Beautiful park! It's soooo green and well maintained. I see some people hung their hammocks on the trees. Great idea!! This is a great place to relax or go for a picnic. Lots of shade. There are not a lot of parking, luckily we were able to get a spot. The restroom is right next to the parking lot, didn't have a chance to check it out to see if it's clean but looked fine from the outside. The park is one of the stops that link to the long walk way along the river. It's a great trail, easy & flat with beautiful nature, calming environment. Highly recommend taking a walk here. We also walked by a decent size dog park. They split it into 2 areas for large dogs and small dogs. Lots of room for your dogs to run around and play with other dogs. Looked like they were pretty happy!

So pretty! We parked at 508 Riverview Dr. and walked to New Belgium Brewing Company and back. We walked up to the brewery, so from start to finish, it was just under 3 miles for us. Very nice and leisurely walk with other walkers and bikers, but it wasn't overly crowded at 11:45 am on Saturday, 5/18/24. It took us an hour. Definitely recommend! We suggest wearing sunscreen and bringing water because there's not very much shade.

The Aesthetic: On the day we went, it was a moody and misty gorgeous river, the best kind of day. We stopped here on a roadtrip from TYS to CLT, and it was the perfect stop in the middle of our journey. The Price: Wherever we were, it was free access! The Parking: Plenty of free parking right near the water. The Conclusion: Next time, I'm bringing a picnic and hanging out here longer, it is a beautiful river! I want to plan a full day here, it's a must see.

I don't have a dog but I went to this park to walk along the river. I did check out the dog park and all the dogs seemed to be having a great time. This park has two separate areas for small and large dogs which is nice. It also seemed to be very well maintained. The park surrounding the dog park is also really nice. There are a lot of trees and the grass is nice to sit out and have a picnic. There were also people who set up hammocks in the park. The hiking trail along the river is also really nice. Its an easy walk and would also be a good place for an easy bike ride. I recommend you checking out this park whether you have a dog or not. I would come back again.

We stopped in here real quick while you're in Asheville trying to hit a bunch of different parks while we were here because the weather was pretty nice compared to where we live in Kentucky so we stopped in here just for a minute and it was a dog park we have playgrounds or anything for my kids but we walk around and saw the dog so they like that

This is a nice little park to sit back and relax on a lazy day. Nice trails for walking, both paved and not so much paved. The views of the river and relaxing, and there are plenty of trees to hang out under in the shade for a picnic or just for getting down to Earth. There is a dog park here too, and although we didn't bring our dog, we watched the other dogs play for a bit.

this park is a few blocks from my home and it, along with the other connected Greenway parks, are a big reason I bought my house here. the park is now destroyed completely. the trees are gone, blown over by the flooding french broad. the whole area is covered by the debris of people's lives and businesses. sand covers everything like the ash after a nuke. I miss it so much and really hope we can bring it back.

Great park. I did a workout by the waters edge and enjoyed watching the water flow by. Lots of others were out running, biking, doing calisthenics, etc.

We were looking for a park near the water to walk and finally found this location. Overall it is a beautiful location with many trees overhead, and a great green color this spring day. There are picnic tables spread out, a dog park at the opposite end, and a small dock over the river bank to check out the water. The park was well attended the Sunday we were here. Parking is a little minimal for the amount of people that were here. The park could benefit with an update to include more tables, benches, and freshening up the restroom. But as a city park it is nice and has a decent walking trail you can follow from the park along the river to another park about 1/2 mile down.

Looking for a park to walk our dog child, we discovered French Broad River Park. This is a beautiful park that runs right along the river. It is also a dog park! We opted to not let the little one run around in the park because there was a lot of dirt/mud and we did not want to have bath time. In the end, a great place to jog, walk your dog or snap a few photos.

One hour at the dog park, three minutes in the car after we left, all were out cold.

Awesome and beautiful park. Walking trail, Dog Park and connected to a chain of parks. Fishing available on the river or pier.

Thé dog park is small, wood chipped, unappealing, and that's just what Cheddar managed to say that was repeatable.

Part of a greenway in making. On the river with fishing places, dog park, and a shelter.

Ask the Community - French Broad River Park

Did it get wiped out by the flood?

Sadly, yes. It was hit pretty hard. I would forget about visiting here until the city decides that it's worth restoring.

This place is an especially good option if you're tired of Carrier Park, but there is another walking path that leads back in that direction if you start to miss it.

Made it there on New Year's Day. Bright and early. Did get lost trying to follow GPS so map it as it reads on the website. Siri thinks she knows better and I ended up in the boonies without service. Backtracked and when I had cell service again, followed instructions and got there without a hitch. The staff, mainly in the Welcome Center was great. So friendly. Knowledgeable. Genuinely pleasant. Not only providing instructions on the exhibit but shared a few stories about the process. It was cold but the walk and sun, when it came out, helped me to not freeze. In fact, by the halfway point, I had removed my outer layer. I mentioned this because it wasn't all paved paths - eventually after you pass through the garden directly outside the Welcome Center - you wander onto the packed trail. Glad I got there early as by the time I left, the parking lot was filled up fast and cars were lining up at the entrance to the park. I didn't check out anything else at the Arboretum but judging from what I did see, it's a beautiful area and exhibit. If I happen to make a return visit, it'll definitely be when it's warmer weather.

It is a dog friendly place so I feel like it is a great place for locals to come with their pups. There was even a family taking advantage of the "golden hour" lighting for family photos. We sat for a bit on one of the many benches available along the trails to take in the mountain view. And a large area dedicated for families and children with natural things to climb on and through. They have children's nature programs available as well. I would definitely go back again! And they are part of the reciprocal program with other Gardens & Arboretums around the country!!

This little community center seems to have a lot to offer: - The playground is a lot of fun- both our kids, ages 4 & 7, loved it! A well-kept wooden playground with swings (3 regular & 1 baby swing), a seesaw, a tire swing, and a big plastic sea monster for climbing. - Short paved walking loop with some benches, picnic tables and grill, and 1 of those little exercise stops and a creek flowing by (great for kids to splash around in!) - Large grassy field - Basketball court (half court) - Community garden - Large picnic table area with covered pavilion - Leashed dogs allowed (please pick up after them - there are poop bags along the sidewalk) The community center appears to be closed right now and I haven't checked out the website yet but there's a board with some info by the playground. It seems like they offer yoga classes (Free maybe? Says "donations accepted"), there's an ad for reiki healing, and a whole calendar of events for children and adults. This center definitely seems to run on donations and volunteers. We were happy to contribute to the painted metal donation post by the playground. Peaceful, safe, beautiful park areas like this are hard to find these days. We're passing through, as we're just frequent vacationers to the area, but I hope the community keeps up this little local gem!
