James Cool has my recommendation for being a stand up attorney with Frazier, Ryan, Goldberg and Arnold. All too often we're referred to attorneys that are far too busy to actually address the needs of the individuals who contact them, however, Mr. Cool listened to my concerns, investigated items that would assist me in my case, followed up with individuals investigating the complaints, assisted in retrieving documentation necessary for me to complete litigation. These are all the things that are good to hear when dealing with lawyers. All attorneys should want their clients to say they were accomplished in their efforts. I'm very disappointed in the estate planning services received from James W. Ryan. I was originally quoted $4 to $6,000 on the plan. It turns out I was billed over $12,000 and now I am going to have to start over with someone else. In 2017 this firm created a will and trust for me primarily by filling in the blanks of a standard form. The price was something like $3500, which I thought was fair. Four years later I wanted to change the names of my trustees from my sister and son to my son and stepson. The paralegal said she would be doing the work so it wouldn't be expensive. While a bill for $318 was in the mail, the paralegal asked me if I wanted to keep Wells Fargo as institutional trustee. No, I said, make it TIAA. When I got the draft changes, the paralegal had made my son and stepson successor trustees to each other. I didn't want that. "Make my daughter successor to my son and my stepdaughter successor to my stepson." For this I was charged $1025 and when I complained, one of the partners emailed me that his staff said I kept making changes. There were no more changes. A final document was sent to me, which I signed and notarized. I got another bill for $318. Bottomline: it took a paralegal two months of calendar time and a few minutes of work time to change 5 names for which I was charged more than $1600. read more

I had a tax issue with a recent employer and reached out to Frazer Ryan & Goldberg Arnold for some assistance with the problem. My first impression based on the initial consultation was that I was going to be helped and this was a great firm. Lisa Reilly was assigned my case and had mentioned that because my debt was so low and I was willing to pay my share of it to the IRS a simple letter from an attorney to the recent employer would provoke them to pay their share, I agreed with her as she seemed very professional. I paid Lisa $340.00 to mail this letter, after weeks the employer hadn't responded. I called to inquire status of the case and she stated "I will have to send another letter via certified mail so we know it has reached its destination", I have no idea why this wasn't done in the first place but once again I thought these where professionals. Once the letter was finally received the recent employer opted not to contribute to their end of the debt, I asked Lisa Reilly what to do? She seemed very annoyed by this point and became condescending, she said for her to pursue the next step they would need another $1500.00 retainer. My share of the debt was less than $1500.00 and she knew this... In a way I was told off like they didn't have time for me. At the end I paid out $340.00 to have a letter sent out and when I needed help I was kicked to the side. I don't entirely know about the rest of the staff at this establishment but I know I was wronged by Lisa and I wouldn't recommend working with her unless you are prepared to pay a large sum of money. read more

I met with Yale Goldberg on a delinquent tax issue. From the paperwork I had and from our brief conversation, Yale said there wasn't much he can do for me if I agreed with the IRS decision but said that he'd be happy to draft the documents and contact them for me on my behalf. I thought about it and didn't want to pay him 10% of the total I owed just to draft paperwork. When his assistant called several days later, I told her of my decision. A few months later I get a letter saying I'm going into collections if I don't pay $600!! $600 for a 20 minute initial consultation? How is that ethical at all? When you use a lawyer like this, they are supposed to save you more than you are spending on them. Yale clearly saw that he couldn't help, yet insisted on charging me over $2,000 for nothing, and when I decided to do it myself he charged me over $600 for the initial consultation. All about the money here!! read more

My dad was diagnosed with Alzheimers in 2016 after showing signs of dementia for the previous three years. We met with Chick Arnold to see if there was anything we could do to protect my dad from scammers and a gold-digger girlfriend. Dad had given to every bogus "charity" ever charged with fraud, and his annual giving had gone from $2000 to $50K. He paid a landscaping company $5K for a half-day's work cleaning up his yard. And his brokerage firm had fired him as a client due to his inability to understand their counsel. They were concerned about their liability. Dad has a trust and nearly all of the checks were coming from the trust. After reviewing the trust docs, Chick recommended we sue for Conservatorship. Yet he neglected to tell us was that Conservatorship would not provide any further protections for the money in dad's trust. I'm not a lawyer, so I didn't know this. He delegated the case to Associate Josh Mozell. My sisters and I spent countless hours carefully pulling together spread sheets showing the contrast in dad's habits prior to and after the dementia set in. We provided detailed accounts of various instances in which it was clear he no longer had the judgment to manage his finances, including the letter from his brokerage house firing dad as a client. We provided doctors reports recommending dad have help managing his finances, including brain scans showing a nearly absent hippocampus and other brain atrophy. We paid $2500 for a psychiatrist to examine dad and her testimony supported our view that dad needed someone else to manage his money. Aside from having that psychiatrist testify by phone, Mozell did absolutely NOTHING with any of this evidence, as we learned the hard way during our hearing. He failed to present anything we gave him. He should have subpoenaed dad's broker and submitted those docs. We offered to have lifelong family friends attest to the dramatic changes in dad and to our integrity. Josh said we wouldn't need any of this. He continually led us to believe this was a slam-dunk. In the hearing it was painfully clear Josh was unfamiliar with the details we'd provided him. He allowed dad's attorney to lead dad on the stand and to make mincemeat of me. No objections. He allowed the opposing counsel to exclude the judge's own investigator's testimony. He was entirely ineffectual and we realized he had not bothered to prepare at all for this hearing. After spending $thousands with FRGA, we lost the case. Then we learned you don't get two bites at the apple. Once you lose a Conservatorship case, you cannot go back to court a second time. I have since had to quit work to attend to dad's needs, which includes attempting to get his money back when he donates to bogus causes or to causes he doesn't believe in, and trying to keep the gold-digger's money grubbing under control. A couple of months after we lost, Josh Mozell was promoted to Partner. So that's what FRGA thinks of his work. They love him! DO NOT SET FOOT IN THEIR OFFICE. I imagine if we had a more lucrative case we might have gotten more attention. They should have told us "You're too small potatoes for us, we recommend a smaller firm." But they clearly didn't care. read more
