I had the great fortune of being connected with this company from a former neighbor and have used them exclusively for all of my HVAC needs for the last six or so years. When the time came this year to finally replace both units (upstairs and downstairs), Derek gave me the best price in town, replaced them both in an efficient manner, and did a great job. This is one the few companies I have full trust in as they know their job and will not try and sell you anything you do not need. Fresh Air Systems installed an AC system in a condo I purchased in San Antonio. My big complaint was that when Fresh Air's bank made an error when keying in my check for the initial service visit, I was charged $50 for a return check fee, even though I discovered through my bank that the error was on their bank's side when keying in the information with the wrong account number. After asking Fresh Air to investigate twice, they never phoned me back or refunded the fee. I purchased another home in San Antonio a couple of months later that required a new AC system; but I would never use this company again for service on the original unit, or for other real estate investments I make in the area. When FAS Fresh Air Systems came to install the first air handler 9/18/2019, they had asked me which unit needed replaced? I told them I am not 100% but I think it's the back one (unit A) but call Anna FAS head of office to check. I was down in the office when I heard a loud hiss as it just dumped 12-16 lbs of R410a refrigerant in my house setting off all smoke alarms, and forcing me to take my dogs outside and opening all windows. I called Anna and reported this, and she said she would have their supervisor take care of it (James?). I let them work unattended, gave them a box fan to suck cool air from the house and into the attic. They got (Unit A) patched back together, and preceded to work on unit B. They installed unit B and upon inspection, the whole middle of the unit, the back middle portion and where the primary drainage was leaking water into the secondary pan. They proceeded to fix this with black duct tape. I paid my invoice, and they left. I went back into the attic a little time later, and discovered trash thrown about the attic, the units that are up there are original with the house, and these parts were to an air handler. I explained to James I have cleaned up most of the trash, and James said he would have his crew come out and fix the air handler smell (unit A) and clean up the rest of the trash left. The individuals were Anthony and I do not know the name of the other individual. That night the house had a very musty smell, I had text James who works for Fresh Air systems and was told they could of knocked some dust loose and it would be taken care of tomorrow morning. The same crew arrived and told them to take all trash that they had left, I was apologized to and told they were "very sorry" and fixed the pipes that were leaking onto the plywood and were nice enough to replace the p-trap, they were nice enough to throw the excess piping and p trap behind the air handler. I called Anna and she put me in contact with Derek (owner), We had a conversation and he would like to come out and "look" at the unit that was not set up correctly and the unit that is now leaking from the plenum box. The second time FSA came out to install the second air handler (10/14/2019) they said they would fix the problems with the first unit. I asked them to please not leave trash in the attic this time, and was disrespected in my house the second time by the same person (installer)I was assured that the issues would be fixed and bottom line it's worse: one units secondary drain pan is not hooked up, both units are scratched all over the bottom. Wires and lines are spliced or not secured to anything. There is no regard for someones house or new items. Pros:************************************************** -Anna is very helpful -Derek is knowledgeable - seems to be for customer satisfaction but have not heard from him since the first time he came out. Thus does not care, to fix issues that arise. -James (former lead) was amazing and kept to customer satisfaction till he left. -They show up on time Cons:******************************************************************* - will leave Trash in attic - will scratch your new items up - not secure items properly -They will not call to get right information when needed -scratched stairs - wont properly support units Final verdict : DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING UNTIL YOU FULLY INSPECT - if you do the invoice is complete and nothing will be done about anything ***UPDATE*** 11/1/2019 - City of New Braunfels failed both air handlers as neither was up to code for installation. read more

Anna @ Fresh Air System really excellent customer service, even during major heatwave in the middle of a pandemic! I was assigned Fresh Air System through my home warranty company in 08/2020. Hiring process was straightforward, phone and email communication were excellent in spite of how exceptionally busy the company was during this peak heatwave period. Delivery and collection were fast, efficient and the high level of communication at both ends was fantastic - calling about an hour before, then about 5 minutes before arrival. I had a complete system installed both Air Handler and Heat Pump Condenser on 11/2020. Overall, one of the best customer service experiences I have had with any hire-based company. I don't usually write online reviews, but when a business is well run, does what it says it will do and employs really professional, helpful efficient, friendly people, I feel they deserve some public recognition. These guys are terrible. They came out twice to troubleshoot the same problem and didn't fix it and also made it worse. I was having problems with smaller 1.5 ton HVAC unit not producing heat or air. Fresh Air Systems came out and just talked a lot with little work. They ended up loading 3 pounds of coolant and said that would fix it. Of course I had to pay for that. A few weeks later I called them to come back. They sent two experienced technicians this time because I said i didnt want a trainee working on my system like the last time. This time they said I needed my compressor replaced it would cost me about $1,000 or more. They told me to call them when I was ready to go forward and they will come out. I ended up calling my current HVAC company who installed my systems. They troubleshooted the unit and said the problem was a thermal sensor gone bad and needed to be replaced. They also told me that Fresh Air Systems over charged my system with too much coolant and was causing a new problem. They drained the coolant and reinserted to the correct levels. Fresh Air Systems charged me another $300 to tell me I needed a new compressor and that was not even the case. I would recommend to everyone to go with a trusted company rather than this one to complete your HVAC service. read more

