I try to never expect anything great when it comes to airport dining ... and don't hold them up to the standards of restaurants outside of the airports. However, the reason for my low review is the staff here are incredibly rude and mean. I watched the workers snap at a lot of people for not ordering correctly ... the design of the shop makes it almost impossible to figure out what's going on. There is a long counter, and people are crowded around it ordering. Then, after you order, you move to the cash register and pay and the workers shout out the orders which are coming up.
The problem is:
- You cannot see the sandwiches in the case because people are standing in front of it and there is no menu. The staff is impatient during ordering, but how can you order when you can't see the options due to the setup?
- Often, by the time the sandwiches or pizzas come out, someone has ordered the same thing behind you in line and takes yours. It doesn't seem like anyone behind the counter cares. They call out 'Prosciutto sandwich!' and hand it to the first person who steps forward, even if you've been waiting longer.
The workers insult people and snap at them ... lots of machismo in action. For that reason, I would never return. Maybe the other restaurants are different, as this is a chain with many locations, however because of the rudeness of the workers at the airport location ... especially the tall guy ... I won't try any of the others outside of the airport. I speak decent Italian and I heard the staff making fun of all the non-local customers waiting for their sandwiches, etc. In most cases, the tourists who don't speak Italian wouldn't know it. They would openly say things like, "Look at this fat American lady. She doesn't need a pizza. ...", "This guy is so stupid, he probably doesn't even know up from down" ... "The kids are as ugly as the parents", etc. Totally unprofessional.
The food was below average. The sandwiches are the way to go. While they probably don't taste as fresh as the sandwiches in an actual restaurant, they're okay. The pizza was a disgrace. The crust was spongy and thick like an English muffin and the tomato sauce didn't taste of San Marzano tomatoes ... the pizza here tasted like anything you'd order at an American sporting event. Not good. The cheese also was not as fresh tasting as the other spots in Naples. Overall, this place is overpriced and mediocre.
The staff really needs an attitude adjustment. They are as bad and mean a group of human beings as I've ever encountered with the tall guy as their ringleader. Again ... this review is only for their airport location. I have not tried any of the other places. read more
