For my past four haulouts (2019, 2017, 2015, 2012) I have had Fraser Fibreglass perform both minor and major hull repairs (including replacing all thru-hulls). The workmanship is suberb and I am very happy with the results. Phil is incredibly knowledgeable, easy to work with and very accommodating. The most recent repairs were for storm damage sustained from the Feb 9th, 2019 outflow winds (that also flipped a barge at Sewell's marina). Phil helped make navigating the insurance claim process as painless as possible, repaired structural damage and also executed an incredible colour-match of the gelcoat: You really had to look hard and from a specific angle to notice there was ANY difference between the new work and the adjacent gelcoat. I have a high degree of respect for Phil, he's very honest and will candidly tell you what work needs to be done, and what is not essential. But most importantly, his work is top notch - structurally and cosmetically. read more

Phil and the team at Fraser Fibreglass really took care of me. They took the time to answer all my questions, explain the options and keep me updated during the process. 10/10 would recommend. read more

Friendly and knowledgeable crew. They do a great job and clean up well after the job is finished. Best pricing I was able to find.

Having just read the last post and the reply from Fraser Fibreglass, I am compelled to write and give my opinion. The OP has a real problem with his insurance company and Phil has politely addressed it. I had exactly the same issues after a rock strike grounding last year. My boat was in a bad way. Phil, and his dedicated professional crew were magnificent throughout the three month repair process. Phil attended without any cost to me a meeting on site at a different Vancouver marina; he was there to give an opinion about shoddy, unprofessional and unqualified Shipwrights who had my boat blocked up and then abandoned it. By the next morning Phil had arranged a very expensive tow at his own expense to his yard. Once there the work began immediately; Phil provided weekly updates and photographs. He was, and is, extremely professional and cares greatly about his work and how it is reviewed. My work was finished on time, to a very high standard. Phil's crew took great care of my boat and basically rebuilt it inside/ dealt with all of the hull issues and fibre glassing/colour matching etc. The bilges were dry, they had been perfectly re-glassed and my water system fully reconnected. Phil, as he says in his reply does NOT do work outside of the remit he is given by insurers, Why should he? He is not here to 'sponsor ' from his pocket the sailing exploits and errors of the OP. My water pipes are old/original. Perfectly serviceable and, much as I would have liked them all replaced I know/knew that if I requested this and paid for it; it would also be done to a high standard. It was not covered by insurers. There seem to be a large number of vindictive and double-standard comments in the OP's post. My opinion could not be any more contrary if I tried. We buy boat insurance for this and other eventualities. Insurers pay out months later for the work done on the final Fraser Invoice which is signed off by the owner of the boat, then by Phil, and finally by the Insurers/ their contracted assessor. Presumably this poster signed off the work, and so did his insurers? These issues would and should have been raised at the time with Phil and the Insurance Assessor. Clearly he is not willing to state whether he personally addressed all of his' issues' with Phil or his insurers? Why not? Only he can say. If he signed he has no recourse; he knows this and this explains the spiteful and unhelpful post. It is seemingly only a rant about the real issue; that he could not get extra work, not covered by insurers; to be done by Phil for free. His decrepit sounding water heater and battery issues are his alone. Phil took great care of my boat, hooked it up, cleaned it and returned in in sparkling condition. He could not have been more professional, courteous, friendly and concerned. He gave me great advice and service. Next week I am going to instruct him as my #1 go to repair person on another major refit of my boat. He will undoubtedly provide myself and my insurers with an estimate and a detailed( initial) quote. This will contain an detailed costing and spreadsheet of the works being undertaken. I will sign it as the OP will have signed his. We both knew what we are getting and exactly what insurers will pay and not pay. Extras will be outlined and then, if sanctioned in writing by the owner, carried out. Not for free- at the owner's cost. I have to say I am extremely annoyed on Phil's behalf and note this OP appears to think all those who he deals with are out to rook him and he justifies his faux outrage, ( so it seems), by giving them bad reviews and inviting other such reviews. Where are they in this case? Nowhere to be seen. Accordingly, just as he invites others to '' benefit from his faux ' adverse experience' and help him disrespect a true professional and his staff; I am happy to vouchsafe Phil as an excellent and kindly professional; and invite any other posters to compare the tone, content and exactitude of Phil's professional reply with the unpleasant OP's comments. The OP has a problem with his insurers and not Fraser. read more

