As Meg R. reported, Stadium Freddie's is a kind of mess; more precisely chaos. But it is slowly, visibly coming together. I'm used to this store and its major changes over the 32 years I've shopped here. You always seemed to expect another chaotic rearrangement about every 7 years. I'm all optimism all the time with this Freddies location. Some of the best employees you'll find anywhere. I suspect the best yet is just about to happen. I live 4 blocks from a competitor, but for 32 years I've almost always headed over to my Stadium Fred Meyer instead. The business I frequent most after my school. This Fred Meyer is smaller than many, as it is basically just a supermarket with an electronics section. It's a decent grocery store. As with most Freddys, the produce isn't great, and neither is the seafood, but the prices are good and it's a 2 minute walk away from my apartment. Plus, there is always a good deal on some interesting beer that I want to drink (though I rarely buy beer anymore since I homebrew so much). read more

this fred meyer in my opinion, is better than the NE 28th/ Weilder one. this fred meyer is pretty chill, nice atmosphere with some pleasant employees. i was asked if i needed help at this fred meyer and help they served. unlike the other fred meyer, with their employees looking at you as if youre about to steal or if you ask for help, they stare at you like youre a unwanted mentally challenged five year old. :/ the electronics dept., produce dept., and front end employees.. you have made me a fan of your store. i give you three stars.. just cuz i have to take the bus to youz. lol. good store overall. read more

This is probably the nicest Fred Meyer I've been to. I never saw a Fred Meyer in a downtown area so I had to check it out after I was eating Pizza across the street. This place is really clean and organized. I usually associate Fred Meyer's with interesting people since I used to work at one in High School. This particular one could be compared to a Trader Joes or Whole Foods. They have more selection of premium meats and seafood. Also more organic options as well. They have an area where the sushi was on a revolving belt which was surprising. Other stores need to step their game up! read more

I personally avoid this Fred Meyer. I actually never feel safe when I have shopped here. They continue to expand self check out and have less checkers and more paranoid and over worked, under trained security guards. This store lacks kindness, and it is actually a very hostile environment. They treat their employees so poorly and it reflects in the customer service. I know that their are good people that work there, and I feel sorry for them. I shop at New Season's and Food Front where it may seem counter intuitive but you can actually find way better deals and sales on higher quality food. You feel safe and employees are happy. I am prompted to write this review because my good friend who has the highest level of integrity was chased down the street after a rare shopping trip to this Fred Meyer today. A security guard accused her of shoplifting vitamins. In no way did she shoplift anything. She even let him look at her purse. (I would not have) It was not legal what he did, which reflects poor training from Fred Meyer. The rude and humiliating treatment towards my friend is not a surprise but yet another confirmation about this store. Fred Meyer needs to improve their training, pay people way better, lower their prices and not treat this store likes its in the middle of a grocery desert. read more

This store is different from other Fred Meyers. It's smaller, has good produce, excellent cheese selection, ok meat, and several other items most grocery stores won't have. No clothing or automotive like other FMs. I appreciate the store being in the neighborhood. The produce keeps getting better and that natural foods section is quite good. I want to dislike the fact that FM got bought out by Kroger, but this store still feels like Portland and does a good job. Nice local grocery store. read more

It's a great location and very clean, tidy, and humongous. The store seems as big as the stadium, but has an extensive beer and wine section and decent natural foods/produce selection. Definitely convenient if you're staying in the NW and near the bus stop. read more

Sometimes, while doing my Weekly Errands and going to my Appointments in Downtown Portland, Oregon I stop in and shop at this Stadium Fred Meyer. Since the remodel a few years ago I've become well acquainted with the Three Flights of Steep Steps that One has to Climb in order to get to some of the Public Restrooms on the Third ( they call it the Second ) Floor. Although it's GREAT that this Fred Meyer now offers Cooking Classes, I won't need them. I have seen PLENTY of Theft at this Fred Meyer ( it IS Downtown, after all )... I hope they can Prosecute all those " Bad Guys " that are Lurking in the Shelves stealing things. The Sushi that goes around on the Conveyor Belt, and is in the Refrigerator Case nearby is sooooo Tasty!!! I LOVE it! I'll definitely be back in the Future! Sometimes, the Sale Prices listed are the SAME as the Prices on the East Side of Portland, Oregon... and THAT'S saying something! Most of my Friends that have worked at this Location still work here, but a bunch of them have Transferred Out to other Locations around the Portland, Oregon area. The Beer and Wine Selection is Really, Really well stocked... on Most Days that I've been shopping here, as well. Fred Meyers completes out "must need now" shopping list. We leave our primary shopping to WinCo. Fred Meyers prices are okay. The service is hit or miss. We've had to go to the Service desk a couple times because price charged on the receipt didn't reflect the price marked on the shelf. It's kind of annoying and unethical, so I hope these mistakes are not a trend. read more

