I have been a Freemans mail order customer for many years and have always been very happy with the service.
They still send out catalogues, but it's often easier to search for things online on their website. They sell clothing, and also all kinds of household goods like furniture, kitchenware, bedding, curtains, toys and games, power tools, jewellery and so on.
They offer free delivery and free returns, and you can open a payment account and spread your payments.
You can place orders over the telephone, but I find whenever I ring these days they try to sell me something else as well, so I tend to order online now. The good thing about ordering online is that it tells you straight away if the item you want is in stock, or if there's a delay (and if so, how long that delay with be). Another good thing about the website is that you can enlarge the photos on screen so if you want to look at clothing, for example, you can enlarge a section with sequins or embroidery and get a really close look at it, and at the type of fabric. This kind of detail just isn't available in the printed catalogue.
Another good thing is, once you are on the mailing list, they send regular emails. I know this might sound like a bad thing, but you don't have to read them if you don't want to! They send out emails to advise you of sales and special offers, so you can log straight onto the website and check out the bargains. Also, and this is my favourite feature, but I haven't noticed it recently - I hope they haven't stopped doing this. They used to send out emails in the run up to things like Mothers' Day, giving you ideas for gifts. It actually turned out really useful for me, and I bought my Mum a lovely sparkly brooch as a result of one of those emails. read more
