A family-run hazelnut orchard and direct-to-consumer farm. Located in the mid-Willamette Valley. They handle every aspect of growing and processing. They roast the hazelnuts in small batches in their Italian roaster, the hazelnuts are delivered to consumers within hours of shelling and roasting. A great source of protein and fiber. They roast and package their products just days before shipment. You can find their products in farmers markets, local retailers, and even on Amazon. They have Dry Roasted, Raw, Salted, Diced, Zesty, and Chocolate. You can even get Hazelnut Oil, and pancake mix. Barb and Fritz Foulke own and operate Freddy Guys Hazelnuts and are assisted by their children and parents. They might be able to start doing tours of their facility soon. When it comes to food, the first thing a serious cook learns is that there are generic ingredients and then there are people who make the same thing in a special way. Hazelnuts, or filberts, are grown commercially as a generic item in the Sacramento River Valley, and go into a supermarket or buy a candy bar and this is what you find. Yeah, it is a hazelnut, but so what. Fritz and Barb Foulke, the proprietors of Freddy Guys, do it a little differently. More heirloom genetically, and better cared for. Sort of the gourmet's hazelnut. Cost a bit more, but you get more flavor for the price. If you do not want to make the run out to Monmouth, they also sell their nuts at the Portland Farmer's Market. Look for them. Heaven is imagining a Gianduia Chocolate made with Freddy Guys hazelnuts. read more

Picked these up as a gift for my children on a recent trip to oregon. As i was in the airport for departure, found them in a market selling local oregon products.
