We had a lot of brush and some saplings in the way and the land isn't entirely level, so he wanted to ask us about our preferences and be realistic about how we could get it done. His estimate was extremely reasonable. As a side note the other companies we called either charged for estimates or were only interested in telling me I shouldn't choose wood for my fence (without seeing my yard and the fact that it's already half fenced in with wood). The one other guy that came out didn't ask any questions or really talk to me, he just measured.
