I took my Ford Expedition in for service today and was surprised to receive this message " With the underhood fire recall that you have on your vehicle we are not able to release it as it is dangerous. Ford is offering to pay for a large SUV recall until we get the parts in to have this completed." Can you imagine my surprise when I got this? Bad news is never handled well when spring on you. It feels like I was tricked into bringing my car in and then surprised. So the car that I pay for is being held at the dealer and was disabled so that I can't drive it. Ok, I understand that there is a potential issue and Ford is covering their liability BUT don't surprise someone with this. Also, have a plan before you decide to take my car without ransom. As far as the promise to give me an equivalent car, we'll, that didn't happen. I did get a smaller, older vehicle model with many less options and more miles and without a tow hitch that my current Expedition does have. I cannot tow our boat with this option. I was also told that I would have this car for potentially months, as others have been waiting for a month already for the fix. How could this have been handled better? Plan for customer satisfaction not surprise dissatisfaction. The customer service was so bad that I can hardly believe this happened. So I will be paying for a vehicle that sits at the dealership disabled. read more

Dealership refuses to test dead battery well within warranty because they require us to have the car there, which would be fine if they were willing to tow, but they expect us to pay to tow it. Instead of just testing the battery and replacing it per the batteries warranty. In other words they are trying to weasel out of an obligation even as small as a battery. The price did not match what I was told on the phone, despite my repeated requests for a written breakdown. I was informed that they were busy, and trusting in people, I drove one hour from Lancaster county. Ivan, the salesperson, essentially misrepresented the situation over the phone to secure my business. When I arrived, the price was $4000 higher because I did not qualify as a Ford employee, first responder, college graduate, and an army member at the same time. The only thing I can recommend about this dealership is that you count your fingers after you shake hands with them. I stopped by Saturday 1/29/22. They did not have the Sorento I wanted so they said I could place an order. They said the factory would not even acknowledge the order for 4-5 months and that it would take 6-8 total to get the car. Sticker price plus $2,800, and required $1,000 down to hold my spot. Monday 1/31 I find the same car available in Lancaster, available for February delivery, sticker price plus tax. From buying my car to having to return for service has always been an issue. Started with 6-7 credit rings to find me a good loan rate when I told them I had my financing set up already!! They clearly didn't like this!! Last time I had service they completely overcharged me -never called to indicate pricing for an oil change would be over $100?!?! Don't even want to write this but Yelp asked me about my experience. Looking for a car, the salesman, Chip, who has been there for years was assigned to us. Nice enough while chatting on the phone, but suddenly became aggressive when trying to sales pitch me on why the car was perfect for us. We reluctantly went to look at the vehicle. When we arrived, he was nice enough but let us know that the vehicle we had been looking forward to seeing suddenly had a check engine light on and we couldn't test drive it. So we went to look at it. All the bells and whistles, a truly beautiful vehicle, HOWEVER, as we're sitting in the car looking at all the features, he finishes the list of all the options and then he suddenly starts yelling "AND THATS WHY THIS CAR IS YOURS!!! THIS IS YOUR CAR!!!" Like we won some sort of prize. And jumps out of the car. It was startling and completely strange. We couldn't even test drive the vehicle. Still mildly interested in the vehicle, we were promised we would have a phone call the next day as to why the check engine light was on and when we could come test drive. Two days later we're only texted about asking if we're still interested. Never a word on why the light was on. So shady! We decided ultimately that the aggressive sales tactics and the shady check engine light was enough for us to never do business with Fried Beans. read more

This review is based upon my interest in buying a new vehicle. Rating Sales Staff only. I visited here with my boyfriend one afternoon after work. I was interested in possibly trading in my 2015 Ford Edge (bought brand new) for a 2019 Ford Edge. I just was interested in my options as far as financing, pricing, etc. I didn't NEED a new car as I LOVE my Edge. We were greeted immediately after parking and getting out of the vehicle by Andy. He asked me what he could do for me or what I was looking for and I explained that I was possibly interested in a brand new Edge or Escape. He showed me what he had on the lot, they had a ton of Escapes, but only a few Edge's--unfortunately, none which I was interested in. I wanted to see what my payments might be if I upgraded, so went into the dealership to crunch some numbers. He came up with some numbers and printed them out. I have great credit and a great state job that I've been at for 20 years. But I think when I walked in with my black boyfriend, who just got off of work and looked a little dirty, we were profiled. Without checking my credit, he assumed and quoted me this ridiculously high APR. And made comments when I asked for a lower APR like, "Well, if you think you could get that...." very condescendingly. I currently have a car loan with 2.9% and when I told him that, he seemed very surprised. Then he low-balled me on my trade. KBB trade-in value was $11,800 (I travel a lot and have high miles). They wanted to give me $10,000. I could SELL it on KBB for higher than that (I did the research). Then when looking at this quote he gave me, I caught a bunch of add-ons that they failed to explain to me before showing me the numbers -- an accessory package for $1,000 that I didn't need and then at the bottom they added "Image Care" and some other "Care" both at around $300 each. When I questioned them, he said, "Oh I can take those off." When he couldn't meet the numbers I wanted to see and I decided to walk out, he then tried to show me a vehicle that I wasn't interested in AT ALL. A tiny ass Ford Eco Sport. Dude--are you kidding me??? He had it parked at the entrance to the dealership so when I walked out he said, "At least sit in it!" GTFOH. If you go to this dealership, BEWARE of the practices. And yes, of course he was a very friendly guy--salespeople generally are when they want to make sales. Especially at the end of the month. I went to Susquehanna Chrysler/Jeep and bought a 2019 Dodge Challenger AWD. My dream car. Great service and they didn't try jerking me around. And I got a great price. I'm more than happy and would never visit or recommend Fred Beans Ford to deal with the stereotypical salespeople. SMH. read more

