I strongly recommend not using Bank of America to do your home loan or using them for any of your…read moreother banking needs. My home loan was so mishandled from start to finish that it was hard to imagine anything else that could have gone wrong. I went with Bank of America (despite their lackluster reputation) because as my realtor always says she likes to use people who bring "added value to the table". Let me just say that the "added value" that was brought was not worth the hassle and frustration that I experienced during this entire process. I was told numerous times that I could close at any time but when it all came down to it, they were incorrect. They had failed to do their due diligence and things fell through the cracks at the last minute putting me in the horrible position of scrambling to find an alternate place to live and store my belongings while they cleaned up their mess. I was getting an FHA loan. In the beginning of this whole process, Bank of America never confirmed that the property I was looking to purchase was all clear with FHA and approved in the database. It turns out that in the FHA database the tract number doesn't match the name of the complex but rather simply lists the city. This was a problem for the underwriter of Bank of America. It was a problem that should have been resolved in the beginning of the loan process had someone bothered to look. Another property in the same complex sold in January of 2011 and it was FHA as well. Through some research on that property it was discovered that they too had issues with their loan but they managed to clear it up. What was so infuriating is that come to find out, it was done through Bank of America. This proves that the internal communication within Bank of America is extremely poor. When this name/tract issue came up in January with that sale, perhaps some communication should have happened to prevent any further issues with future sales in this complex. It sure would have been the intelligent way to go. By not taking steps to ensure this never happened to another client they have since gained a new client who can't wait to get out of Bank of America as quick as possible. I even took the time to go see the Bank of America team who was hard at work on my home loan. It appears they all leave early as no one was ever around when I stopped by. Through each mistake that was made, no apology was ever offered. Instead, I would receive emails making claims of how people were hard at work on the weekend trying to get my loan processed and pressure was being put on the people working on my loan to get it done as soon as possible. I was offered excuse after excuse as to each and every delay. They were moving their processing center from Aliso Viejo to Irvine, the underwriter went home early....on and on the excuses came. It only made matters worse. What happened next still seems unbelievable to me. An inappropriate action was taken. My loan processor went behind my back and contacted my apartment manager to see if he could buy me a few more days to stay even though I told him this wasn't an option. I had already discussed this with my apartment manager. This was a violation of my privacy. He had no right to do that. He was simply trying to buy himself more time so that Bank of America could fix the mess they themselves created. The home buying process is stressful enough on its own. What Bank of America put me through was unreal. I was treated so poorly and I do not wish this experience on anyone. Though he came with rave reviews, I was not fortunate enough to see these reviews proven. Therefore, I would not recommend Bradley Meyer at Bank of America for your home buying needs. Note: So many people were a part of this transaction that I do not have all their names. The only other names I have are the processor, Miguel Garcia and Frank Bassett the home loan manager. I would not recommend any of them.

Then, inexplicably, her account was closed (perhaps because she had a low balance?) I would appreciate the branch taking the responsibility and handling this matter appropriately. I have already initiated an investigation. Once the matter is fixed, I will gladly update this review.

It appears that, unbeknownst to Citibank's clientele, the bank has recently upgraded its software-based customer verification system, which now prevents individuals from accessing their accounts in person using a government-issued real ID. I do not utilize debit cards at all. After visiting the branch to withdraw funds from one of my accounts, I left with no money after enduring over two hours of frustration and anger. The four employees present--a staff member onboarding, another completing onboarding, a personal banker, and a manager--were unable to determine how to access my accounts using a government-issued ID. We were transferred from person to person, wasting valuable time. We were informed that we must possess a bank-issued debit card to access any account information, a requirement I find entirely unreasonable. If this debit card is now required to access your accounts, a letter to all Citibank customers should have been sent before the new software was implemented. Consequently, we consented to initiate the process of obtaining a temporary debit card. Unfortunately, the new system's timeout feature is extremely rapid, preventing us from entering a PIN. When the banker attempted to reset the password, we were advised to do so via the mobile application from home. The issue here is that this is a TEMPORARY debit card, and, according to the 1-800 representative I contacted, a customer cannot create a username, password, or reset a TEMPORARY card independently because the card has not yet been linked to an account. Despite this, within two minutes of chatting with the 1-800 Citibank representative, I was able to access a touchscreen-enabled system that, through my iPhone, allowed me to enter the card number, associate it with the correct account, and set my PIN--completing the process in two minutes rather than two hours. Why was the phone representative so knowledgeable, yet the five staff members at the branch were unable to assist in a similar way? Additionally, I attempted to cancel an appointment scheduled for tomorrow afternoon with a banker at the Aliso Viejo branch to resolve my issues and facilitate access to my account. I called the main Citibank number because the Aliso Viejo branch, even though it was within business hours, did not answer. The representative at the main number explained that they were unable to cancel the appointment directly, as the banker should have sent a confirmation email, which provides access to the appointment, should a customer need to change or cancel it. The 1-800 Citibank representative then advised us not to attend the appointment (we had no intention of going) because we had received a resolution at another Citibank branch farther from home. I strongly suspect that no appointment was ever scheduled. I have decided to cease conducting business at this branch. Today, I visited another branch, which, within 15 minutes, attended to my needs efficiently and courteously. I wish you good luck if you choose to visit this branch after reading this review.
