I've been dissatisfied with haircuts in the past, from this shop and others, but this time warrants a YELP review. I went in for just a "clean-up". My hair is natural, and I've been growing it out. Just wanted to clean up basically around the neckline and ears. Take care of a few strays on the top of head itself. Explained not a cut, just tidy it up. Please note, I'm not trying to get a cut for the price of a shape-up, I just want my hair on point, so the cost will be what it will be. Specifically talked about the "sideburns". I'm female - don't have heavy duty sideburns, but barbers usually clean them up and make them cute. Bottom line here, I am not just dissatisfied but I am PISSED!!! The whole perimeter of my hairline is "off". The front doesn't look natural, like he took it back to far. He cut so far down, the natural hairline - you can see where an area of my face is just to clean/smooth. And the sideburns.....what sideburns.......they're GONE!!!!! Where the sideburns would normally start to extend down, the hair is now pretty much even with the top of my ears, NOTHING on the side. When I told him "you cut the sideburns", he said something about a point. Heck, the only point I'll have is if I take an eyeliner and draw one in. Even the clean-up around my ears is crappy - to high, to much. I have to keep brushing down, pulling the hair down towards my ears. From the back, you can see one side is a sharper, straighter line than the other side and the whole view from the back is not lined up/ in sync, not to mention instead of just cleaning up the neckline, that too was cut to high. I could have done a crappy job like this for free myself, not pay $20 for it. And the $20 was because he "had to cut more". Well, he cut more and the cut itself is not great - I'm picking and patting trying to get it even. So to add insult to injury, after the cut, the barber doesn't give me a mirror, but proceeds to start using one of those black sponges on my hair. I had to interrupt him and ask him for a mirror so I could see the cut. I imagine he was going to try and sell me one of the sponges. I've been to this shop several times for cuts or shape-ups. I've had varying degrees of satisfaction, some great, some not so great, but this time was an ALL-TIME LOW!!!!! It's really unfortunate when you can't frequent businesses in your own area, but have to travel around the beltway, just for a decent haircut. read more
