Absolutely horrific experience!!!!! Would never wish this upon anyone.... If you value yourself, do…read morenot come here. My mother has been a patient of Dr. Nicolucci for more than a year for sinus lift, extraction and implants placement procedures. He, as a doctor, had done an excellent job, and is in general a very nice and pleasant individual. Now I will tell you where the traumatic, horrific and unacceptable experience for a medical office started... both of his front desk ladies, Jill and Madelena, treat patients as if they are invading their personal homes. When you call the office, you never talk to a live person, you instead have to always leave a message and maybe in 3-4 days someone will call you back (high emphasis on the maybe.. had to call several times...). My mother had an appointment for 4 months after her implant placement, originally schedule for the 12 of February. Neither my sister or I were able to bring our mother to that appointment date so we emailed (since phones are never picked up) office staff 2 weeks prior to Feb. 12 asking nicely to reschedule it (it was supposed to be a check up appointment and shouldn't have taken more than 15 minutes). We got a reply that the doctor is very busy and the nearest availability for the appointment would be the 30th of March. For that date, the time of the appointment scheduled and given to us was 1:30. On the 23rd of March, the time and date of the appointment was confirmed via email sent from Dr. Nicolucci's office (stating appointment scheduled for March 30th, at 1:30pm). On the 30th, around 1:17pm, when we were driving to the office, around 5 minutes away, I received a phone call from secretary Jill yelling and accusing us of being late to our appointment, which she states was rescheduled earlier "the 20th of February for 1:15pm". Upon arrival to the office, we showed her a printed copy of the email FROM THEIR OFFICE confirming on the 23rd of March that the appointment was indeed for 1:30pm, March 30th. That absolutely insane lady, did not even look at what we were showing her. She started accusing us of still being late for the appointment, and yelled at us that the doctor would not see us since we were late.. (to put into context, the other person in the waiting room looked also horrified just listening to this lady yell). My mother got so stressed out with the situation that her blood pressure rose to extremely high levels, and she had to take medications to calm herself down. Unfortunately, at that moment, even Dr. Nicolucci did not intervene and instead stated that his front desk personnel "are always very professional". Understanding what type of people we were dealing with, we kept calm, kept a steady voice, to try and not aggravate the staff even more. We just wanted to get this experience over with, and our mother went to get her checkup done. It was reasonable to expect "professional secretary" Jill to apologize for her outrageous and unprofessional behaviour, yet no apologies were given. We feel very sorry that such a nice doctor had his reputation fully ruined by his awful staff. The only way I would see for anyone to get any procedures done at his office would be to have those ladies fired. In a medical facility, with patients who are stressed and about to undergo medical treatments, this is the last thing need, patients need to be respected no matter what. If you do go to this office for any dental procedures, be aware of the front desk staff, and brace yourself...

From my first telephone conversation with Jill confirming my referral, I was provided exemplary service, support and guidance. The treatment plan, including timelines, procedures and costs, was documented clearly and concisely by the team. Most importantly, the plan was adhered to without surprises. I remain grateful! I am certain Dr. Nicolucci is proud of and beholden to the team. With respect and gratitude, Edward (Ed) Formosa

This review has been a long-time coming and I want to be thorough so it will be lengthy. Grab a…read moresnack and settle in. I was a patient a Royal York Dental for over 7 years, maybe closer to 10, and I left because I finally had enough. I have a clear memory at my initial appointment of being told that if my insurance situation ever changed, to let them know, as they would do what they could to manage cost. At some point I went freelance and let them know I no longer had insurance. Unfortunately, by the time this happened the business had already changed ownership and my dental visits only seemed to get more expensive from there on out until I finally decided enough was enough. In recent years, every visit at Royal York Dental I was told - strongly - that I didn't take care of my teeth. I was told I didn't floss enough and as a result my gums were recessing and in the near future I would probably need a gum graft. A GUM GRAFT. I also should buy an expensive Sonicare toothbrush - which they just happen to sell there. I got so many units of scaling I could have opened a rock-climbing gym. Nothing was ever optional, everything was "necessary". Not to mention, my cleanings were always painful no matter how well I took care of my teeth (so. much. scaling). There was even a time between visits where I flossed every single day. I made it my mission. I went in and was told I need to floss more and I was headed towards a larger issue. They made me feel like I lost the dental genetic lottery no matter what I did. I started to ask around among my friends and I realized - none of them were *this* unhappy with their dentist visits. I was convinced I must have bad teeth but I'd give a new place a shot because the cost at RYD was just getting to be too much. WELL - I just had an incredibly thorough (and oddly enough, not painful) cleaning, exam and x-rays elsewhere and both the dentist and hygienist said my teeth were actually in great shape. My recessing gums? Turns out they aren't changing and in fact, they are what they would expect from someone who had braces. Nothing to worry about. Especially not with how well I take care of my teeth. HUH. They also charge the provincially recommended amounts for dental services. And the front desk staff were wonderful. I came home in shock. Do not go to Royal York Dental. After years of being lied to I feel obligated to share and warn others. Going to the dentist doesn't need to be expensive or worrisome. Lastly, if you're a current patient reading this and you feel like maybe there's some dental gaslighting going on - it's worth it to start over elsewhere.
