Here's the real deal about this place.
You know this market used to have great produce, but believe it or not, it's getting worse--and it's very, very expensive for what you're getting.
That said, I still like this market because there really isn't another choice in town. But you have to look closely, because a lot of the produce is past its prime. The organic section is especially frustrating. I don't necessarily think this is entirely the store's fault--there simply aren't enough buyers for organic produce in town, so the turnover is slow. That means you have to be extremely careful about what you're buying. You can literally end up paying $7 for an organic head of cabbage that is completely rotten.
And they'll still sell it to you.
Now, let's get to the reason I'm actually motivated to leave this review.
The Bluegrass salmon is absolutely disgusting. I'm talking genuinely nauseating. I took one bite and almost projectile-vomited.
The fish had an awful taste that reminded me of pond water. The color looked completely artificial, and I have no idea what they're doing with this salmon, but they're incorporating it into their pre-cooked little meals that sell for around $8. I bought one with couscous, and the salmon was so bad that I could barely stomach it.
If you're going to sell something like this, customers deserve to know exactly what they're buying. This salmon tasted nothing like what I would expect from salmon, and at around $10 a pound, it felt like a complete waste of money.
Bluegrass, you really need to take a hard look at the quality of this product. If the salmon is consistently this bad, why are you selling it to customers in the first place?
I'm all for giving a place another chance, but this was genuinely one of the worst salmon products I've ever tasted. I wasted my money and my time, and I'm extremely disappointed.
Photo says it's Atlantic Salmon. This is not Atlantic Salmon. This is disgusting bluegrass tank grown fake salmon. Trust me. They're selling this Bluegrass salmon upfront cooler as you walk in. It is disgusting.
You may wonder why they say why well how do you know I bought the entire slab fillet side of bluegrass salmon and it was so disgusting my cat wouldn't eat it. So the second I steamed my pre-cooked meal and took one bite. Oh my gosh it was so disgusting. It literally tasted like you boiled pond water in your kettle and drink it. You know it save yourself the nauseating experience I have experienced, and keep it to REAL Atlantic salmon, inspected by USDA. read more
