You do need to watch the weather because if you're trying to do the loop it can get a little too marshy back there to make it possible. Bring bug spray. The horseflies almost carried me away. If you'd like to look at nature and just get outside and walk this is a great spot to do it. Watch your footing because some of the spots do get a little slick.

A sweetheart from the group arrived at 6 am and was able to secure a nice pavilion on the lakeside, adjacent to the restrooms and across from plenty of parking. The pavilion come with a grill (we didn't use) and a large trash bin nearby. The area had a few trees around and was nicely shaded, this made the combination of good weather result in a really good experience. There is a nice trail for walking, hiking and cycling. Near the parking, there is a play area for children and a fenced dog park area. Overall, I thought I had a good experience and think that it is a fabulous area. I do hope to get back out here at some point in the future.

Lake Hiawatha Preserve Park - Frisbee Golf (Disc Golf Course)…read more Finally, a legit 18-hole disc golf course near Clermont, Florida. It's also a great place to bring your dogs! They have a nice fenced in area to let your dogs mingle and play with other dogs off the leash and there's a trail and some back country you can take them and run with. The good: - Solid mix of wooded technical holes and a few open bombers around the lake. Holes 4-8 along the water are gorgeous, especially at sunset. - Tee pads are concrete and in great shape (huge upgrade from the old rubber mats). - New Mach X baskets catch well and the bright yellow bands make them easy to spot. - Multiple pin positions on several holes keep it fresh -- they move them every few months. - Free parking, clean porta-potty near hole 1, and the course flows really well. Rarely any backups even on weekends. The "eh": - Can get soggy after rain (bring boots in spring). A couple fairways hold water like a sponge. - Hole 13's long position is a total prayer across the marsh -- fun once, frustrating the other 19 times. Highly recommend for intermediate and up. Beginners might get humbled on the back 9, but that's how we all learn! Will keep coming back. 4.5 stars rounded down only because mother nature still wins sometimes.

Trimble Park is a scenic recreational area in Mt. Dora. It is located on a peninsula which was a…read moreformer isthmus between two lakes, Lake Carlton and Lake Beauclaire. The park was created in 1926 when Sadie Conner Trimble who was the first postmistress of Lake Jem and her husband R.J. Trimble donated 71 acres to create Trimble Park. In October 1978, Orange County purchased another 31.5 acres from a failed development and used it to create the campground area. The main feature of the park is the picnic grove and playground at the end of the road. My favorite part of Trimble Park however was the hiking area where there is a 1.3 mile loop trail suitable for all ages and hiking abilities. The trail takes you around the perimeter of the triangular shaped park and down to Lake Beauclair where ancient oaks ring the lake. Over the trail are mature wild citrus trees which produce fruit and blooms throughout the year. Birds you might encounter include osprey, ibis, red-winged blackbirds, and herons. Trimble Park also has a 15 site campground for groups, trailers. and single tents that is set around a small cove along Lake Carlton. Here you will also find fishing decks and a launch for paddlers. It is easy to see why this park is a favorite outdoor recreational destination for families, campers, and nature enthusiasts. Whether you're looking to camp, hike, fish, or simply relax, this park provides a welcome and peaceful retreat in Central Florida.

The views are beautiful and we appreciated all of the areas with trees that helped keep the heat bearable in the afternoon. There are a lot of sections that intersect with the roadway so you have to stay alert and possibly not have very young children lead the way. There were lots of people on the trail when we visited and everyone seemed to be mindful of each other.

They have a sports complex with pickleball and tennis, a dog park and softball field all in good shape. There is a short cement trail at this area along with a short trail to walk your dog. Dogs are not allowed in the rest of the park. Everything on this area seems well maintained. We ride our bikes there but then there are no bike trails, just hiking. Beautiful natural place that was reclaimed from a previous cattle farm.

All in all, my visit to this park was a nice respite from the highway and stress and strain of modern living and all of the hassles involved with it. If you are cruising through Leesburg on 27 and are looking for a parkto takeabreak, this is a good place to head for. AsI have said, this is a small Park, however, Leesburg it's not a big place. I think this park fix the city of Leesburg quite well. I am giving it four stars overall.
