I have been shopping fresh thyme for years, recently as I was in line, the young woman working the counter.....the only counter not self check started talking about how they understand older people are scared of the self check out machines.....EXCUSE ME???? I stood there with my mouth hanging open - shocked at the demeaning comments and the assumption to classify a group as SCARED of the machines .... her comments just kept coming ... as she loudly repeated the comment like it would suddenly be better. THEN since I was now just standing, staring at her, she took my cc out of my hand and showed me how to run my card.....SERIOUS?? Now as I go through line, I repeat the details, let them know....I do tech troubleshooting for a living AND I am 58 yrs young..lol....and I stand in line for all of the people who disappeared when the self check out lanes showed up to the make sure managers do not decide, more people are not needed... I have heard so many good things about Fresh Thyme's location in Waite Park, and I can't believe it took me so long to visit. Located near Pizza Ranch and Five Below, it's very easy to find and has a big parking lot for customers. The second we walked through the doors, I was taken aback by how cute the grocery store is. The way it's designed gives a very neat and clean look. We immediately went to the bakery section and found giant loafs of French bread for $1.99...$1.99?! Pinch me, I'm dreaming! We got several loafs to bring home. I'd also recommend buying their soup here. They have multiple types of soup and you can get a cup for $2.49! After walking through the entire store and buying some fruits and veggies, I noticed that certain items are overpriced compared to other local grocery stores. I will say that the quality/freshness of the produce at Fresh Thyme is among the best of them. A round of applause to the violinist and guitarist who were playing different tunes to enhance our shopping experience...I don't know if they are always at Fresh Thyme, but I appreciated seeing them there last weekend! It's nice to see an alternative grocery store in the St. Cloud/Waite Park area. I stopped in for the store's grand opening. Unfortunately, I wasn't one of the first 250 customers, so I didn't snag a free bag of groceries. Those were given away by five minutes after opening. The store was incredibly crowded and difficult to navigate in and the lines were quite long. Still, I was able to get out rather quickly. The store is set up like most other grocery stores, with a deli area, a salad bar, a large produce section, dairy, natural products area, bulk bins, and butcher. The meats in the butcher case looked really incredible - various flavors of brats and sausage, seasoned chicken breasts, and more. I'd focus my time here. I purchased a bakery item, which was dry and can't compare to what I can find elsewhere in town. Fresh Thyme is known for their organic and healthy products at a pretty good price. The prices aren't as inexpensive as you'd find at Aldi, but are close for some items. I was able to pick up blackberries (on sale) for 77 cents, bananas for 49 cents a pound and inexpensive red grapes. The store is a manageable size. It's not a superstore, so you'll be able to get in and out fairly quickly. The decor is bright and cheerful. The employees were friendly. I'd think that if you price watch this would be a good place to go for meats, bulk food items, and produce. It's located near Five Below in the former Kmart space. You don't have to pay to rent your cart (like Aldi's). read more

