Kevin makes the class very interactive, so it definitely isn't boring. Kevin also has a Police/Military background so he provides you with really useful information on how to handle yourself in different scenario's. The classroom portion is done at his home and I felt comfortable. The practical portion is done behind his farm and you will go through about 100 rounds while utilizing different shooting techniques. I liked how he had us do more then just the normal stand and shoot at a target. Kevin had us doing shooting while walking and shooting from the side of an object that you use for cover. This class is not intimidating like some other CPL courses as Kevin is a very easygoing person. It's easy to miss this place. Just look for the American Flag on the red barn. Bring the cash for the course, eye protection, ear protection, a firearm and about 100 rounds of ammo. In the Summer, Kevin said he will be doing advanced shooting courses for those that are interested. I highly recommend this course to those seeking to obtain their Michigan CPL.

Each time, the shoothouse is rearranged to accommodate realistic, every day scenarios for students to complete with role players. This is a force-on-force class using UTM munitions. Today we completed 9 scenarios, anything from getting out of your car, going into a store, or just getting home from work. Each scenario encompassed shoot/no shoot decisions with multiple roleplayers involved. This class takes you out of the "square range" shooting paper targets. UTMs feel like getting stung by a wasp too, so even with multiple layers of clothing, it stings every time you get shot. If an armed citizen truly wants to test their knowledge, situational awareness, and shooting ability, please consider taking force-on-force training at the Muncie Threat Assessment Center (MTAC) or at any similar facility near you. I've trained with Defensive and Tactical Applications (DTA) at MTAC for 3 years. I train with multiple other training companies too. Pine Lake Water Park was the perfect little getaway. Located 2 hours from Indy, it was a nice little drive in the summer sun listening to Rilo Kiley (my daily album generator gave me a Public Enemy album, so I chose to listen to that later in my headphones! Lol). Directions were easy to follow and even though Pine Lake is located down a small road, it was easy to find. The thing I loved most about Pine Lake was the size. It is a nice, small to medium size area. It is easy to see almost the entire park from the beach area. I have an older teenager and two younger children. It was easy to watch my teen go off and do some activities while also being closer to my girls. The activities were fun and included multiple types of water slides, a zip line, a spring board and platform jumps, a water obstacle course for younger kids and a few unique apparatuses like a teeter totter that floated in the water. There was enough to do to keep my kids entertained for hours. They don't allow alcohol or outside food. But the parking is just outside the gate and you can leave and return easily with your wristband. They have several picnic tables around the parking area for public use. We packed a cooler and a bag for dry food and took a little lunch break in the shade. I will agree with another reviewer that mentioned how murky the water is. Due to a lot of people being in the water plus all of the movement, the water isn't clear, at all. That really only makes a slight safety concern. There are life guards everywhere, and I never felt that anything was unsafe. However, don't just leave it up to the staff for safety. I still watched my kids like a hawk. Just a little tip for the wary parent. Pine Lake was affordable, fun and a great daytrip adventure. My entire family had a wonderful time, and we plan to visit, again, next summer. I pray the sunshine warms your soul and clears your head and your heart.

There is a huge body of water in which to swim, water slides, a water obstacle course, a diving area, and an area away from the lake with a splash pad for little kids. It's the kind of place you want to stay and play all day. That being said, this is a lake (man-made pond?) and not a pool. The ground is sandy and the water is murky and you cannot see a couple of feet below the surface. So if you have young children or children who are not confident swimmers, you should keep a constant watch on them at all times. There were a couple of times when my child, who is a confident swimmer, went underwater and just disappeared. You literally cannot see anything under the water. For a few heart-stopping seconds, I was wondering where he went and luckily he surfaced shortly after. But there are parts of the lake that are deep and two times I saw lifeguards race into the water to dive after people who went into the water and didn't come up as fast as they'd like. This happened in the diving area, which goes down very deep. So, just be aware. This isn't a hands-off place for parents by any means. My children really liked jumping off the deck into the lake, and also the water slides. My youngest enjoyed the splash pad, which has a bucket that fills up and dumps water on you every so often. One thing to note is that you're not supposed to bring coolers into the park. However, you can bring your own food (I guess as long as it's not in a cooler), or purchase food at the snack bar that opens around lunch time. If you want, though, you can leave and visit your vehicle and have lunch in the parking lot. I saw lots of people doing that, and there are a few picnic benches scattered about. Be sure to bring a blanket or something to sit on! There are lots of grassy areas where people sit and put their stuff. We also brought a beach umbrella, which was a good idea because the sun was beating down and there wasn't any shade!

I took my young kids and they had a blast. The holes aren't very difficult so we got through all 18 in about 15-20 minutes. There was a lot of room between us and the people in front of and behind. Everyone patiently waited their turn for the next hole and we flowed nicely. It looked like there were 2 sides where you could go on, so there were 2 18-hole courses so there would be space for a lot of people. The arcade is like a lower budget Chuck-E-Cheese. Small but seemed like the kids playing the games were having fun. Overall good experience. I took off 1 star because they only served hot dogs with chips and the hot dogs take 15 minutes to cook. Never heard of that! Other than that, it's a cute place for a date or if you want an inexpensive place to take your kids. Kids under 3 are FREE and kids 4-7 are $3, which is excellent. I don't think the go-kart area was open, as there was no one over in that area.

