French Blooms is a hidden little pick-your-own flowers spot between Vaughan and King City opened Fridays and Weekends. Their farm is held within Robintide Farms (they provide pick your own goods as well). French Blooms also participate in the Toronto Flower Market (check their website for next year's dates).
We went there as two couples (4 ppl) on an August Saturday morning and it was great! Wasn't crowded for the unlimited time at the flower farm and you can bring your own food/picnic, etc. to hang out. All the gear, buckets, amd containers (that you can fill) are provided, with tips on what is in season and how to pick/care for your flowers.
They also offer ready made bouquets and a monthly bouquet service, etc.
They have plenty of parking on clearly marked grass spots and we spent about 3 h there picking flowers and taking photos and just chilling.
The field admission + jar offer we went for was $30 pp, with the condition you pick more than 7 varieties (else there is a $5 charge). The jar is big (1 L), you can definitely fit a lot of flowers. They also offer a non-flower picking experience for $15 pp (you can upgrade after to having a jar too). Our group had two strategies: cram as many as possible (long stems so that you can really squeeze them in) OR make a nice cohesive bouquet on the spot.
We had another appointment in the afternoon and the flower lasted till we got home that night. In the end I was able to split two bouquet while my partner got 6 vases worth out of hers. With good care and water changes we got most of the blooms to last 2 weeks and still got a good amount of dried flowers/petals to boot.
With the early day August lighting, and with barely anyone in the field, we got really good phone and camera photos. Definitely recommending this to friends and we will likely be back next year for more flowers.
If you just wanna feel pretty in a field of flowers while unloading goss with friends... OR in my case, overhearing random people's goss, this is the spot. read more