I like the newest addition to waite park. I have only gone twice but it has a lot of options that most other stores don't. I liked the low calorie options for sauces and condiments and the Indian food options in the freezer area. A person could spend a lot of time and money here for sure. I've heard the salad bar is a nice option and the items are very fresh. My co workers get this all the time ok their lunch breaks. One of my favorite grocery stores ever. It's like a Whole Foods but more affordable. Their sales are always great and they usually have everything I need. I love going there on a Wednesday because it's double add day and you can get the sales from last week and the current week.. They also give rain checks for anything that is out of stock. This is the only grocery store I shop at. It's like Whole Foods meets Trader Joe's. Really reminds me of Rainbow Grocery Co-op in San Francisco, which I dearly miss. The quality of produce is not even comparable to the other grocery stores. I went to Econo Foods and just walked out. Their produce section was sad and meat & poultry section was disgusting! Love all the organic foods & the non-GMO labeled goods. Their deli items are amazing & i am addicted to their pre-made salads. The Vitamin section is unbelievable. It's like 3 rows!! A common sentiment in St. Cloud: its great to finally have some additional grocery store options aside from Corborns/Cash Wise. This store is a great, medium sized grocery store, a cross between Trader Joe's and Hy-Vee. Like Trader Joe's lines to check out are long. The store is filled with a variety of "heathy" and organic brands, many which I personally have never heard of. There are frequent sales and prices are about average (sometimes high, sometimes low). Ok! Similar to Trader Joes, but a tad larger with more selections. Easy to navigate, truly fresh and many things are crazy inexpensive. Blackberries were $.98 and at Coborns on sale at $2.50. And on and on.... It's really great to have some variety in St. Cloud now. While Coborns has been the main stage it is grown increasingly expensive, very expensive! Id have to say with the BOGO deal and awesome meat market and cheeses at Byerlys, along with Fresh Thyme pretty much cover big majority of grocery needs. The employees are very friendly, I will definitely give them that. Probably why I didn't leave my cart with $90 worth of food in it. This was the third time I have been here, they have fair quality produce. it seems within a week if I don't eat it it goes bad, actually more like within five days. Today I stood in line for 20 minutes before I finally asked her to call in another cashier. There is no reason for that! With the prices that we pay in there they should be able to afford an extra cashier Debating on whether or not I'll be going back! The manager needs to pay attention to his customers. I'm one of those odd folks that actually enjoys grocery shopping. I discovered this one purely by accident and, wow, am I glad I did. Beautiful produce. Amazing bakery. Fun and different non-perishables. Loved the variety of 'bin' selections. I bought several things I'd never seen before! The gentleman who checked me out was super pleasant. The store was clean and well lit. Not claustrophobic as some 'natural' grocers are. Of course, some things are a bit pricy, but I just HAD to try the single serving cedar plank Asian salmon. OK...hate to be a Debbie Downer...but....I/we've shopped there several times. NO fresh unfrozen fish...other than yellow perch. We had been told lots of unfrozen seafood options....not. Opted for the chicken kebabs. Chickens was tough!! I mean rubbery hard inedible tough. We have had Byerly's Kebob's dozens of times and they are consistently tasty and tender. Go for it! This is the review of the meat market. I called to find out if they had a chuck EYE roast. I was very specific and they said they had. I went there to pick up my roast (they very graciously cut ahead of time), to find that it was a chuck roast. Can I do without chuck eye? Yes. Do I want you making that decision for me? No. So a month later I buy halibut. Thank you for having it. However, it was funky. I mean it smelled fowl, not like fish, it smelled rotten. I knew that it wasn't bad, it had just been kept in the cooler too long. I ate it, it didn't kill me, but I ate it as if I had no choice. It smelled fowl. You have to understand that just because it is Saint Cloud doesn't mean people don't know how things are supposed to be. Please throw out the food that is bad, and don't lie to people on the phone as if they don't really know what they are asking for. read more

Fresh Thyme has many great qualities. For those with food allergies or sensitivities their products are clearly marked and it's easy to know what you are buying. The produce looks fresh, store is clean, and there is a good variety for some food groups. The prices are expensive compared to other grocery stores in town, for the same exact products. They do have good sales in their ad each week, and I've found that's all I buy there. read more

The few times I've visited, the wait to pay for the products I want to purchase is insane. I shouldn't have to stand in line for 25 minutes to pay. On top of the long wait to pay, the food quality is nothing to write home about. Today was the fourth time I was in the store. The first two times they were out of several items that had been advertised on sale. On one of those trips I had to wait in line for at least ten minutes--all open checkouts had very lengthy lines. I estimate that FT wasted about eight hours of their total accumulative customers time by having them wait in lines during the time I was there. They should have opened up more of their checkout counters. On my third trip I walked in and saw the long lines again, so I walked back out immediately. Today, I gathered items to purchase and the lines were very long when I was ready to check out, so I placed my items on a counter and just left. By this time, FT should know their busy times and schedule staff accordingly. I won't be going back to FT for a long time, and hopefully they will have improved by then. read more

