Super friendly staff and better prices than most stores in the area. The atmosphere and cleanliness of the property is high level.

A little historical background: Seaside Wine &…read moreSpirits was once called "Lighthouse Liquors" by a fine gentleman I met in a New Bedford Whaling Society Meeting. This man told me of a place owned by Town Liquors (near the wonderful university in town, UMass Dartmouth) that had similar products at a lower price. As a college student, I needed to find this mystical location. So, I started on my hunt. I asked residents around New Bedford of a Lighthouse Liquor store. They were confused and kept telling me it did not exist and this man was wrong. Between being called names and getting offered free heroin multiple times, I was exhausted. This hunt has not led far and I was making no progress. This is when a friend decided to eat at a new Chinese Food establishment called New Tapei. Upon arriving, I noticed a liquor store called 'Seaside Wine and Sprits'. Nothing out of the ordinary, regularly. However, I noticed a lighthouse emblem on the sign. Could it be? Could this be what the drunk whaling man told me? Could the prophecy be true? Is this what I've been looking for since 1922? It was. The whaling man was correct. Upon walking in, I asked the lady at the desk if she'd hold my coat while I shopped and she obliged. What service! I then began perusing the beer selection and gasped at the prices. $8 for 12 Millers? What a steal! What a deal! What a store! Of course, I exclaimed this out loud, startling the clerk. I reassured her that I did not intend any harm (with the exception of her supply of beer, of course). I asked for my coat back and moved into the freezer. Inside I found a nice supply of Genesee Light and even Milwakee's Best, a beer not commonly found in the Northeast region of the U.S. I emerged from the freezer with snow stuck to my beard, and beer in my hand. I placed a large box on the counter; a beautiful thirty count package of Genessee Light. The cashier complimented my selection and my chest hair and rung me up. The cashier said "$18" in a disinterested tone and I handed her my cash. I was excited to receive such a nectar from the gods in Rochester, NY. I walked out of that store with my loot, excited to share with friends. I will be back soon!

Terrible service here. Highly recommend South Coast instead they're great customer service!…read more We have been coming here for many years visiting on vacations to see my dad who has a home here for 20 years and never had an issue. My son was in this store and carried things for grandpa last summer with NO ISSUE. We travelled 3000 miles and arrived today and stopped in. We brought our kids in and the tasting guy was so nice! However the store manager (I'm assuming that's what he was as he was overdressed in a suit) followed my young daughters around eyeing them making them uncomfortable. At one point he told them to not touch anything and they told him they'd not touched anything! The man in the suit was also eyeing another customer across the store and after staring him down aggressively asked him what he needed as well. Then he approached me and I said no we've been many times but thank you nicely. I had our sons grab a couple heavy items and put them in my cart. We grabbed a couple other smaller things. I walked up and another man didn't even greet me as I began loading the cart. He abruptly said I need your ID! I finished unloading and he repeated himself and I said yes I heard you I will get it. They then demanded everyone's ID's. I said these are our children. Do they need to step outside or something? The manager became very hostile and rude. He said he would not sell to us because my son had one of the heavy cases in the cart and he did not have his ID with him. I told the manager I had triple arm surgery and my husband also cannot lift heavy things )he had carpel tunnel surgery recently) so we had asked him to pick it up for us. I said if that was an issue, do we need to leave and then come back or what to do? The manager refused to sell to us and I said at what point are we able to buy? Is this like an indefinite thing or something? He pretty much said not at all. A lot of our friends are law-enforcement at home in our state and I said well if I was to ask the police or if I were to contact the Massachusetts liquor commission, what would they tell me? Then he finally admitted I could come back the next day at that point which obviously we will not be doing. We went to South Coast and had no issue there at all or hassling. I do not usually leave poor reviews but this entire experience was embarrassing and I'd like to note it for future customers. I have a serving license at home and this was over the top and power trip feeling. For reference my husband and I are almost 50 it was very evident we were of age.
