Nurses were so helpful and had incredible bedside manner. The front desk people are almost rude. You're dealing with injured people, the least you could do is be nice to them? The actual doctor (Snyder) left much to be desired. He helped me clarify some things about my situation, but became very short with me towards the end of our time and seemed like he didn't want to help me get my X-rays on a disc (super important because I need to go to another provider closer to home), didn't want to give me a sling and it seemed like I had to argue with him to get what I wanted to be comfortable for the long drive I had home. At a certain point he's like "well I don't know where anyone is so you'll just have to hang out back here until everyone who can do all these things for you gets back from lunch". I guess giving me a sling is below doctor duties. But if everyone else is in lunch you can't just get it for me? So rude Weird interaction. This guy acted like I didn't have an appointment set up for a week and a half that I waited for. Don't go to doctors who don't respect your time and don't respect you coming on time for your appt. I certainly wouldn't get operated on with providers here after that interaction. Who knows, they might leave you half fixed because their lunch is getting cold lmao. I'm a firefighter and have done a 32 hour shift without a lunch. Take notes.

Her dad, who I have referred to as my baby daddy here on yelp, was laying on the floor after a long day at work out there flipping meat on the BBQ at Fircrest. He's really old, so he's a whiner. He creaks and cracks with every movement. So needless to say when our very large three-year-old did the cannon ball on his chest he was hurt. And many woman out there, Y'all know what I'm talking about. Men are winners when they are sick or hurt. ***That being said I just spent 2 1/2 hours on the phone no exaggeration trying to find a primary care doctor. He went to the ER a couple weeks ago but he is still walking around holding his abdomen like a wuss. Big surprise. No joke I spent 2 1/2 hours on this phone trying to find a primary care doctor. And yes we have insurance - we have excellent insurance. I had conversations with some of the rudest effing people I've ever talked to in my life. And I know I can be abrasive but i usually try and keep it light. Everybody hates their job these days I guess. Rude after another rude. All right I'm trying not to swear so I hope you get my point. ***I was just about to give up. When suddenly this ANGEL answered the phone. I shit you not she was a freaking angel. Not only did I not have to repeat myself 20 times. I gave her the same two minute run down I gave every other person of the details. Not only did I not have to repeat myself, which I despise doing, she did not ask me to re-spell our last name seven times. I couldn't believe how smart she was I offered her a job. She of course just laughed at me. And I was I ok with that. ***She booked my baby daddy an appointment for a week and a half out and she put us on the cancellation list. I was willing to let my baby daddy suffer for the next week and a half to get a decent doctor. Within 10 minutes of hanging up with this young lady - I was literally in the middle of writing this review. She calls me back to tell me that there's an opening for tomorrow at 10. COULD IT GET ANY BETTER!! ***Megan. If every business had one of you. The world would be a better place. I hope your doctor appreciates you. If it wasn't for you I would probably have no hair because I would be pulling it all out by now. Thank you. I was trawling on business in the Bay Area when my left (cadaver) knee transplant failed. I went to…read morethe Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital and confirmed the joint was shot. I spoke with an excellent ER physician and learned of a very progressive surgeon doing some exciting things with knee replacements. The fact that I am only 46 creates many challenges for getting a total knee replacement that will have to last the rest of my life. I started doing research and calling friends who were surgeons in orthopedics and received resounding endorsements for Dr. Nathan Ehmer who happened to be working in the Santa Rosa area. The ER doctor called Dr. Ehmer early on a Saturday morning about my case and Dr. Ehmer's assistant Jasmine (who is also terrific) moved his schedule around so they could see me ASAP Monday morning. Dr. Ehmer was very kind and worked through my history and it was quickly decided the joint was toast and it needed to be replaced. I was facing down a critical time line at work and literally only had an immediate 6 week window I could be working from the couch. Dr. Ehmer offered me two options, one was he was willing to move his schedule around and do a traditional knee replacement in 3 days or the other was an exciting (somewhat) new procedure where a CT Scan is Used to build a plastic model of the knee and a computer generates cutting guides which lock onto the old joint and help the surgeon with alignment, cutting, placement and time under for the patient. This new procedure seemed obviously the best option and I checked with several friends who are Ortho Surgeons and they all said it was the way to go so wait the extra time if practical. I explained my dilemma to Dr Ehmer and he offered me a solution. He booked me for his next possible opening then personally telephoned the company that made the cutting blocks and asked them if they could rush the cutting guides for my case. He called me the next day and said they could get me the blocks in about two weeks so we decided to wait. In less than 2 weeks I got a call from Dr. Ehmer's office that the blocks were in and I was scheduled for surgery in 2 days. I am now 4 days post-op and feeling great. I need to get my right knee done this year as it is just as bad as my old left knee and I am going to fly back to Santa Rosa, likely from from Africa, to have Dr. Ehmer do the procedure. I can't express how pleased I am with Dr. Ehmer and his team and I would encourage anyone needing an Ortho surgeon to find your way to Santa Rosa and see Dr. Ehmer. The travel is irrelevant when you are talking about removing a joint from your body and replacing it with pieces of metal and expecting them to last the rest of your life.