I have been a customer of Fresh Air Systems for two decades. I just bought a brand new air conditioner and furnace. It was in the nick of time because two days later Texas was hit with an arctic freeze. My family and I would have froze to death had it not been for Fresh Air. The system I bought from Fresh Air is phenomenal. Not only am I saving huge amounts of money on my electric bill, but I just cashed a $700 rebate check from CPS for saving the environment with my new air conditioning unit. I would not have known about the rebate if Fresh Air had not told me about it. We are so grateful to be customers of Fresh Air Systems. read more

After having been a loyal customer for several years and referring tens of thousands of dollars of business to this company, I can no longer recommend Fresh Air Systems to anyone. The company caused damage to my house during a routine maintenance call, made a few futile attempts at figuring out a solution to the problem, ignored my suggestions as to how to fix the problem, and then left me holding the bag. I had to call a water damage mitigation & restoration company out to cut away the part of my house that Fresh Air Systems caused damage to, had another HVAC company competently fix the drain line that Fresh Air Systems broke, and then had the restoration company back out to restore the exterior of my house to its pre-damaged condition. I sent the company a bill for the total cost of repairs, which I successfully negotiated down to only $651, thinking they would do the right thing and at least reimburse me for the repair of the damage they caused to my property. The company ignored their customer; without so much as a call saying they refute the request. This is the customer service equivalent of a slap in the face. It's sad that you can't even trust local businesses to do the right thing anymore, it's all about their bottom line at the end of the day. read more

I have dealt with a few AC companies before and they have been by far the cheapest and most honest. I had another AC company tell me that I needed a new system, I then decided to Get a second opinion from Fresh Air and they quickly fixed my issue.. this was about 3 years ago and my system is still going strong... Let me preface this by saying I fix computers, I'm not an HVAC guy, but I know a temporary fix when I see one. I have a home warranty through Home Warranty of America and made a claim concerning our AC that runs constantly, but never cools to temp. Fresh Air Systems was assigned to my claim. James came to my house today to evaluate the situation. He was polite, informative, and punctual (A little beyond punctual, he showed up 3.1 hours before the agreed upon appointment). He diagnosed my system as having a small leak in our condenser coil and was prepared to replace it. After he contacted Home Warranty of America the story changed. Apparently they did not want to spend the money to replace the condenser coil, and had James recharge the system with leak stop and R22 that was $50 dollars a pound, which HWoA only pays $10 a pound for recharge. I won't be spending any money renewing this "home warranty" with HWoA next year and I would advise you to do the same. Spend your $500 a year putting that money away realizing that you WILL need it for home expenses in the future. I can't say Fresh Air Systems is a bad company, but I can tell you they are dealing with people that do not have your best interest in mind. 3 stars because James was nice. read more

We have had Fresh Air out to the house twice on home warranty work for our AC. The second time was to get a second opinion on a service call from another vendor that said we had to replace our system. Derek did the check and found out that company made the wrong call. He fixed the AC problem (a capacitor need to be replaced) and went so far as to clean the coils on both units to ensure they were operating at peak performance. He saved us over $2000 dollars. It is refreshing to find a vendor that is honest and truly takes pride in his work. We now have one AC company that we will call when every we have a problem. I recommend you put Fresh Air on your list for AC repair. You will not be disappointed. read more

Fresh Air Systems in the most unethical company I've experienced in my home town of San Antonio. DO NOT USE FRESH AIR SYSTEMS..........This business was sent to my house to check my A/C out by my home warranty company. The technician told me our unit had a dirty filter and had not been maintained properly. I just moved into this house 30days ago and the house past inspection before we closed. His estimate was over $1100 to clean the coils. Luckily I called another reputable company to come out and give a second opinion and it turns out it only needed Freon and my unit is running fine. The pictures showed my unit was very clean and had been well maintain. I recommend that no one use Fresh Air Systems due to their lack of integrity and unprofessionalism. I've had an old system. Every time a vendor said no hope, Richard could fix at a reasonable price. I was so impressed with their honesty I had them bid a system overhaul. I got the best top system, air filtration, and UV per my request at the best price. One company was almost double for less efficient system. The employees are great. My system self tested a perfect score and I'm happy. Thanks Richard for saying you didn't mind our calls to fix our old system, but I was ready and the price was great! Not once did you tell me I had to get a new system, actually you said wait until it gave up the ghost. read more

Prior to our fan going out our ac was cooling fine then I called fresh air to come and fix the fan thinking it could be the motor that needed to be replaced.. Richard the tech guy said it was just the capacitor that had gone out so he replaced the capacitor which give or take is worth about 30 dollars. He billed 6 times that amount plus a service call fee. Then he said the unit would also need freon which they charge by the pound or we had to replace both outdoor/indoor units... .this did not make sense since the unit never had a problem cooling the recharge of freon was quoted at an additional 285 and he said he would need to get it into the attic and that we would need to remove the stairs to attic to fit equipment to recharge the unit...at this point I said no ...i paid for capacitor but our unit was still not working...I would not recommend this place at all....our ac unit ended up getting fixed by David and son heating and air...they provided a better service at a reasonable price...they recharged the unit with freon from the outside no need to go into attic read more
