Sir (Michael Sanchez) is super knowledgeable and passionate about teaching Taekwondo to others. He wants you to improve and is willing to go above and beyond to help you reach your goals. This is a small school where students and their families become your Taekwondo family. You will quickly be accepted into this family and will be held accountable for attending class, which I believe shows this school's family atmosphere. Each time I arrived, I was happily greeted by all the students (especially the younger kids) and their parents. I think the younger kids viewed me like an older sister, which was awesome. There aren't complicated membership packages or different clubs depending on your belt level. Sir charges a super affordable monthly rate for all students; you can cancel whenever you want. Ultimate Kicks TKD focuses on Olympic Style Taekwondo; we spar in almost every class. When we aren't sparring, we are learning valuable combinations to use when sparring. Each class is a solid workout; I am always drenched in sweat after an hour of working out. Students learn the Taegeuk forms as color belts, and then move on to the black belt forms series once they graduate to black belt. This is a quality TKD school and I highly recommend it.

You will be pushed, but it is safe for anyone to join no matter the experience level. There are adult classes every day: karate, kick boxing, or jiu jitsu; and kids classes for as young as 4 years old. Sensei Seijo and Sensei Joy and all the Senpais including Ciprian and Jose are amazing teachers of Kyokushin and mentors that go above and beyond to invest in each student's development. Legit love it here, it's become a second home and a second family. And I'm in the best shape of my life as an add on.

My 4yo needed to learn focus, while my 9yo needed to boost self-confidence. The dojo provided a safe and fun environment where they could work towards these goals with dedicated senseis and senpais. Seeing the positive impact they had on my kids, I decided to join as an adult student. I've found a welcoming and supportive community that's committed to helping each other grow. It's been a wonderful outlet for my mental health and well-being. Together, we've trained our minds and bodies, building strength and resilience through hard work and dedication. It's been amazing watching my kids blossom under the guidance of Sensei Seijo and Sensei Joy. I wholeheartedly recommend that anyone give them a try!

Oscar is an amazing Boxing and Muay Thai boxing coach…read more I have dabbled in martial arts since I was a child and trained at several boxing, MMA, BJJ, and Thai Boxing gyms all over the city. Chicago is definitely blessed with excellent martial arts and combat sports instruction, and Oscar Bravo definitely belongs in that category. His current location is convenient off the CTA Red Line, buses, Loop, I-94, and Lake Shore Dr. His gym is upstairs from Phenomenal Fitness, which we get access to if its not too busy as a perk. Oscar's gym has the amenities that other gyms might lack, but not in an ostentatious way. Clean locker rooms, more than one shower, towels, soap, shampoo, decent bathrooms. He provides wraps, shin guards, mitts, focus pads, thai pads, whatever we need to train, plus a nice selection of Thai bags and boxing bags. There is also a treadmill. Another plus is that there are NO contracts. Just a straight fee that includes a T-Shirt, no cancellation policies, just easy Quick Pay and easy rate change if you want to train more. Its very transparent. Also we can make up classes on another week if we miss out, so we aren't wasting $. Very appreciative of that. Now on to the man himself. I've only known Oscar for a short time, but he has a great reputation as a fighter, martial artist and coach that goes way back in the community. He has a great eye for improving technique, pushing you to excel and do your best without crushing you or making you feel inadequate. There is definitely empowerment within his teaching, and he also shares his experiences with other martial arts and not limiting to what is being taught within the base art. I think this well-rounded approach is extremely beneficial as people come from all different types of backgrounds. He tries to get to know you when you first come in and evaluate where we are. There has definitely been a great progression with our Muay Thai class since i joined a few months ago, everyone is improving in fitness and technical application. Its encouraging to see the team environment develop organically without Oscar emphasizing it. Right now the class is small so we all get great individual feedback. Oscar is also great at reminding us about recovery, stretching properly, and taking care of our bodies without sounding too preachy. Strongly recommend you check out a class, for fitness, training for your first fight, or self-defense. Whether you are new or a veteran, you can learn something.

By accident I found out about this gym and it was the absolute best choice. Oscar is very experienced as a coach (not one of those young fitness dudes at the gyms who tries to teach you about boxing, without having any experience). Having been to a lot of gyms before I can assure you he is a top level coach. He can really help you improve your technique and physique regardless if you are a novice or you are looking to fight on Pro level. Every student get his full attention and it is a worthwhile investment if you want to become a better boxer/kickboxer or just get in really good shape.

There are people of all different levels and they truly care about teaching the right techniques. A lot of Tae Kwon Do places might try to push for more belt tests to make money, but I know that they really try to prepare the students to excel and move up on belt levels only as necessary. My son loves going and he looks forward to his lessons. I highly recommend checking it out if you're not sure. I think they have some introductory lessons at a discounted price. Firstly the Korean master, who received years of strict training in Korea, takes his class seriously and right technique and spirit of Taekwondo is always his aim. It's also not a crowded Dojang with reasonable numbers of kids in each class (typically about 5 kids). So each kid can get enough attention. One thing that Master Kim earned credit for himself among the parents is that he never intends to commercialize his class. Instead his belief is "It's the quality that makes difference", and he never mind teaching a little more and a little longer. Before my daughter joined this school I did some research about other taekwondo schools in Lincolnshire, Northbrook and Deerfield. I am happy that I made right choice!