Horrible experience at this dealership. Long post below on details. Summary: if you don't mind paying markups, applied anytime at the discretion of the dealership even after a PO is sent, this flashy dealership is your go-to spot. If not: in their words "no test drives here 'pal' continue along" GM (Dave Hatalla) sent me a written quote for a Maverick Lariat at MSRP. After i mentioned i was out of the area got a call to confirm, the afternoon before my appointment, that i would buy it for sure on my first visit to mark the truck "sold" and to send them my id + insurance info. He then asked me to buy something for the GM because he gave me a great deal: I was going to... 20 minutes before our appointment time (my drive to dealership=75 miles) salesman calls and says price is actually $13k more. If I didn't want the "deal" they didn't care and to go home. Considering the personal and work arrangements i made for the "big deal" I asked to keep my appointment time. When I arrive I am informed I was given wrong price because I shopped at the other dealership locations closer to my home and so it is my fault that they sent me the marked up price for an XLT. I asked if i could get an XLT hybrid and they didn't have one in stock. I asked about the paper copy, which didn't have any specs and only the Out The Door price and they said they would not honor it because I should have looked up the VIN. I did ask the salesman and GM multiple times for the Window Sticker Sheet for the specs which they conveniently did not send. They offered to reduce their markup to match the local market markup rate. During my visit the GM did not once have a conversation with me and chose to instead route all conversations through the salesman who appeared to be empathetic and said his GM would not budge because there were other customers waiting to pay the higher markup after I decline. I asked to meet me halfway of the markup and in response the price dropped by 1%.... It was apparent the dealership did not want my purchase or wanted to make appropriations for their error or own it. I was also told that the dealership looked up my personal information online to "better understand who they were dealing with".... the dealership will likely respond to this post by saying to call them to sort this out. they have my number, email and unfortunately my personal info. While i'm afraid they will use this posting to blacklist me from their other locations hopefully no one else falls for this trap... read more

I brought a 2014 Ford Fiesta to Beans to have a leaking water pump replaced , which is covered by an extended warrantee that I purchased when I bought the car a year ago . I called them to check on the progress and they told me that the water pump was on backorder and they had no idea when it would arrive . I did two chat sessions with Ford and got the same answer . After 16 days I called Hoffman Ford , where I bought the car and warrantee , requesting my $1490 warrantee money back . Hoffman told me to get the car to them and they would use an aftermarket part which Ford would cover since they could not provide the part . Bean could have done this if they cared about customers . If I could give the a grade in the - number I would . They don't deserve any stars . read more

If there were negative stars I would choose that! I took my car in for a tune up (spark plug replacement) a few months ago. During my drive from PA to TX and while in the middle of nowhere Arkansas my car started misfiring and I lost acceleration. After numerous attempts and convincing to find an open dealership on a Saturday, we found one willing to take us and hold the mechanic 2.5 hrs away from our current location. During the repair at another Ford dealership, they found 3 of the 8 spark plugs were not torqued correctly (i.e. could be removed with your hand). Additionally, the misfire was due to one of the 3 spark plugs missing the ground electrode (pictures below). No one knows where the ground electrode is located which could lead to future engine damage. Yes, Fred Beans did reimburse the cost of the emergency repair and agreed to cover any future engine damages that may be caused by that specific piston. I guess I am supposed to HOPE it doesn't happen on another road trip and also pay extra money to prove that any future damage was caused by the missing ground electrode. Nothing was given for my time or inconvenience. In fact, when I asked for extra reimbursement, I was laughed at. I guess my time and 2.5 hrs of drive crawling to a dealership means NOTHING to this franchise.  If only they were in my shoes.... Secondly, I had a weather strip replaced ($600) that is coming apart after only 5 months. Lastly, I had a simple oil change and tire rotation completed. The next day, I noticed very bad vibration. Apparently, the wheels were not balanced. Ironically, they were closed the next day and I had to drive out of town for military duty. I guess a test drive and/or tire balance was not included in the service. These were all 3 separate expensive services. I will NEVER take my car to this dealership again! read more

