We couldn't ask for better libraries in Frederick county! The programs are always well thought-out and varied (plenty of really good programs for adults, teens and kids!) The variety of books and media are extensive. I especially love some of the newly released books that they have at all of the libraries. We recently went to the Point of Rocks library to use the Memory Lab (which is a very nice service that the library offers) to use the equipment and digitize some videos. The librarians and the volunteer who helped us went above and beyond to make sure that everything worked well. We really appreciate everything that FCPL has to offer!! read more

Beautiful library,however there are only a few books in the manga or anime category. Its extremely disappointing bc my child has special needs and found a lot of joy looking through a large section at our old library. He loved reading,but now I have to search elsewhere which is very hard for me. I was told we can just put stuff on hold,but how can my kids find joy if they cant even browse through a decent section that is their passion?! read more

I love the Library. Lots of help, books, films, etc. They have lots of kid's programs, and adult programs, too. My only complaint: Many librarians walk through with keys and cards jingling. They may as well have bells on their shoes. It's quite distracting, and, to me, not 5 star. read more

So while I like the staff, this library is weird. The sheriffs department has deputys posted at the library. Originally, I thought it was library staff checking the bathrooms every thirty minutes. When I went there last they would shake the door handle when someone was clearly in a stall. I don't feel safe taking my son there anymore. I got scared for our safety and my five year old boy was frightened. I went out to investigate and the deputy acted like he was just reading a book standing up ten feet from the door. Super unprofessional. Deputy Tyler Redman gets scheduled there a lot. I saw his uniform and he just ran out like he was some kid playing a prank. Honestly I hope someone scares his little kid like that someday so he knows how it feels. read more

Aside from downtown Rockville's library, this is the nicest library I've ever seen in my life! I don't know when this was built/renovated but it's absolutely amazing and makes me want to move to downtown Frederick! Several beautiful levels with a simple & clean architectural design. Lots of nooks & crannies to relax and enjoy a good book. I believe there's free wi-fi as well. Very kid-friendly with a special children's book section. Lots of parking nearby (garages, off-street, etc.). read more

They have their own parking lot and the library is beautiful. I walked in off the street and asked to use a computer. The gentlemen only asked me one question, 'do you have a library card?' When I said 'no' he printed out the code I needed and was exceptionally pleasant while doing so. read more

I haven't been in the library in a very long time but I came to get access to online materials. I walked into a very clean and warm building and a friendly helper at the circulation desk. She helped me with my card and sent me to reception whom help me download necessary apps to access materials and made sure I had what I needed before I left. If I could give awards for the all the libraries I've visited I would give this one the "most helpful and friendly staff" award. The people working here were absolutely fantastic and happy to help with any questions I had. The space is great as well, the children's section is large but also tucked away in a separate part of the building which allows the children to be children and other library patrons to have peace and quiet for reading, working, or studying. While there aren't a lot of study rooms and they fill up quickly, making a reservation is easy, quick, and free. Highly recommend spending some time here! A real gem of a library. read more

The main branch of the Frederick County libraries is housed in a beautiful building in the heart of downtown. The prime location is on Carroll Creek so you can take your newly checked out books to read by the water. Just as nice, the library is steps from the parking garage and the library validates your ticket so parking is free! I have found the staff to be pleasant and easy to locate. There are a couple of self check out stations, though there never seems to be a wait for those or a staff checkout. They have a really good selection of DVDs that include many new releases as well as classic movies. The first floor also contains new release books and the used books for sale which are priced at 50 cents for paperbacks and $1 for hardbacks. Remember the money goes to FCPL if you're thinking that's a little pricier than Goodwill! The book selection is generally good but I've searched the online catalog for 4-5 books that are not part of the collection. Some were a bit obscure but some were award winners so it was curious that they weren't available. Oh well, that's why I have Amazon Prime! Now that I have moved nearby, I'm eager to try some of the amenities the library offers such as Babies & Books story time and Monday morning yoga for adults. read more

This library is a pretty amazing place for my children. The children's library is full of places to explore (like a tiny barn with puppets or pint-sized standing puzzles). It also has tempting nooks with thought-inspiring toys- an oversize checker board, a tot-high table with games and legos, and a large interactive screen with learning games. I, myself, appreciate the adult learning that is available at this library. For instance, Dr. Elizabeth Letourneau from the John Hopkins-based Moore Center for the Prevention of Child Sexual Abuse held a free conference here. I first followed her on TED talks and it was great to see the library with such a valuable proffering, free of charge. Once my kids are older, I think they'll also enjoy the STEM workshops, so I'm pretty excited. read more

Frederick's C Burr Artz library has the finest selection of philosophy audios any where in Maryland! Ritzy Montgomery County doesn't hold a candle to Frederick Counties main library. Hats off to who ever chooses what goes on the shelves read more

I like this library! This library is like a sanctuary for me! This library has everything you can imagine, they even validate parking if you parked in the parking garage. The only thing I don't like about the library is that all the computers are being taken up and you'd have to wait at least 30 minutes to an hour before one is available. One time, I was using the computer at the library and this guy who was using the computer next to mine was on some smut website!!!!! I wish they can filter out those websites!!! Another complaint I have about this library is that people who check out books, DVD's, etc., never check them back in!!!! They're so disgusting!!! They think it's theirs to keep forever. Overall, this is a good library. read more

The abundance of homeless inside talking to themselves sitting in front of the shelves as well as numerous homeless sleeping on the steps and ramps outside are an immediate turnoff. No matter what other programs or events they do this is an extremely unappealing place to take children. read more

The children's section could not be better. There is such a great selection of books, but most of all there's am extensive Waldorf-type play area that encourages children to play together, share, take turns, and investigate the world around them. My toddler spent nearly an hour and a half there today (his second visit), just exploring and playing independently. It was lovely. read more
