The other day I was on a hunt for a lime and a jalapeno. Two little things, fairly simple. I stop in and, well, they had both, but essentially all of their veggies and fruit had turned or were at least a bit brown. Completely turned me off and I did not buy anything there. Also, both times I've been, the shelves are half empty. Maybe the store is too big? But it just looks..half done? It looked like this when I went last year and figured, "Okay, they just opened recently. Maybe it will take a little more time to stock up." But it looked identical the other day. Unfortunately with the produce looking as it did, I am now kind of turned off to going back there for any other items, either.

I called in the Jamaican beef patty smash burger, it was ready when I got there, and this thing is really good. Super fresh ingredients, well cooked, well seasoned, prepared... I didn't realize it was inside the Gulf initially but there are a ton of signs so easy to find. I walked up, and was immediately greeted by the guy working there, even though it was 4 pm on a weekday. I took a second to look at the menu and went for the spicy cluckin sandwich. In hindsight, I wish I also got the fries but next time. The person working was incredibly nice, asked me how I found the place, thanked me for stopping in, and let me know my order would be ready in 10 min. I looked through the other gas station items while waiting, and my order was ready in closer to 5-6 min, hot and fresh! The sandwich was incredible. I loved the flavored ranch, and they stayed true to the "spicy" part of the spicy cluckin with a generous number of jalapenos. The chicken itself was crisp and juicy and flavorful. Next time I have to go to FedEx, I will definitely be stopping here to try more things on the menu!

"Leave your cares behind come with us and find The pleasures…read moreof a journey to the center of the mind" (Ted Nugent and the Amboy Dukes) We confess that we love Italian delis and grocery stores. And we both agreed that the Whitneyville Food Center is as good an Italian deli and grocery store as we have ever visited. When you walk in, you're greeted by long aisles of fruits and vegetables, baked goods, grab and go showcases, prepared salads, deli meats and cheeses, steaks and pork and chicken and sausages, canned goods, pastas, breads and rolls, and lots of grocery items. We picked up 3/4 pound of ground veal ($7.69) for a Thanksgiving Bolognese, a huge 3.5 oz. coconut almond chocolate chip soft biscotti ($3.25), and two deli sandwiches. The sandwiches were on a hard roll and were priced at just $8 each for a pretty good sized sandwich. My Italian Combo had plenty of ham, pepperoni, salami, provolone, lettuce, tomato, and onion on a super sift fresh hard roll. I had half for lunch today and the other half went into the fridge for tomorrow. The customer service was fantastic. The gent in the butcher department was very personable and funny, and the guy who made our sandwiches was friendly and professional. Put everything together, and this was an easy Five Star experience.
