Aside from downtown Rockville's library, this is the nicest library I've ever seen in my life! I don't know when this was built/renovated but it's absolutely amazing and makes me want to move to downtown Frederick! Several beautiful levels with a simple & clean architectural design. Lots of nooks & crannies to relax and enjoy a good book. I believe there's free wi-fi as well. Very kid-friendly with a special children's book section. Lots of parking nearby (garages, off-street, etc.).

They have their own parking lot and the library is beautiful. I walked in off the street and asked to use a computer. The gentlemen only asked me one question, 'do you have a library card?' When I said 'no' he printed out the code I needed and was exceptionally pleasant while doing so.

    Calm and relaxing

I haven't been in the library in a very long time but I came to get access to online materials. I walked into a very clean and warm building and a friendly helper at the circulation desk. She helped me with my card and sent me to reception whom help me download necessary apps to access materials and made sure I had what I needed before I left. I sat a while to enjoy my product and then headed out. Very nice experience

I completely agree with reviewer Jake D. Walkersville Branch…read moreis much more of a recreation center, than a library. They do have a BIG community room where they *could* close the door so they don't disturb those who are looking for quiet while researching, and studying. But the meeting room remains empty while those attempting to do research and study are subjected to everything from rowdy dance routines to crowds of folks wanting their tarot cards read. I've seen adults watching news stories on their phones at full volume without using headphones. Fortunately they have some disposable earbuds available at the front desk. I hand them to those who do not know what is appropriate behavior in a library.

Wonderful children's space with inviting books that is open to the rest of the library. All creates a wonderful community library. If you seek more quiet or a curmudgeon that expects Shhhusing. Not to be found here - gratefully so. There are about 4 rooms that are closed door work/quiet rooms that I see rarely used but good if needed. Yes - good internet service. And the staff - All Librarians helpful, skilled and knowledgeable. If they don't have the book they will research and find the book somewhere in Maryland and have it for you within a few days. And fun to talk to about a subject. There are weekly events inside such as (recent) fly fishing, retirement, crafts, etc. and outside such as Saturday morning farmers market. Outside seating to read. And if you have some recent books that you'd like to donate - they receive to fund extra activities. New to Federick - and glad this is my local library.

They have a snack room where you can eat your meals and then go off to the reading and web surfing. Lots of floors. They have group study rooms that you can reserve to study in (2 people min.) Printing is 7 cents per page for black and white. The lighting is great and it generally very quiet and provides you with a great place to study. Oh yea, open 24 hours and 7 days a week during the semester!! (except for major holidays!)

The collection's pretty extensive; I'd say that of the book searches I've done, they have about 70% of what I've needed. The reading rooms can get overcrowded during the school year, and often with students who are working in groups or goofing off. There's a fine line between having a pleasant background buzz and getting distracted by the conversation two tables over, and the latter is too often the case here. The quiet study rooms have widely disregarded "no laptop" signs and few power outlets. That said, crowding should improve once construction is complete. You will need a university ID card to enter; most large universities nationally are members of ARL, and most local universities are members of CIRLA or WRLC. Accessing any of the computers, even for a catalog search, requires signing up at the circulation desk for a temporary network ID (the Starbucks wi-fi works fine in its vicinity), and non-GW users have to leave at midnight.
