Years ago during my first trip to Germany I was surprised to find very high quality pizza. In…read moreseveral cities we ate wood-fired pizza with a slightly charred thin crust and super fresh toppings. My wife accompanied me to Neuemberg on business and I had an eye out looking for a place specializing in this type of pizza. When we walked by Pizz&Via in Old Town and I saw the crust in the window I knew this would be the place. On the first night we ordered a Parma pizza and watched the staff finely shaved heart of prosciutto ham with a precision hand slicer from Italy. The pizza came directly to our table from the wood-fired oven and was excellent. So was the fresh salad that we shared pared with excellent Italian red wine that was recommended by Pedro our waiter. In conversation with Pedro we learned that he and his younger brother own and manage Pizz&Via. These guys so impressed us because they are in their early 20's but really have it going on. The next night was the final game for the World Cup so we returned to Pizz&Via to watch the game on their outdoor TV and enjoy another meal which was also excellent. This night Pedro taught us to drink "Grappa", a unique Italian liquor to aid digestion. What a great experience for dining and cultural exchange. If we lived in Nuemberg this would be our come-to Friday night place. Mike and Kathy

Worst experience in a while. Thinking I'll pick up some quick pasta at their street sales window to…read moretake home for dinner was a huge mistake. It started out easy enough. I ordered Bolognese pasta to go. Paid and was told it should be ready in a few minutes. No problem. So there I stand and wait. And wait. Another customer came by and ordered a pizza. Another came by and ordered pasta and when they received their pasta, I inquired where my pasta was. So I was asked again what I wanted and asked for payment. I explained I already paid but never received my pasta. It was clear this guy didn't believe me, yelled back at the kitchen, back and forth it went, then I was told it would be a few minutes. When the pizza guy received and left with his pizza, I inquired again about my pasta. Again they wwere trying to take my order and charge me. So I asked for a refund upon which the guy got really angry, refused and yelled that he will give me pasta. It was obvious he thought I was cheating him out of pasta. I did eventually get my pasta, but I have to say it was awful and definitely not worth the half hour I spent waiting for my 'quick' to go dinner. I am actually wondering if it was awful on purpose since it was plain to see that I was assumed to be a liar. So if you are going with the street vending, get a receipt for sure.

The patio is blocked off from the street traffic by umbrellas and big planters, which give you almost a backyard feel. Prices are very reasonable and the service is relatively fast and friendly. I devoured my tuna pizza (yep that's a thing in Europe) as is was perfect. Lots of tuna, onions and capers with a delicious oven-fired crust. Highly recommend this place. I did not venture inside, so I cannot describe that part unfortunately.

Even the pretzel bun had good flavor and it was toasted for a nice crunch. On the side the burger comes with a fresh salad that perfectly balances the heaviness of the burger.