When I walked in I was pleasantly surprised, I liked the vibe, the products and the layout, everything was going great till I got to the checkout counter, whereupon, my Bff ,Jo tried to pay for her $13.05 purchase with a check. You see, she emigrated here legally, to marry the love of her life. Now we all know that the wheels of the government turn slowly. I have encountered more than my fare share of small mindedness, but never to this extent. The cashier called the front end manager to the till to get verification for the check, whereupon the manager exclaimed quite loudly, to my friend-"Its expired, your permit"-(the card they give you, letting you stay in the states till your paperwork is approved)... she said this 4 times very loudly. as if that is not bad enough, my friend explained that since the transition of President Obama, to Trump there has been some difficulties on the governments end with the paperwork and she had filed for an extension pending approval of her status. which was none of the managers business to start with. to which the manager responded "Well good luck with that you might as well just leave now"--- this was the manager- not the cashier who was shocked and appalled at the managers comment and apologized profusely after the manager left. Really people????? this is how we treat people that come here looking to build a life LEGALLY?? I am appalled at that managers behavior, yes the front end manager-- heavyset dark haired lady in dark slacks-- worked today tuesday November 28, 2017 in st cloud mn. Such crap!!! as we left the store a customer came to my friend in the parking lot and said"hmph, living off the government, go back to where you came from" simply because the front end manager was loud and and a bigot, this lady felt she could be mean too. Btw my friend is British. I am certain that neither the store manager"lady" nor the rude customer have an ounce of Native American blood in them which by all rights makes them an "immigrant" too, or the descendant of one. I am a Military Veteran, and today i saw a very nasty side to the people i gave up my personal freedom to protect and i am sure my veterans groups would also be appalled at the occurance, maybe they need a little training in manners...or ettiquette??? or maybe they need to revisit Kindergarten, my friend went home in tears, and called the DHS- and THEY were appalled at how she was treated. Staff is always friendly and helpful. I love the brand's fresh items, like the to-go lunches, soups, etc. The bulk section is impressive, as is the coffee beans variety and quality of the meat dept. It's about Thyme ;) I've been waiting for this place to open up since the original expected grand opening back in October 2016. We always buy local organic produce from the co-op, farmers markets and local farms since buying non-gmo foods and organically as much as possible is priority for us. Unfortunately it can get pretty expensive buying organic and non-gmo at a decent price and the selection in town was pretty limited until Fresh Thyme. It's wonderful to see decent pricing on a much larger selection of products than your chain grocery store. The employees are very knowledgeable, helpful and polite. Their selection is amazing with a vast array of fresh baked breads, gluten free items, great deli selection, handmade soaps and body care and even fresh made sandwiches and pizza while you shop! This has become my go to place for almost all our grocery shopping. All they need now is an all organic coffee shop and it'll become my one stop shop! (hint hint) read more

I'm extremely picky with the organic produce I choose because I care for special-needs animals with very delicate digestive systems. (I'm much less fanatical when it comes to my own food, which I know is ridiculous, but I really don't care.) I've tried shopping at several different grocery stores in St. Cloud after being disgusted with bug infestations and rotten food. Thankfully, my Grandparents told me about Fresh Thyme. This place has the best quality organic greens, and they're actually cheaper than they are in other local stores where the heads of lettuce are often smaller, extensively rotten, or covered in aphids, beetles, and various flies. (I know they can be washed off, but it's still gross to come across when you're preparing food!) I'm really pleased with the staff, as well. They're happy to help you find whatever you're looking for, instead of acting lazy or annoyed when a customer asks them to do their job. I won't shop anywhere else for produce now because the quality is better, the price is better, and the staff members' work ethic is better. Fresh Thyme is great! read more
