Alfredo and his staff were wonderful and extremely accommodating. This place is cash only. The customers are local and the vibe is one of genuine authenticity and compassion for what they do. I wanted to satisfy my craving for seafood on my last night in PV, so I opted for this place after doing a google search. We had a 10min wait but did not have reservations. We were seated and it was an open area. We were provided with a purse rack/coat rack to put our purses on, which I though this was such a kind gesture. Alfredo was extremely helpful and went above and beyond to ensure our needs were met, while ordering off the menu as first time visitors. The drinks were nice and strong and the food was great. We unfortunately did not see the cash only sign, but Alfredo let us walk to a nearby ATM and we of course paid our bill. I was pleased dining here on my last night in PV! The only negative is this place closes at 7pm, so get there for an early dinner!

Mahi mahi, good sides were as plain as they look.

Fredy's has a cool atmosphere, with a nice indoor venue with plenty of tables, the front is open and the inside decorations are charming in a beach fish shop way, with lots of old beachside photos and colorful chairs and tables. The menu is pretty much all seafood with a good mix of raw and cooked. The cocktail menu has a good amount to offer as well. That being said, the prices are expensive compared to other mariscos restaurants that are just as good, and just as charming. We've been there a couple of times and have tried 3 drinks, all good but $9 usd and up, not strong at all, but definitely fresh and original. Food wise we have tried their tuna tartare, which was tasty, the chips and guacamole, pretty good (chips not hot but made sometime that day, guacamole was yummy), and shrimp tacos aka "gobernador" tacos, the ajillo mahi mahi (fresh fish of the day). The tacos are okay, shrimp very very tiny, but the little condiments they served with were good, the mahi mahi was fresh but again just good, the veggies and rice it came with were just okay (roughly $17 usd). The service initially is good, however they are very clear the kitchen closes at 7, no problem as we arrive at 520, and order right away. Well, come 645 and it's like a rush around the whole restaurant to grab every plate, piece of silverware or glass they can find, even if you're still using it! Then another 5 minutes go by and at this point you basically have to guard whatever you want to finish because several servers will keep trying to take away plates that still have food on them, that people are still eating. At this point even the salsas & ketchups are removed from the table (all before 7) and it's clear they want us to leave, basically standing nearby watching us. We got the picture and asked for the check, one time it was around $70 usd the next $60 usd, and felt pretty bummed to be rushed out of there before they even closed, it was just rude. Having worked in restaurants for years, the "kitchen closing" does not mean: evacuate the restaurant at 7. What would have been a way better night and experience was definitely weird because of the rush to leave before 7 on a Thursday night. Step up the service and kindness to your guests Fredy's!

Got to be the best upscale neighborhood place I found in PV! Alfonso owner greats gringos with enthusiasm and charm. Showed him some photos from others. He said no longer on the menu. Tuna and avocado with a perfect balance of balsamic soy reduction was perfect to my Asian sashimi taste. Not overly powering but to highlight the tuna. Cast iron grilled octopus was so tender with a great yin vs yang crisp on the tentacles matched with Ajilo chili butter. Omg! Desert was a soft shell taco perfect crunch punched with crab flavor popping into my happy mouth!

My favorite was the Classic Tuna Montadito, lightly marinated chunks of fresh tuna served over a bed of avocado--so fresh and flavorful! The Green Aguachile was made of raw shrimp marinated in a mildly spicy green sauce; and the Crab Enchiladas were four rolled tortillas stuffed with shredded crab meat and topped with a rich, creamy chipotle cream sauce and avocado slices. For our entrees, the Romantica Fillet was a rare seared tuna filet served over avocado salad and sweet potato puree; the Los Muertos Fillet was mahi mahi topped with shrimp in a creamy red sauce, served with rice and sautéed vegetables; and the Olas Altas Fillet was mahi mahi topped with a mushroom sautee. Each of these entrees was fresh, delicious, and came at reasonable prices. On top of the good food, the service was super friendly and attentive as well!

However, as me and my friends (it was 4 of us) were leaving the restaurant, our waiter chased us down claiming we did not tip enough. Here's a note from my friend detailing more of what happened: "It was 150 pesos which is a little more than 10% of the total. In Mexico, 10% is completely customary, especially for tourist. Locals will give even less and typically leave only about 50 pesos. I don't know if he was expecting for us to give him more just because we're used to giving 15 or even 20% at a time but I always do at least 10. If it's one of the really nice restaurants where they take care of absolutely everything then I do get more than that but this was just a normal place And I did fold the bills because I clipped it into the checkbook, so there is a chance he thought it was just 50. But to flip out and say it's not enough that he deserves more or just to take it away is crazy in my opinion." We may return, but this really turned a perfect visit into a not so great one in the end. The 3/5 is for food and service, would've been 5/5 had we not been stopped as we were leaving for not "tipping enough".

We came here as a party of 4 for my friend's 40th birthday around 6:30 and caught the most amazing sunset. They had a professional photographer take a complimentary photo for us. The service was impeccable, so welcoming and sweet! All of our dishes were so good. We ordered: octopus, seafood croquette, egg potato, potatoes brava, asparagus, white sangria. The octopus was so tender (maybe the best octopus dish that I've had) and the seafood croquette just melts in your mouth. There was not a dish that I did not like. For dessert we got the orange flan which was so yummy and delightful. and the chocolate lava cake. The sunset view was gorgeous! And the price was very reasonable - we got drinks, dinner and dessert, and the total came out to be $44 per person. I hope to be back!

The food is always excellent -- classic tapas done right and some of the best paella we've had in Puerto Vallarta. We came in for an early dinner around 5:30pm in January specifically to catch the sunset, and it was absolutely worth it. By the time we left, the restaurant was completely full -- that should tell you everything. The views are stunning and add so much to the overall experience. The staff is warm, attentive, and genuinely sweet. Don't skip the complimentary photo session -- it's a fun touch and they make it effortless and relaxed. This is one of those places we always return to when we're in Puerto Vallarta. Great food, beautiful views, consistent quality, and a welcoming atmosphere every single time. Highly recommend.

The entire front portion of the restaurant sits directly in the sand, so that's where we chose to have breakfast--under the iconic palapa roof, feet in the sand, overlooking the ocean. From our table you can watch the fishing boats and excursion boats heading out for the day, which gives the whole experience a relaxed, resort-like rhythm without feeling touristy or rushed. Service was excellent from the start--attentive, warm, and genuinely welcoming. They brought out a selection of pastries you can add if you want, like banana bread and cinnamon rolls, which felt like a thoughtful touch rather than an upsell. The coffee was very good, with plenty of options ranging from cappuccinos and café lattes to classic American coffee, all well prepared. For food, I ordered the scrambled eggs with Mexican chorizo, refried beans, and hash browns. It came with a basket of warm corn tortillas and several house salsas, letting you customize each bite. Everything was flavorful, comforting, and clearly made with care. We also ordered the shrimp eggs Benedict with spinach, which was beautifully done--rich, balanced, and fresh, with the shrimp cooked just right. One thing that really stands out is the ambiance. Being right on the beach, hearing the waves, feeling the breeze, and being encouraged (without being told) to slow down and take your time makes the meal feel like part of the vacation itself, not just fuel for the day. They also offer freshly squeezed juices, which pair perfectly with breakfast by the ocean. The menu is extensive, almost overwhelming in a good way--there are so many appealing options that it's genuinely hard to decide. That said, what we ordered was absolutely delicious and satisfying, and it left us wanting to come back and try more. Overall, La Palapa delivers on every level: location, atmosphere, food, and service. It's the kind of place where breakfast turns into a memory, not just a meal.