The employees at this Fred Meyer are always helpful and kind. They treat the homeless people who shop there politely and humanely. I really appreciate that. This review is for the Starbucks stand inside the stadium Freddie's. I love the store. But I will never return to the Starbucks stand. The pock-faced Barista girl working their was SO rude. While I enjoy shopping at FM, yesterday, I was told this location is very understaffed so the BottleDrop location in the parking garage cannot give very good service. The BD person locked up to take a break (yes, that person should get a break), but no one came to take over. The lineup of people was very long, & the BottleDrop Door was so full, it was IMPOSSIBLE for me to leave my two bags. When someone finally did show up (after I'd walked upstairs to Customer Service), that person told me she couldn't clear the BottleDrop Door, but that she would take my two bags & place them with all the other green bags (very grateful for that). BottleDrop is very popular, so I really think the number of staff needs to be increased. read more

This has to be my favorite Fred Meyer location. It is conveniently located in the Alphabet District and it has parking. They have the usual selection of produce, meat, and household items. I particulary like the organic veggies here. There is a wide selection for organic veggies there and they are reasonably priced too. But my favorite section at Freddy has to be the bakery. The display of sweet goodness would make you want to take something sweet home afterward. I really like the mini chococolate chip cookies and oatmeal raisin cookies with cream filling inside. There was usually a line here when ever I was there but the staff was nice enough to give me a discount for waiting. That's wonder customer service I think. read more

Great grocery store. I just moved from the East Coast and the only thing back home like this is considered super special. This place is huge. Their organic section is like a small grocery store in itself. The produce section is massive and fresh. It's like a fancy mini-Walmart that's more focused on fresh food. They're always so well stocked and helpful. I've only ever had friendly cashiers who love to talk about anything. The parking is convenient if you have to do a big trip as well. read more

You can never go wrong with Fred Meyer. They've got it all. The stores have changed significantly as the years have passed and I do miss the way they used to be, but times have changed and all I can do is accept it. But FM remains strong as ever and their prices, while not always the lowest around, are usually good. According to an article in "The Oregonian" in the late 90s, a staggering 88 percent of Portlanders shop there, or have been inside a Fred Meyer store within the past (approximately) 2 weeks. read more

Fred Meyer "pharmacy" isn't. They dispense prescription refills from one location to stores more than a hundred miles away, only keeping a few medications on hand. And they do so with absolutely no interest on the part of the "pharmacy" employees who are really just sort of sub-clerical in their range of functions (file prescriptions. Look up prescription when customer comes in. Not there, tough. ) On Sat. a doctor phoned a prescription in from home for my husband, which was necessary because it addressed a life-threatening, immediate problem. The people at Fred Meyer supposedly ordered it. When I went in to get it, I was told it would be delivered by truck from Portland on Monday. That is what she sees in the computer. Nothing they can do ... no way to get it sooner because the truck doesn't deliver on Sundays. So Monday, I call to verify its in. I am told the computer says "Tuesday". So when I ask why on Saturday was I told Monday she says "You have to ask the person who put it into the system or who told you that". She repeats "It says Tuesday". So here we are. If Freddy's hadn't lied to me on Saturday about when it was going to be delivered I would have asked them to make it a priority for Monday. I would have gone to customer service and otherwise tried to get that medication. As it is, my husband would have probably fibrulated out by now except that I had an old bottle of this medication and have been giving him that. Of course, I don't know the right dosage ... Freddy's pharmacy service is a bad joke and the joke is on the customers. read more

My apologies to Ptown natives who might not appreciate the Walmart comparision, but the layout and feel of the place almost sent me back to WallyWorld, even if this isnt one of the larger outlets. This is located footsteps from my condo in Portland , so it's really convenient for frequent grocery shopping. This Fred Meyer is however way smaller than others I have been to. One stop shopping, for sure! Picked up back up wine, balloon bouquets, and flower bouquets for our party. A pumpkin beer and hot sandwich while we wait for bouquet orders! Beers are $5 a pint! Wine: red, white and rosé are $5 a glass! We love the newly remodeled store! read more

