Alan, the Project Manager from Genesis was exceptional. He is knowledgeable, professional, and kind, and shows a genuine desire to help people. He came right at the appointed time and was thorough despite his busy schedule. He came to assess if there was too much moisture still in the ceiling drywall from water that had leaked into the suite below mine a week earlier and provide an estimate on the cost to do repairs. Alan double-checked and triple-checked using his various tools. He was very patient to answer all our questions to our satisfaction. I highly recommend Genesis and will use their services again.

The additional considerations required to do renovation work in a clinical space were managed smoothly and Genesis was able to fit the work required into our limited time constraints. We were able to navigate the city, infection prevention, and other contractor needs with ease because Genesis took on the brunt of the coordination efforts. The space was left looking even cleaner than it was prior to the renovation and we never had to worry about the work interfering with our patient care. Much appreciated, genesis!

They are a terrible project management company. Do not expect that they are the ones doing the work. They contract out a lot of their work. I was so frustrated dealing with their customer service and they charge 3 times more than other companies. Communication was horrible with this company. The project manager, Perry Rosen answers the phone quickly for new businesses but after that it would take over days to hear back from them. They would constantly provide excuses on when the job would start. But if you are looking for a conversation with no work done than Perry is the guy because he loves to talk and show off his expertise. We had water damage and my company hired them. They left the dehumidifier in the place for over a week and charged us for the entire duration that the dehumidifier was sitting on site which we don't need. We really needed 2 days. Then we wanted them to do repairs. It was excuses after excuses. Almost 1 month went by and no work was done. We got so fed up that we hired someone else. To have some fun, I followed up with them on when they can start and I finally heard back months later that they can start. I declined them and told them the work was already done. The project manager was not apologetic at all. He sounded like he had plenty of work and my job was nothing. I do not recommend using Paul Davis. When I got the other restoration company in to finish part of the work that Paul Davis started, they told me that they too are aware of Paul Davis and their practice. I then found out the reason why Paul Davis kept on pushing my work was because the other jobs they had on hand were with insurance companies. But I am glad I didn't hire Paul Davis because I later googled and found many complains about them on BBB and other websites. Not to mention many others have reviewed their workmanship being horrible. I am glad I didn't go with them or else I would be joining the numbers of consumers on BBB and other handyman review websites complaining about them. Also note, the project manager Perry Rosen enjoys talking about current and past projects working on to show off. I learnt about some of the other buildings that they were working on and the type of jobs that they were undergoing. I personally don't think that is correct due to client confidentiality. I just listen and yes I did report the incident to my boss regarding about the work that they were doing on our competitors and their past jobs. Not sure if that is their practice to talk about their current client jobs and issues. Or talk about how the owner at this X building insurance went up due to several floods and that they were hired several times and etc. If that is the way for you to show business knowledge at least not let me know where it is located and which building. But again, maybe Perry loves to talk. He talks too much.

They provided me an updated quote and wanted to charge me $1200 for the demolition and removal. They said they got the quote wrong and quoted me for linoleum when I told them it was for tile. I said okay, fine. I scheduled the work with them. On the day they were supposed to come, they told me they couldn't start the work because they needed to get my tiles tested for lead and wanted to charge me $500 for lead testing. So, I got it tested for $100+GST with another company. Then I scheduled them to come start the work and they wanted to charge an additional charge of $250 for a full clean. These guys are not trustworthy. So, I told them that I wasn't going to go with them anymore. They tried to remove the $250 final clean charge, but they already burned the bridges with me. I would not go with this company. There were so many red flags with them. They don't seem to operate in good faith and try to rip you off.

I asked them not to continue with their restoration after the drywallers completely botched the job - trimmed drywall around vents and outlets without removing the cover plates. I removed the ruined drywall myself only to find insulation was not installed behind even though I had the conversation about required insulation in front of the Servicemaster project manager. I personally finished the insulation, drywall, mud, tape, sand, paint and trim myself and I am still waiting to be compensated. It is a an intentional tactic to try to make you walk away so more of the project budget can be put into someone's pocket. They use the most unskilled trades and even the trades try to screw you. Subfloor was put in over concrete without insulation even though floor and insulation was removed by Servicemaster and the promise was to: "Put it back exactly the way it was". Beyond that subfloor was fastened with nails rather than screws likely because it is much quicker. Any installer knows not to use nails as they pop out and even on my first walk-through that is exactly what was happening. They just hope that most people will not notice or say anything. There is also a wall out of plumb which I did not notice until too late. Now the door jam is out by an inch and a half on one side. They come on so strong and polite in the beginning especially when they are doing the initial remediation but that is how they get the rest of the renovation business, receive the budget and try to pocket as much as possible.