I took my fleet vehicle in for Service 2 weeks ago. I needed an inspection done and was having issues with the middle console of my 2018 Ford Explorer not turning on half the time I turned my car on. So with the technology today - that means no radio, no navigation, no A/C and Heat control visualization, etc. Anyway they inspected it and told me everything was good to go. They just had to update the software in the console. All good. Well a few days later I keep having the same issues with the console. I give it a few days and the same thing. I called this morning to bring it in and they're said that they can't get me in for another week. I'm a salesman who is in his car all day every day and they can't get me in to fix an electrical console problem for another WEEK - that was supposed to be fixed 2 weeks ago? They confessed they don't put that kind of money in used vehicles if it don't concern safety/ inspection . I personally think everything should be repaired on any vehicle . DISHONEST DEALERSHIP!! OUT OF STATE BUYERS BEWARE!!!! I interacted with Chip and Dave over the email for a used 2020 Jeep Wrangler as I am from Maryland and wanted to be sure of the deal before I make the drive. We agreed on a price of $62,000 OTD for Maryland. So I made the 2 hour trip with my family to get the Jeep. Chip helped us at the dealership. After the test drive and visual inspection, we agreed to go ahead with the purchase. After an hour of paper work etc. their finance guy Dan told me that since I am an "out of state" customer, I will have to go through the hassle of getting the vehicle inspected, registered and titles etc AND on top of that I have to pay for the State Inspection, title and Registration fee.FROM MY POCKET!!! As per them it should be a few hundred dollars so shouldn't be a big deal. I argued that when we agreed to an OTD price of $62K, it means that it should include all these Government fees as well. So ideally they should reduce the OTD price by "these few hundred" dollars. but they were adamant on their price. Well I get that in these times, dealers are out to make the max profits on each deal but atleast they shouldn't be dishonest. I was really put off by their behavior and simple walked away even though it was a "few hundred" dollars. read more

Salesman Harrison was top notch! He stated That he is relatively new to the business, however is off to a great start and has a promising future! This dealer also communicates with each other and out of the 3 people i spoke to, they all knew what was going on with my deal. I also spoke to salesman Chip who was also great and very helpful. Eric the finance manager was not like any other finance manager I've dealt with they are typically pushy and arrogant. This was not the case with Eric. He was informative and helpful, providing me with all the information I needed and assisted however he could. Upper Marlboro have me a great deal on the truck I purchased and also great value on my trade. This is not common during current times with any of the other Ford dealers. Harrison even drove the truck 3 hours to me and picked up my trade in. This was an effortless vehicle purchase and I feel upper Marlboro did whatever they could to make the deal happen. The service advisor was completely incompetent. They didn't do the work I asked for, left work unfinished requiring a follow up, and attempted to charge inflated hours for basic services. Three strikes and you're out. I bought a car from Fred Bean's back in August. I was sold up and down how they had given it a thorough inspection and it was in great condition. I drove it around the neighborhood and it seemed fine. I guess it was my fault for not taking it to my mechanic but on the way home it started shuttering and screaming. I called immediately and got the 'well you did buy a used car' run around. They finally agreed to look at the car and ended up replacing and repairing the brakes - so much for their great inspection. A week later the car had the same issue so I had my mechanic replace the brakes and it's been fine since. 3 months later and, since I got a free first oil change, I made an appointment. I mean how badly could they screw that one up? At first I was going to drop off the car for the morning but brought my family along so I asked if they could give me a more specific time. I was told that I had a time slot later that morning so I could just bring the car back. Upon returning I was told that I didn't have a time slot and that I would need to leave it with them for a longer time or I could reschedule. Ok, so if I had left it at 10 am it still wouldn't have been done by noon? How long does it take to change oil? This is a clown squad outfit, bad service, lacking integrity, and plays fast-and-loose with the truth. They are not looking for a long relationship but a quick sell. If you need mechanical service on your Ford, this is the place. The four wheel drive on my 2006 Ford F-150 was not working. Amber, their Service Manager, worked closely with me to have the problem diagnosed and they offered a very fair quote for the parts and labor that were required to fix the problem. They repaired the problem quickly - despite Hurricane Sandy impacting the area at the time, they had my truck repaired in two days. When they discovered an additional problem that was not included in the original quote, Amber contacted me immediately, explained the issue, and offered to waive the labor costs associated with the second issue. Additionally, they offered a 10% military discount. This is a professional outfit that provides excellent customer service at a very fair price. Let me start by saying, I had a decent experience buying my car. However, it was the first time I bought a car, so I have nothing to compare it to. Fast Forward a few months. I go in to get my oil changed for the second time. The first time was fine, everything went smoothly and I got in an out without an appointment no problem. They advertise a "Quick Lane" thing, where you aren't supposed to need an appointment for service. The guy at the desk tells me that appointments are always needed. They were busy, and I would have understood if he said straight up that they wouldn't be able to get me in, but he flat out lied to me about needing an appointment. A few more months later, I take my car in to get a few of the recalls on parts replaced. There was a TCM recall and door latch recalls. The TCM was a matter of a software update, so that (so far) seems to be working fine. The problem came when I tried to put down my windows. Only the driver's side window worked. Whenever they put the doors back together, they neglected to properly assemble them. The motors run, but the windows don't move. As a cherry on top, they left handprints all over the windows. Would it really have been that big of a deal to take a moment to wipe them off? read more
