Kav, Karim, and the team at Goldcon Construction are absolutely amazing. Words really cannot…read moredescribe how grateful we are to Goldcon - but since this is a Google review, I will try my best to paint a picture of how we worked together. Prior to selecting Goldcon, we had interviewed about 15 contractors. All of them were great sales people, they all sounded like they knew what they were doing, so narrowing it down was difficult. We eventually got it down to 3 companies (Goldcon and 2 others) and signed up to a design document with 1 of them that was not Goldcon. Typically in construction the contractors will charge a "Cost Plus" model or a "Fixed Price". For fixed price, you need to have a perfectly crafted scoping document so you know exactly what you are paying for. For "Cost Plus" you are paying a percentage on top of the cost of the project. Virtually all the contractors wanted to use a Cost Plus Model given all the uncertainties with supplies and labour. I just didn't like this idea because it didn't feel like the contractors would make an effort to negotiate the best price for us. Goldcon was one of the only contractors that was willing to do a fixed price for the build - but they were concerned that we would need to submit a variety of change orders if the supplies that we had chosen were out of stock. So we decided to settle on a fixed management fee and pay Goldcon in installments that were tied to milestones reached. As soon as we signed on the dotted lines, they got to work. And they worked fast. Trades were organized extremely efficiently, one after another. Multiple quotes were presented to us for each trade and they often were able to get their existing partners to match prices of lower price suppliers. Design ideas were brought to the table and discussed at length, but very quickly and efficiently. Communication was effortless, we setup a WhatsApp group and kept a history of all the things we discussed. When we had a difference of opinion, they always reverted back to "It's your house, you have whatever you like, but we just think XYZ would make the most sense". This was reassuring to us and most of the times we ended up going with their suggestions and it paid off. At no point in the process did we feel like we were being bullied into doing something or were we uncomfortable with the process. So overall, there are 100's of reasons to choose Goldcon and ZERO reasons to work with someone else. If you are looking for a builder for a new house or to do a larger renovation, Goldcon is the only company that I would recommend. I would be happy to speak with anyone personally that is interested in hiring them and would be thrilled to be a reference. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions. A…read morefriend of mine introduced me to Kaveh who is the co-owner of company and said that Goldcon does great work for a very reasonable price. The carpet in the apartment was really old and the bathroom needed a new vanity. Kaveh helped me pick out the laminate flooring that would look good and that I didn't have to spend and arm and leg to get. They quickly took out the disgusting old carpet and installed the new flooring which looks great. Second, they took out the old rusted vanity and added a new vanity which really makes my fiancé happy. I love coming to a home which I can be comfortable in and a home that looks good. All because Goldcon did a great job fixing the place up just the way I wanted. The service from Goldcon was amazing and I'm happy that my friend introduced me to this company. Thanks again.

I purchased aluminum fencing to secure a swimming pool…read more They provided fair pricing, fencing was well made and delivered on time. They have a beautiful portfolio of fencing, railings and gates - I would contact them again, especially for more decorative services. My only comment is that I would have liked to have been offered more options. Upon installation I realized that they didn't have self-closing hinges on the gates (which is code for swimming pools). I assumed they would know and would have self-closing hinges already. And I would have chosen fancier gate latches, so I'll be replacing the basic ones soon. Bottom line - they do great work and are nice people, be specific and ask questions and you'll be very happy with them!

We are very lucky that we stumbled upon Level One on the internet when we were looking for a…read morecontractor to renovate our small condo in Coal Harbour. None of our friends or families had any recent home renovations done so we relied on our own search on the web. I was in town in September 2008 for a week, interviewed a couple on the 2nd day in town and decided on Level One. The owner came to the condo with an assistant for an assessment, listened to what we wanted to have done and offered a few suggestions. I was given a quote within just a couple of days. After agreeing to the contract, the demolition started the following week! Although it was a small one-bedroom condo, we had our kitchen torn out and replaced with new appliances and cabinetry, all the flooring replaced with bamboo flooring, the bedroom closet gutted and rebuilt, half of the bathroom redone. The project was completed in just 2 months. We are very happy with the process and the quality of the work. We were still living in California at the time of the renovation so all communications were done either by email or over the phone. We received email and photo updates weekly if not more frequently. We were sought approvals for any changes to the plans so we were aware of all changes to the costs all the time. When we walked into our condo a few months later when we moved here, it was exactly how it looked in the picture, even better because we could see it in person. There was a slight problem with the bathroom sink a month after we moved in in March 2009. It was a new product so it needed some tweaking. The owner came back numerous times to make sure it worked. Not only that we were not charged for the visits, he gave us a bottle of wine for the inconvenience caused. We had other renovation projects in the past and Level One is the most reliable contractor we dealt with so far.

Also with the replacement of our rounded corner beads to square we thank you for the mess your unskilled drywallers made of our walls with layers and layers of mud put on under your direction to get them square which in the end was never accomplished. My favourite words I learned from you are "changing the scope of work " so you could make a simple electrical box placement in the post go from a week long project to a month and and half long project because I changed the scope of work. Oh and "as per our contract " is one of my favourites too so you could add on more work as you felt fit as you were sure to make the contract as vague as you could. " industry standards " love this one as I'm still trying to google where I can find a crooked post in industry standards. And best of all "builders lien" when we didn't want to sign off on the shoddy work you did and pay before the job was completed to your clients approval .... lucky for you guys we found someone that could try straightening the mess your drywallers made with old outdated metal corner beads. All in all I leaned a lot about this company they are not qualified to take on skilled jobs like this one and they are very manipulative, bad communication between the trades and the owner and in the end we ended up managing our own renovation. Shame on you for creating a crooked post. Mike & Marcia
