The staff was very nice and accommodating for our special seating needs. They also explained the menu and were wonderfully friendly and funny!
The food was top notch- some of the best fondue I've ever had! We started with two soups- a creamy tomato and a barley, and both were very good. However, the star of the night was the fondue- we got two! The Glacier was delicious, but the porcini was my favorite- wow to the big chunks of mushrooms! Served with bread and potatoes and our addition of the pickled cucumbers and onions, it was an exquisite meal! And thank you for having burners we could turn down and checking yourselves to make sure the cheese wasn't burning- we got to eat every bite!
The restaurant itself, in a hotel but not priced like most hotel restaurants, is just charming. Glad we got there early and sat at a bunk near the window so that we could see outside passers by, but we're quickly distracted by the details in the woodwork design in the restaurant- the attention to detail was impressive!
A note from my husband- the local beer he ordered was a very good helles - his favorite!
Finally, in a city where most of the traditional Swiss food restaurants (I really wanted fondue!) close on Monday, this was a gift to find! Honestly, just a wonderfully creamy and flavorful fondue with plenty of dippers at a great price in an amazing atmosphere with nice staff! read more