Wow, where do I start? How about price gouging! The $300 I spent on a Sig Sauer RDS I just found online at a half dozen other stores such as CTD, Optics Planet, Etc for literally HALF what I paid ($149.99). Now let's talk about their biggest problem, although prices here are ridiculously high & only compete with Gander Mtn, the highest priced Gun Shop in the Tri-State Area. The C.S. is HORRIBLE. The salesman was not only demeaning, but lashed out at my 8yr old child for not "standing by my side at all times while not touching anything, because they do not allow ANY children, even accompanied & well-behaved, to touch ANYTHING". He made this point once very sternly when I was trying to explain to my son what I was looking at (my son just took a shooters safety course by the way and was interested in some things there), then when he looked like he was handing my son an accessory (NOT EVEN A GUN!) my Son did what anyone would & reached for it. Then the salesman, a large African American Fellow, lashed out at my son with in a loud, rude & demeaning voice & said "NO!", "We don't allow children to handle anything in the store!". So he can't handle a holster? A Sling? How about a Youth Rifle like the "Davy Crickett" or a youth BB Gun, all designed for a younger crowd and not for adults. Clearly this is the case if you've ever held a "Crickett" rifle as they're a small .22LR that you can't even shoulder if you're much taller than 4' 6", so who is that designed for & why wouldn't you want them to handle it when they're supervised with a parent? His behaviour that evening fell nothing short of abhorrent in his clear dislike of children, but did it need to rise to the point of making an 8yr old feel like he's lower than dirt and deserves no attention, respect or even a little kindness? Had another longtime CSR "Dean" been there to Sight-In this RDS I overpaid by double on, I would've left on the spot after the way my son was treated, but then I can also say I'll never be back, I'll tell every member of the shooting club I'm a member of that they're the worst place in town to buy anything because if you can't offer good customer service AND your prices are HIGHER BY FAR than the MSRP prices and than ANY OTHER SHOP IN TOWN, what do you have to offer me or any other reasonable person? What's really sad, I'm a HUGE collector spending an average of between $26-$40k/yr on guns, ammo & accessories and they WILL NEVER SEE ANOTHER DIME OF MY MONEY. WORST C.S. & PRICES AROUND ARE JUST THE BEGINNING OF YOUR NIGHTMARE IF YOU SHOP HERE, ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE A CHILD WHO IS ALSO INTO THIS HOBBY. Their treatment of children though was disgusting and outrageous so I hope all those considering "Freedom Firearms" will realize this place has about as much "freedom" as Cuba when it comes to responsible young adults like my son, and I am absolutely insulted when I think about how badly he was treated. When you're in your 40's or 50's (the African American CSR now) and you insult, demean & lash out with a raised voice to a child, bringing him to tears and making him feel terrible, does it make you feel better? The only think I can think of that's worse is that this man may be an officer at the FWPD, which means it's time for some sensitivity & PR Trainng. I'll NEVER, EVER come back and I don't recommend ANYONE ever shop here for so much as a shell casing! These guys really do run the worst shop in town for their price gouging, treatment of customers and in particular young adults, and complete lack of manners. No greeting such as "hi how are you today?", "how can I help you sir?", etc. Not a kind word during my whole hour there, and to my son, well, I apologize for putting you through that ordeal and for the record, MOST gun stores ARE NOT in the business of employing rude, horribly-behaved employees so don't let this shop set the bar or get you down. Just goes to show that people can make or break a business, but the prices sealed the deal... NEVER, EVER AGAIN WILL WE BE BACK & THINK OF ALL THE FOLKS I'LL BE SHARING THIS STORY WITH. TRULY IT IS UNFORTUNATE THAT PEOPLE WILL TREAT YOUNG ADULTS THIS WAY & THAT PRICING LIKE THIS EVEN EXISTS. HOW CAN YOU JUSTIFY BEING ABOVE MSRP ON SO MANY ITEMS??? This shop is a disgrace to respectful & decent gun stores that still exist in Fort Wayne. ALTERNATIVELY, I'm a firm believer that the post that's highlighted has to be a shill since the guy's experience is so far from what so many others are saying. You can't buy your way our of everything, even bad service & prices. Sorry Mr. Busse (Keith Busse, the owner & ex CEO Of a major steel co. is now the owner of this store, but when I called to try & resolve this I was told, "Sorry, he only comes in every 2 or 3 months so you'll have to try back). Freedom Firearms is hands down the best gun store and range I have ever had the pleasure of visiting. From the moment I walked through the door, I was greeted with friendly and knowledgeable staff who were more than happy to answer any questions I had about the wide variety of firearms on display. The store itself was clean, well-organized and had an impressive selection of guns, ammunition and accessories. I was particularly impressed with the variety of handguns, rifles and shotguns available, as well as the wide range of ammunition options. They even had a small selection of antique firearms, which I found to be quite unique and interesting. The staff at Freedom Firearms were incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. They took the time to explain the different features of the firearms I was interested in and even allowed me to handle them to get a better feel for them. They also provided me with some great tips on how to properly care for and maintain my firearms. The range at Freedom Firearms was also top-notch. It was clean, well-maintained and had a variety of target options to choose from. The staff were also on hand to provide me with guidance on how to properly use the range and ensure that I had a safe and enjoyable experience. Overall, I had an incredible experience at Freedom Firearms and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a high-quality gun store and range. As well as the ability to take a class to help you get aquatinted with your new pistol, for only $25! (Which was very informative. DEF 5 stars for the class alone!!) Range is open to the public, so if you did not purchase your firearm from them, you can still go shoot and have a great time. Classes are one at a time. Sign-up when you are ready. They are not pushy, and their business model does not keep you looped in endlessly. Which I really appreciate! After spending $3000-$4000 here in about 6-7 months time, you inform me I can't shoot my AR at your facility unless I first buy a $350 a year membership? Greedy. It's your right to force this on customers, but it is my right to now spend my money elsewhere and to let others know about this crazy policy that literally puts a barrier to growth on your own business. Long story short, all guns were sold in probably 30 days and for far more than they were originally appraised for. In addition, Todd kept both Rachael and me informed as to how things were going. They did what they said they would--top notch professionalism and communication. Precision Arms is my new favorite gun store!
