Walking down High Street, you might have noticed the new cafe on the block, namely Fresh. Their white neon sign filled with white coffee cups is hard to pass by and this cafe is definitely not one to miss!
All the staff were very welcoming when we arrived which was nice on the rainy morning that we visited and friendly throughout the whole time we were there. We ordered two takeaway coffees - a flat white and a cappuccino, extra hot. Both lived up to expectations and it was the first time I didn't need to add sweetener to my coffee - bonus!
While the pastry cabinet looked a bit tired, what stood out was their macarons, with flavours such as mango, chocolate, lemon, blackcurrent and raspberry. They are not like the five star macarons you will find at Miann and Milse, but they are pretty good for cafe standard - we ordered one each of the mango and chocolate and both were sweet, had great texture and flavourful fillings.
If you are looking for something more substantial, Fresh also serves a range of burgers (the pork marinated in Chinese five spice is right up my alley), various pastries, and most surprising of all - Sulbing, a Korean dessert with shaved milk ice, fruit and toppings. Having never tried one before, now is my chance to do so!
Overall, Fresh is a great addition to High Street. The coffee is great, the service friendly and the food menu sounds exciting, plus they have free Wi-Fi - I will definitely be back! read more
