a seat right away. Drink orders were quickly taken and our waitress helped us through the menu. They bring out 3 little bowls of salsas for you supper as opposed to a bowl full or tortilla dips and house salsa (I guess you can order that separately). the mains arrived and the feast began. The enchilada was very tasty but nothing like I've experienced before. Gone is the traditional tortilla surrounding all the goodies with gobs of melted cheese, sour cream and guacamole on top. Rather out comes an elegant dish with a couple of flattened chicken breasts in a very tasty sauce. The chicken mole was a generous portion of chicken with a very rich mole. The side of potatoes were nicely done and the rice was flavourful, but not what we have come to be familiar with in a southern style Mexican establishment. Being from Texas, my hopes weren't set too high for this spot, but I ended up being pleasantly surprised. Great selection of Mexican beer and drinks. The food could have used a bit more spice/heat but was well prepared otherwise. Our service was also great. I will definitely be returning. read more

People seem to love this place, everyone I know who's been there is recommending it and keeps returning - but I can't say I share this opinion... The food is good. But the atmosphere and the space of the restaurant is awful. Located in a below-ground floor in Fjordgata. Terrible huge chairs that don't fit their tables, you sit way too far from your company. read more