I am so sad to have to write this review. I LOVE Dr. Affleck. I have been a patient of his for a…read morewhile, because there are a lot of good things about this place. However, it's gotten to the point where the bad is REALLY bad, and they need to be shared publicly in the hopes that things will change, personnel-wise, because I am ready to change doctors over this. First, I should say that the one silver lining is Chris, the receptionist, who excels at customer service and patient care. I am always greeted warmly by name, and Chris puts forth extra effort to accommodate us from the second we get into the waiting room for our appointment to the minute we're leaving out the door. She is so great at her job and maintaining that "family practice" feel. The same can't be said about Dione, the office manager. She is actually MARRIED to Dr. Affleck, and thinks we don't know. Trust me; we know. But because she thinks we don't, she tries to get away with things that she knows better than to do. For example, she never actually provides requested documentation (like letters for work release and school permission forms) in a timely matter. Even worse, she rarely fills medications on time, which I have the pharmacy print-outs to prove. I have lost count of how many times she has forced me to come back into the office with blatantly untrue arguments about how the prescription was never received. Forcing patients to jump through hoops kind of seems to be her standard operating procedure; I have been forced to make numerous "follow-up" appointments during the check-out procedure just to have the doctor answer a simple question that should not necessitate another office visit at her insistence that Dr. Affleck requested it. And more than once, I met with a very confused provider, asking ME why I made an appointment to see him when either a few minutes at my last appointment or a separate phone call could have resolved my question. Eventually, I realized that is her endgame--they can't bill my insurance for a phone call, so the only way answering my question has any value is if they can charge for it. Considering I have never actually seen the doctor on time and my average wait time has been between 45 and 60 minutes every time, it just adds so much insult to injury. Really, what it comes down to is that Dione sees all of us as moneymakers. That's it. She doesn't even respect that we are people with our own lives and privacy needs. In example, basic confidentiality rules don't seem to compute with her. I have heard her talk about other patients--by full name!--complaining to Chris about how they irritated her. I have no doubt I'm one she's complained about to others too because the last time she told me I needed to make an appointment to get a question answered, I threw a fit and absolutely refused to let her bully me into forking over yet another unnecessary co-pay. I reminded her that since they kept me waiting for almost an hour, they could give me an additional five minutes to get my question answered versus trying to force me into yet another appointment. This review is already longer than I meant it to be, but please WAKE UP, Dr. Affleck! Dione is damaging your business from the inside out. So many of us are ready to find a new practice over her behavior but don't really want to leave you.

He ALWAYS takes the time to explain scientifically/biologically/mechanically what is happening so you have an in depth understanding- I've never once felt on a timer here like with other doctor offices. They really prioritize the patient having as much knowledge as possible about what's happening with their body, which I really like. I've referred all my friends and family to him because I feel lucky to get this level of care I also noticed the other reviews are all based on front desk staff, which have nothing to do with the doctor or great level of medical care itself

This was a huge decision for me because I am extremely athletic (even at 45) and want to continue being so for as many years as possible. My martial arts teacher had had ACL surgery done by him years back and it was very successful. I also asked around and 2 other people I trusted told me he was the best in town. I was told his bedside manner could use work by one person, but when I met him, I didn't really get that comment. He was very nice, and patient, and answered all of my many pre-op questions about options and what post-surgery life would look like. He did the procedure on 2/12/13 and it went as well as could be expected. I chose the autograft hamstring option not only because that's his specialty and preferred method (vs. allograft/cadaver or autograft/patellar tendon) but because everyone I spoke with said that was probably the best option in my situation. It was tempting to consider the allograft option because the recovery time is said to be faster (since they're not poaching your own tissue), and when Dr. D does these he says he doesn't irradiate the cadaver tissue which is apparently what is said to cause the stretching in some cases that can cause a later need for a re-do.. which was the downside that I was concerned about with that particular option. It was particularly tempting to go that route because of his stance on that, but in the end I decided to go the hamstring option and I'm glad I did because as I sit here 3 weeks post-op, my hamstring feels pretty good and I envision that my recovery time won't be significantly longer than the allograft option. None of that is meant to constitute medical advice btw..lol.. just some thoughts from my own research in case it helps others in their own research. I'm glad I chose Dr. Degenhardt and would do the surgery again with him.. though I definitely hope that's never necessary.
