Our waiter was courteous from the start, recognizing my need for an English menu, and didn't rush us to order right away. The menu is pretty substantial with pastas, meat dishes, and pizzas all made fresh when you order. The portions are large and small enough that you're full when you're done. I loved my carbonara, one of my top pasta dish choices. It's a little out of the way for most tourists who choose to stay close to the middle of Berlin BUT we had just come from touring the Stasi Museum (hint hint) so this restaurant was the perfect find nearby!

We met up with a friend who has lived in Berlin for 12 years and she informed us that the hot cuisines right now were Italian, Indian, Vietnamese, and Japanese (but that the well known secret was all the Japanese places are run by Vietnamese so the food is not authentic). She also had friends from Italy who gave her a list of recommendations of the best Italian restaurants in Berlin and this was on their list. And man oh man were they not kidding. The food was amazing. First, it's a very, very tiny but quaint restaurant in what would've been once East Berlin. The staff and chefs are all from Italy and are extremely friendly. Like most places in Berlin, they refuse to give you free tap water, so you have to buy flat or sparkling mineral water. If you speak German sometimes you can get tap water, which is just perfectly fine, but they will tell you at most places it is awful and they won't give it to you. They did this here, too. Anyway, wasn't gonna fight about it. Back to the food. We had three entrees. We had a carbonara, and even if the picture looks slightly odd to you maybe, it was amazing and one of the best we've ever had in the world. My kid was in heaven. And they firmly state they don't make it with cream, as it's supposed to be made. Really killer! Also had the fettuccine con gamberi, which was also amazing. Was very happy with this authentic food, as well. Both these pasta dishes had truly decent sized portions and were reasonably priced. I got the lasagna, which was absolutely delicious. To die for. Only problem was my slice was like a baby portion. I could've eaten two of these and would've gotten something twice the size at any other restaurant I ever went to, so that was the only disappointment. Still, all the food was so good, I almost went back again the next night to eat and try something else. I would've had the whole menu if I was there a month. This is a MUST TRY for anyone in Berlin either living or visiting. Go!!!

The pasta is homemade, which is a bonus. Service was excellent. The hostess was so sweet and welcoming (great first impression of the restaurant). She brought us the thin crackers after we were seated - thank you for that! Our waitress was very nice and so amazing. She was very patient with us when we were deciding between wines. She brought out the split champagne and made sure our glasses were refilled in a timely manner. She was so sweet. I do love that the wine glass she was pouring had the word Mine engraved on it, a nice settle way to know you poured the right amount of wine. Now let's talk about the food. Thin crackers served with a light cream fluffy dip that has hints of blue cheese or Gorgonzola - good! Multigrain bread baked with a unique aged sourdough and served with salted butter from Brittany - you had me at Brittany. I'm a bit of a butter snob and had to get the bread because of the Brittany butter and I was not disappointed. Tortelli with burrata and truffle - delicious and I'm still thinking about this dish with the shaved truffles on top - chef, this dish was amazing! Spaghetti with tomato sauce - daughter finished the entire dish, but I was able to steal some :) Sea bass with asparagus and Amalfi Lemon Zabaione - delicious and I loved that they had squash along with the asparagus. Ravioli Cacio e Pope with braised veal (to go) - son devoured it before I could take a picture of it. Desserts: Meringue - delicious Chocolate gelato - yummy Thank you for the truffles with rosemary as it was a nice touch to end the evening. Overall, the service, food and ambiance were perfect. A cute restaurant made for a nice date night but so good you want to bring your entire family. The tables were nicely spaced out and not overly crowded. I can't wait to come back. Also, a nice touch from the restaurant was I got an email saying they hope we enjoyed our time with them. We most definitely enjoyed last night. Thank you for making it a memorable dinner. Until next time.

Homemade pasta was perfectly al dente with generous chunks of burrata throughout. The eggplant (aubergine) and tomatoes were cooked down with garlic, and the sauce was superb! - Ziti with stewed oxtail ragu: Pasta was also perfectly al dente! It was a great pairing with the rigatoni because this had a protein and was lighter in flavor. Overall: Wonderful Italian food in Berlin!
