My husband and I recently took lessons with Chad to shake the rust off our dance skills before going to a couple weddings this fall.

While the baton education and instruction was good, we experienced several large payments that we…read moremade to them failing to be applied to our account. We were in communication SEVERAL times with the owner Jacinda Miller to get the billing errors corrected, yet there was a constant failure to apply all of the payments to the bill (that we had made and were able to document with cancelled checks and documentation from paypal online payments). We repeatedly had to ask for updated billing and every time we got the bills back they were different with payments being constantly recoded as other types of payments. As our frustration with the situation (that continued over a period of six months) continued to grow, we again asked that our bill be updated to reflect a $200.00 payment made by check months prior and had cleared that was not reflected in the bill. Jacinda the owner responded by not communicating with us to respond to the issue, but instead turning our account over to her bookkeeper who sent us a letter falsely claiming to be a "Collection Agent" (being a collection agent requires an actual license from the Department of Commerce of Minnesota). The letter that Jacinda Miller had the false "Collection Agent" send us demanded that we pay our outstanding balance (that we had already paid and can document) or she would not allow our children to dance at the studio. I looked into the license issue with the Department of Commerce and found that this person that Jacinda was using was not licensed. An enforcement officer from the Department of Commerce got involved because this is an illegal activity. I notified Jacinda and her "Collection Agent" about these issues, my concerns and my desire to get the issue resolved and Jacinda responded this morning by stating that she would no longer pursue the collection (we owed NO money and can easily document that fact) and that she was kicking the children out of the studio. She took the issue out on 2 young girls (one of which is even in a picture that the owner posted on THIS review site!) I would never EVER enroll anyone into a toxic situation like this. Fiscal irresponsibility and the vindictive nature of the owner that we can document with repeated incorrect invoices, emails and telephone calls - far suppress any positives that are to be had by the level of instruction in baton to be obtained here I sadly write this review as my girls have loved twirling... I just wish that the owner cared for the children and appreciated her clients as much as the children of the clients believe that they should appreciate her.

My daughter has attended Dance Twirl Minnesota for four years as of August 2015. We have been…read moreextremely happy with this studio (both baton and dance programs) and the owner Jacinda Miller! Everything has always been communicated clearly and accurately. I feel that as a parent you could ask any of the other families with children attending and they would share our experience. The instructors are wonderful! They have been consistently patient, caring, and devoted to all of the children, including my daughter who LOVES going here.

Authentic! HOD offers Hip Hop, Breaking, and Locking. Many studios in MN that offer Hip Hop are…read moreeither taught by their jazz/contemporary teachers or they're fitness-based. All of their teachers continually seek out growth by being involved with the actual dance community and industry so they give the best to their students. They not only teach counts, but give tools for dancers to freestyle/improv while bonding with their classmates, using their critical thinking and problem solving skills, and improving their overall confidence. Their students range from age 3-76! It's never too late. Tucked in downtown Hopkins, this studio is well-worth the commute from where I live. Plenty of free parking. Near many businesses so you can go shopping or go to a restaurant while you're waiting for your kid.

The idea of a Hip Hop for Tots class was really cool, but I would not recommend taking this class…read moreto anyone. We take a lot of toddler classes around the TC. Classes at Children's Theater, MacPhail, The Little Gym, Minneapolis and Edina Parks and Rec etc... Bottom line = not everyone has the skills to teach this age group. In our experience, HOD does not have the ability to teach this age group. We attended one class. There is a class for older kids going on at the same time and there is no acoustical separation between studios. They have a flimsy sliding wall separating the two spaces. This is not a good set up for any age group, but particularly 3-year-olds. Also, the teacher told my 3-year-old he was going to write him up. He did this because that was the best he could do with this age group. My son sometimes does not listen and has been in numerous classes as mentioned above - not one of those places has EVER said anything like that before to him. That they would give him a warning and write him up? Needless to say, we never returned. And of course they have a no money back policy (its a fine print thing). Many other places (listed above) have a prorated refund policy which I applaud.
