Pure artistry! It's rare to see a product match its beautiful photographed image but this bakery is turning out the most artful gorgeous pastries that look too pretty to eat and are damn delicious! Having just travelled to the Nordics this year it was so fun to see a Nordic style cafe in a small town! These bakers are so extremely talented. We both ordered the jalapeño and cheese croissant and there were so many flakey thin buttery layers of goodness. It's rare to see so many layers these days but they clearly take their time here to make a very perfected product. We would have gotten more but we were just driving through. We did pick up two coffees, I tried the vanilla foam coffee which was great the foam was the star of this one. Highly recommend you must stop here if you ever find yourself in Campbell River!! read more

Very nice looking pastries but the prices were steep. It was about $11 CAD for a cruffin! There was modern seating inside. They also have a branch in Campbell River BC which I drove by and it was not as spacious as this location. read more

Nice interior friendly service. Delicious pastries and coffee. Popular with locals and tourists.

We've just discovered a new place where you can buy amazing European bread, enjoy a delicious coffee, and try exquisite croissants. It's a modern, clean, and very bright spot in Courtenay. It's a new experience for us--something fresh and contemporary. The taste and appearance of the croissants are worth every penny, and the European bread is exactly what we've been searching for all these years. read more

Delicious, yes! Expensive, yes! I always try to judge a croissant bakery by their plain croissant but they were out when I got there. I had a chocolate croissant which is strange because I don't normally like chocolate croissants and it's also strange that I subsequently loved it! The filling was a soft dark chocolate with a fabulous soft texture and extraordinary flavour. The dough was flaky and rich and delicious. The chocolate croissant was $6, some of the other fancier croissants were $9-12, not cheap but it seems the quality is worth it for the occasional splurge. Nice shop too, nice selection of seating. I'd go here again. read more

Delicious baked goods! Every single one I tried is amazing! People that complain about the price don't understand quality over quantity. I'll be a regular for sure read more

If I could sum up our experience, the attached photo would say it all. We had a confusing experience with a soft spoken and dainty barista. Then were AGHAST at the $15 croissants displayed behind the counter. Im not sure how many croissants one must sell to afford rent down here but my guess is about 10-15 should cover it... The ambience here was oddly pretentious, like we stumbled into a jazz hall that also serves as Montessori daycare; modestly furnished from a used IKEA auction. No water jug was discovered, but the espresso was decent. We left feeling elevated and parched. Is that eucalyptus even real? All jokes aside, we likely wont be back. C+ from us! read more

I am shocked at the stars in the is. Look at the not recommended reviews. Why are they not? They are very good? We got a quiche slice and an almond croissant and it was like heaven came to a fishing village. The espresso drinks are wonderful. The young lady working was kind and personable and efficient. Beautiful space inside. Lovely strolling outside. read more

Goid croissants and coffee, but a bit pricey for my budget to frequent regularly. Great service and warm, inviting atmosphere.

Over-priced for small croissants. Last time I stopped by for just a coffee, their dispenser was empty to had to wait until they brewed more. read more

Wonderful shop! Nice selection and very friendly and accommodating. It's a cute shop with good seating. I believe the prices are worth the quality. May be pricey for some, but you get what you pay for. The amount of work involved in making croissants is labor intensive and appreciated ! Keep it up. read more

Cute as it is, this place is an absolute ripoff. I cannot stress how much of a rip off. Save yourself your money and go spend it at another bakery. This place will cost you an arm, a leg and your remaining limbs too and you'll still be hungry after! Not at all worth the money you'll spend. I've had more reasonably priced pastries in Paris, common! read more

Great service and wonderful recommendations! we tried the raspberry ganache, the vanilla cream and the cheese and prosciutto. All of them were so amazing! read more

Just participated in Freyja's croissant baking workshop. What a fantastic learning, hands on experience! I was impressed with the owners' generosity, and their enthusiasm and demand for excellence in their products. They use only the highest quality ingredients, whether the creamiest butter, high protein flour, pure homemade jams, custards, ganaches, and multi-flavoured chocolates. I discovered just how labour intensive croissant baking is, 27 layers of butter!! Their delicious fancy croissants are well worth the price. As my husband and I drove down to the ferry we picked up two 8 oz cups of coffee and hot chocolate for a total of $10. I asked my husband how labour intensive were these drinks compared to the croissants? And how many rich ingredients are in these drinks? We agreed that, by comparison, Freyja's fancy croissants were a far better deal! read more
