Now, I can confirm that this venue is a DISGRACE to the beautiful KINGDOM OF SPAIN. Indeed, the few staff members in this venue are RUDE, VOLATILE, and seemingly incompetent. They cannot accurately record data, which is perhaps the most basic task of The Functionary. If someone submits a form, the least that can occur is that it is entered correctly into the computer system. But alas! Also, some of the public-facing staff are also fully unable to communicate. In Spanish or English. This is quite perturbing, given that their principal job competency is to communicate. Judging by the experiences of my Yelp colleagues, dear Humphrey and Sudeep, my experience is nothing new. Perhaps what is most impressive is that the staff of this establishment have managed to retain their jobs for at least six years. Seems like a low bar! Both Spain and Scotland deserve better. Two additional comments: (1) The website for this venue is out of date and poorly maintained. Sad! (2) The staff do not answer the phone, in English or Spanish. In fact, sometimes, when sufficient effort is mustered, the phone will be physically lifted from the receiver, only to be placed back into the receiver such that it is not answered. MAEC: if you are watching, you may wish to check in on this establishment. It is an oozing blemish on the face of Spain.

It is pretty, small, grassy and has trees and flowers. If you want to get from Lothian Road to Shandwick Place then I recommend you take a shortcut through Rutland Square and admire it. If you are looking for a foreign embassy, then chances are that it is in Rutland Square as there are many in here. Although the grassy area in the centre of Rutland Square is very pretty, it is private. But you can still stand at the fence and look at it.

It is a useful place for asking general logistical questions, even if just where to get more specific information on a visit or living in Edinburgh. Also helpful if one has general questions about residency and/or immigration that are not so specific that they might be better suited for an embassy. The building and statue out front of the main entrance are picture-worthy all on their own.