I don't want to make Phil feel old, but I am the third generation of boater in my family to use Fraser Fiberglass. He has done repairs to my grandfather's boat, by father's, and now mine. When working below the waterline you don't want to wonder about the quality of repair, Phil doesn't give you the choice he says "this is the way to do it". He removed four unused thru hull fittings and three transducers. I know where they were, but it is almost impossible to distinguish the repair from the factory molded fiberglass - he is a craftsman. read more

My boat hit a rock & we assigned Fraser Fiberglass the contract to make repairs. Here is a summary of the issues that happened after the repairs were completed 1. No vacuuming of the fibreglass dust debris (from their repair work) led to two clogged bilge pumps & a mess of dust & congealed waste in our bilge. 2. Not testing the hot water system failed to identify a) a major water leak b) that the hot water tank was not working, due to an incorrect electrical hookup made by them and c) a damaged/ leaking Paloma water heater. 3. Removing the fuse for the refrigeration electrical panel clearly indicates that they never tested the refrigeration system after reassembly. 4. Not plugging in our batteries while at their shop drained our backup Efoy charging system (which provides about 6 days of power generation when our batteries run dangerously low) & which hopefully have NOT destroyed our batteries. 5. Leaving our sails exposed on the boat deck without any covers or protection , whereas they could have been easily stored inside the boat. 6. After promising to mitigate any unresolved issues after boat launch, they only went part way. I can probably understand why they don't stand behind their work, as the problems they let out of their shop are too numerous to deal with afterward. Clearly a lack of attention to planning & to detail. Sincerely, Rick Fijal 604-818-9480 read more

My wife and I recently had Fraser Fibreglass complete a major refit on our 1987 Mason 33 sailboat which we then sailed to Alaska without any problems. Phil and his crew know their stuff. During the refit they completely gutted the interior of our vessel and upgraded and installed new systems including all wiring, fuel tank, head and holding tank, heating , plumbing, pumps, electronics etc. They also beautifully restored the teak flooring. All aspects of our refit including fibreglass work etc were completed to the utmost quality standards. Throughout the process Phil and Mike and the rest of their team always made themselves available and kept us informed of the progress. Fraser Fibreglass has been in business for a number of years and we used them to do work on our previous sailboat in 2002 which we then sailed to New Zealand and Australia. If you're looking for reliability and quality we strongly recommend Fraser Fibreglass read more

I recently had my beautiful 1979 18' Pro Am (Mastercraft) repaired at Fraser Fibreglass after hitting a deadhead off Cates Park. Most of the underwater machinery was damaged including the hull, two midship fins, strut, rudder, propeller, shaft, etc., were completely bent, torqued, chipped. Two professionals; Phil & Mike started work on it immediately, with Mike doing most of the machinery & fibreglass repair. Other marine repair-shop estimates I received advised me that the boat was too old and the parts were no longer available, or if found they would be extremely expensive; they further advised they didn't have have the capability or skills to repair them, only replace them. Fraser Fibreglass saved me thousands of $$$ as Mike repaired all the damaged parts to their original condition (like new). The damaged fibreglass around the strut-mount is now stronger than the original factory specifications. The fins were shaped to the original condition. No part was replaced except the stuffing box. I'm a 25-year member of the Burrard Yacht Club and have owned boats for over 40 years, and have never seen such craftsmanship and professionalism. For example, prior to the damage, I was unable to maintain the engine at an idle as it would stall. I had three experienced marine mechanics attempt to repair it with no success. Two of the mechanics advised me to replace most of the electrical and fuel systems. So I did; it still stalled!! Within minutes of Mike looking at it, listening to the engine, and observing the fuel delivery system, he said "shut it down, I know what the problem is". Mike installed a new fuel line from the fuel tank and bypassed the water-separator filter as he determined it had an air leak. I fired up my Ford Marine 351w and it purred like a kitten and has ever since. So finally, I highly recommend Fraser Fibreglass for absolutely any repair on your vessel regardless of the vintage, type, size, or make. As they say; "the ocean has no mercy" in other words, "get it fixed properly you and your passenger's lives depend on it". read more