With such limited parking in the underground parking lot, Fred Meyer should not allow employees to park in the lot. Employees are there all day/night for a long period of time (maybe 8 hours straight), while customers are only there to shop & get out but it's a headache if you can't find parking or take a while to find one. Not such great customer service. read more

This is a very large grocery store, but with no merchandizing thought. The store does not seem to co-locate complimenting ingredients like dairy with dairy. If you don't have a pre planned action plan, be prepared to do a lot of back tracking. read more

I've never had a more positive experience in a general supermarket than at Fred Meyer's Stadium Store on NW 20th Place. First of all, the staff here are the BEST. For a huge outfit like Kroger, Fred Meyer has to be their finest example of retailing. A person could live by their samples alone, I kid you not. Prices here are often equal or below the discounters, and quality is excellent. My advice to anyone is to read their weekly flyer - why, have you ever seen lower prices on milk, eggs or OJ (clip those coupons). I thoroughly enjoy my 3 or 4 weekly trips to this store (best general supermarket in Portland, and probably in the PNW). read more

Worst pharmacy ever! I was sent away twice with we will have your meds ready in 30 minutes. Over an hour later, I'm sick, still waiting. They also have people cut in line if they recognize the patients. If I could give them no stars I would. Back to Rite Aid after this I go. read more

This has got to be the worst Fred Meyer on Earth! I usually love Freddy's, it's my go-to store, the customer service and product quality is unmatched. Unless... you go to this one downtown. The people who work there are snooty and speak down to their customers. They think that because there's a few homeless people who also shop here, that they can treat their customers like dirt. They don't look you in the eye, they don't help you find items, and they never-ever smile at you. In fact, what you'll probably get is an eye roll if you ask for any help. I've been to Freddy's in PDX, Gresham, Tigard, Eugene, Beaverton, Waldport, and Grant's Pass, and I've never been treated with such disdain. I moved into NW Portland last year, and every time I shop there, I get the same, horrible service. The only people that give good service are the Pharmacy dept, and the lady with short hair who works in cosmetics, and occasionally the bakery dept. The newly remodeled Fred's is really nice. Well stocked, bright friendly and a lot of selection. Make sure you cook Amy seafood well. Customer service at deli, meat and seafood is tops. This Fred Meyer has recently had some work done, and while I am still trying to figure out where everything is located, the store looks beautiful and seems much more spacious than ever. The store actually seems to offer customers more variety in shopping needs. The remodel included adding a growler station, I don't see many grocery stores where you can purchase a growler of beer with you groceries. read more

Would prefer to give 4.5 stars but don't see a way to split a star in two ... I live two blocks from the Pearl Safeway and I go there ONLY out of necessity, like if it's morning and I have no milk for the coffee. Otherwise, even though it means taking the car, I choose FM because: The staff is friendly, the produce is excellent. I don't eat much meat, but it looks red enough and the fish? Well, the truth is, the fish at Whole Foods looks shinier, but the prices there are astronomical. The prices at Safeway are higher and there is less choice since SW chooses to sell its own brand over independent brands. I like the crazies. At first, when I moved to PDX in 2007, I was put off by some of the customers at FM. However, they have to eat too, right? I like that they always have a fine selection of inexpensive orchids. Parking is simple, either underneath or in the lot across the street. Would I buy from the deli department? Surely you jest. For take-out grocery food, I head to Whole Foods. What about Zupan's? It's just across the street from Fred Meyer, but I believe the people who shop at Zupan's are the same ones who clean their hands every five minutes. High prices, awkward layout. This store is very convenient for me. I shop here at least 2-3 times a week. I shop here after a long days at the doctors office for treating my terminal cancer diagnosis. Most days I am wiped out and its nice to know that there are people like Yvonee who work there at the check stands to help me and make my day easier. One day I was in tears from the bad news I just received on my health and the chronic pain I endure daily that I just could not hide how terrible I was feeling. Also someone posted a complaint that there is no elevator going to the parking lot and rated one start well there is an escalator dummy maybe ask one of the friendly staff instead of assuming there is no way to get to the parking lot. I love this Fred Meyer! Its convenient, a bit smaller than most Fred Meyer's, almost like a city target. Even though its a mini version, they did a great job including the essentials in the store. I rarely need to make another stop after visiting this location. In addition, there is always wild times and great activity on Burnside just a step outside of the front entrance. Despite the hooligans, they do a good job of keeping the store front clean. read more
