Two weeks later my cat is lethargic, and I have to wait until Tuesday after the holiday to call in. Well, he died that Monday night. I call to inform them and introduce myself and they hurriedly start telling me they need to switch his antibiotics. Why couldn't they have called me? It doesn't take two weeks to get results. The kicker? I brought my cat in because he was sick and it was determined to be a bacterial infection. They insisted the cat get a rabies vaccine as if that couldn't wait. It probably weakened his immune system. I'm so tired of greedy and dismissive vets. Do yourself a favor and find a better one elsewhere.

I was greeted at the door by Emily & Erin who helped me get Leo through the office door (Lol...He did not want to go into the office) with some treats and gentle nudging. Dr Kirstin Jorgenson met us in the exam room. What a great experience! Dr Jorgenson was incredibly loving with Leo as she examined him while explaining everything to me. Leo had bloodwork, rabies shot along with a total evaluation. We were prescribed medication for fleas, ticks, heartworm along with a anti itching mousse for Leo's hot spots. I probably met every vet technician and staff as they were all incredibly loving to Leo, kind and truly helpful. This was a truly great and much appreciated visit for Leo and piece of mind for myself. I was never upsold or pressured into anything as with quite a few past experiences with other vets. Thank you! I highly recommend Dr Jorgenson and staff at Memorial Beach Veterinarian. See below about that. We entrusted our dogs to Dr. Yohler, and when nothing was actively wrong, his stories and folksy way of being was just fine. When things got serious, Dr. Yohler was not only incompetent, but he was harmful. I'll talk about the damage Dr. Yohler did to our puppy second. First, to our Staffie. The greatest god I've ever had. When my dog got sick, Yohler showed me all these terrible labs, and said they would keep her overnight. In my fear and worry, I didn't ask what they would be doing to treat her. It turns out, NOTHING. He let her sit there, overnight, for no reason. When I got there in the morning, he said we should bring her to the emergency vet where they might be able to do something. It took me a while to process just how terrible this was. After she died. We wound up getting a puppy. The puppy was constantly limping and in pain. Dr. Yohler couldn't figure it out. Sending us away with weird new theories, coming back for x rays, then being UNABLE TO READ THE XRAYS. Not knowin what side they were taken on, unable to see anything wrong. We finally went to another vet, who immediately saw bone fragments in her "elbows", and we scheduled surgery. The puppy has been great ever since, although dealing with a surgical suit is not fun! :) You need shots? Go see Dr. Yohler. You need expert help when your dog is in danger? Go somewhere else.

Dave said "Or you could give her pain pills and rest and see if she heals" She healed just fine. I trust this man with all of my animals. He knows intuitively when expensive measures are not necessary and when they are. When he went into semi-retirement, I was nervous about a new doctor. But I should have known he would choose someone so special to be his successor. Dr B is just as amazing and just as capable and the kindest human. I trust her completely. I feel so very lucky to have such a caring team for my animals. My cat was diagnosed with diabetes and Dr B helped us CURE HER of her diabetes. The day before Christmas Eve, my family and I went to Animal Kingdom to have our boxer put down. Dr. Cornejo explained the injection process with such compassion and professionalism. We asked if Bandit could be put down outside, amongst the beautiful outdoor setting of their animal hospital. Dr. Cornejo brought a warm blanket outside, held Bandit in her arms and spoke softly to her as she slowly passed. She truly made a very difficult day more bearable. Two years prior, Dr. Cornejo removed a cancerous tumor from Bandit's leg. She extended Bandit's life a couple years and took her pain away, two years later, in a most humane way. I thought it was unusual that a single entity veterinarian still existed ANYWHERE, so I made an appointment to see the doctor having seen several vets on this issue previously. My dog has a pre-existing problem for which he will require surgery. When I pulled up to the address, I was unsure where the veterinary clinic was located - it was completely unmarked. I made an assumption that it was what looked like a renovated garage or side property. The door was locked. I was on time, so I wasn't sure what was going on. I rang the doorbell. Still nothing. After a few minutes, a gentleman (I'll call him the judge - you'll see why in a minute) came out and asked if I had an appointment. I told him I did. He led me to a table on the side of he house to fill out paperwork. He asked me three times to sit down, and I told himi I didn't want to sit down. This seemed to be an issue for him. I filled out the forms at which point he informed me that it would be a few minutes wait. Finally they came to take my dog. Romeo, that's my dog, was taken inside and I was told I had to wait outside. I was shocked by this and not just a little uncomfortable that I was unable to stay with my dog for the visit which consisted of establishment of care and an exam relating to his pre-existing condition. I asked if it would be alright to wait in my car. The judge responded by saying, "why, are you cold?" Rude, I thought. Yes. I'm cold. It's 50 degrees outside, overcast and windy and you've provided no place for animal owners to be made comfortable. Eventually the judge and the vet came out with Romeo, and I was told that my best option was to go back to the shelter where I'd gotten Romeo and ask for their help. In other words, no meaningful advice whatsoever. I should note here that at NO POINT during the visit was I able to speak to the veterinarian without the judge being present.The vet told me what a sweet dog I have. I know this. I was looking for veterinary assistance. What I got was a vet with an agressive bodyguard. As the judge assisted me with processing payment, he shared with me that he'd been in law enforcement for many decades and was now retired and available to help his wife. He then informed me that he had served as a judge for some or all of those decades. The dimensions of his personality began to fall into place. The feeling I got from him was that I wasn't trusted, I wasn't welcome there, but they loved my dog. Duh. My dog is awesome. After some time I took my dog back to a vet I've done business with before. He gave me a quote to perform the necessary surgery that Romeo requires. The quote was for $2500. On a whim, I thought I'd forward the quote to Animal Kingdom to see if the numbers aligned with what they would charge. The next day I got a call from the judge. He asked me how I'd be paying. I said credit card. He seemed very put off by that answer. He said if I were paying in cash he might be able to reduce the price but since I'd be paying with credit card I was out of luck.The judge then told me I since I'd already seen another vet, I should go back to them at which point he swiftly ended the call. All in all, the vet seems nice. The judge is...not the best person to be an assistant/receptionist/whatever the hell he's supposed to be doing there. He doesn't have the personality for it. And not allowing owners inside with their animals is, to me, very offputting. I won't be going there again.
