The equivalent back home in NS was No Frills, which I also enjoyed frequenting. Pros: - Very convenient location - I live right down the road and have found the South End to be convenient for just about everything I regularly need (banks, library, Dollarama, etc.). - A bus stop right by the parking lot and one across the street. - Fairly large parking lot. - As I'd mentioned earlier, the prices and deals are fantastic! Produce, meat, dairy, grocery...I've never found anything too expensive. I've compared prices in a few different stores and Food Basics wins out almost every time. - The selection is quite good - lots of variety in produce and a pretty darn good International Foods section means I'm content. - This location doesn't seem to be as hectic as the store on Notre Dame (thank god). I haven't had any issues getting in and out of the store in a reasonable amount of time. - My cats really like the grocery boxes I bring home. - Staff are pleasant. Cons: - Shopping carts are located outside, which I don't especially like, and they tend to take up too many spots in the parking lot. The cart corrals are often overflowing. In summary, this particular Food Basics has a lifelong customer in me.

Although they do have a massive selection compared to Walmart and you can actually buy many Canadian products and some from the local area such as: honey and coffee. If you like those specific healthy food they have it here. Good if your looking for something specific or better produce than Walmart. They surprised me with what products in bulk you can buy that Costco doesn't always have such as a 1.5kg tub of Greek yogurt, or huge tub of margarine. Not so hectic or stressful or give you that uncomfortable feeling when you look around at Walmart at all their ceiling lights. I got a great price on some clearance Legos in their massive Lego section. Comparing it to Walmart I feel you have a better opportunity to potentially save money on certain items as I feel Walmart is very fixed while this store puts on more sales/ deals. Along with using pc points or buying the No Name Brand It'd save you money to come here too. You do need a loonie for the carts but the universe and kindness of others has blessed me some of the time. Just watch out in the parking lot, but again it's not so hectic and more walkable unlike Walmart. I'd honestly prefer this store over No Frills as their prices and selection sucks. Im definitely adding this store to my rotation of Smiths market, Walmart and Costco. Shop local and Canadian when you can guys and vote with your dollars!!
